Looking at the Monkey King in this episode reminds me of Kongo from Monkey Magic years back. The only differences I'm certain of is that I think in the legend, the monkey king was actually a good guy and some of the celestial gods respected him.

Where as in this episode and in Monkey Magic (though I'm somewhat sure Kongo and Wukong aren't the same) are both depicted as dangerous and destructive pranksters.

I may be wrong of course. I'm mainly familiar with Japanese myths not the Chinese
