is the peach blush quite pigmented? I am thinking of getting it. I think that your makeup is simple enought for anyone but it looks really professional at the same time. I am glad I stumbled on these videos. SO helpful and not pretentious which is so refreshing. Thank you
Do you know I get that a lot! On YOuTube, people often say I look like I could be Vanessa Hudgens sister and that I remind people of Katherin McPhee... although I don't see it!
Oh I did! I had fabulous skin up to about 15 yrs old. Then I got a whole lot of fine small pimples on my forehead and chin. After about a year or so it settled. Now I am more likely to get those nasty hormonal break outs at that time of the month!
I use Dove's creamy facial cleanser and when I've rubbed that on my face, i take a face washer and gently scrub, then rinse. As soon as I step out of the shower I moisturise. Every two days I use Clearasil pore cleaning wipes. Oh, and I scrub my face with the face washer/towel once a day (at night). In the morning, I just wash my face with the cleanser, and am gentle with my face.
isnt she like doing the same thing as the other british chick? did she come before or after...she's cuter (and knows it)...but didn't she steal the idea from the other chick?
Panacea81 and I are two of many girls who do makeup on youtube. I believe Amy04 was the first to do it. There's about 200 of us on YouTube.
Panacea81, the english girl, is a friend of mine.
I don't know who came first, or who started doing videos first. I'd had a music channel on youtube for a year. I used to do makeup artistry, and thought I'd put some helpful tutes up.
My videos are increasingly better than this first video!
It's Shiseido's fine liner. I list all the products I use in the description text to the right of the video. Check out my "Frequently Asked Questions" video. I talk about the product, and demonstrate using it there.
I love your voice! I love australian (i didn't spell that right did i...?) voices they're so cute. Cuz I'm English and hear the English language 24/7 so yeah anyways... You're cool. x
I taper my eyeliner from very fine at the inner eye and make it thicker as it moves toward the outer eye. I do this so it blends with the shape and contours of my eye, and also gives the illusion of a fuller lashline.
Check out my foundation video. This is the complete stages I do of foundation, say if I were going out and really wanted to cover everything. For day wear though, I usually don't do the stick foundation step. But it's all there!
awsome demo... love the smoky eye look its my fave look 99.9% on a night out but have trouble keeping it through the nigt without running, any suggestions?
Do you use an eye primer? Something like Urban Decay Primer Potion or Mac's Bare Canvas Paint before the eyeshadow really does help your makeup adhere all night.
My eyes are naturally very very very dark brown. I usually stick to neutral colours like beige, brown, golds and bronze, teamed with peach or pink blush. This really does make the most of my eyes. I think warm browns/anything with red undertones. I can't personally wear pink on my eyes. Oh, and purple and turquoise looks good on me too.
Hi amy!! this is my question, how can i apply the black eyeshadow without a turns it a disaster and the eyelid gets dirty? Help me, if it was possible, can u do a video? Thank you!!! you are the best,u have style, sorry for the ortography, because i speak spanish, and english something.. <3
hey amy its me again, chrissy and i jus wanna kno does foundation gives the face a better look or powder because wen i use powder the makeup start to sweat off quickly and im trying to find something long lasting for my face. and also with the smokey eye it u was going to add another color like pink would u apply it on the bottom of the eyebroe and eyebone? luvs
I use a combo of liquid f/n and powder. Liquid for the coverage, and powder to set it so it doesn't slide off. Also primer really helps your f/n last longer.
And you can add another colour to the smokey eye. I would apply it on the brow bone and smoke the eye so that the black colour is intense at teh lash line and blends and lightens as it moves up to the crease, and then into the pink.
Amy! i've missed you so much! i'm watching this video AGAIN! lol i liek these ones (where you put make up on urself coz we can see a lil better..if that makes sense). Hope to see more vids soon. take care beautiful!
Shiseido fine eyeliner. It's a brilliant product. In the US, you can't get normal black, only soft black (it's a little duller, but still good). Dior has an eyeliner that is similar to this, it's a brush pen too.
HI AMY.. question, why aren't you doing anymore videos.you should, your one of my favorites on youtubee.can i request another smokey eye look, using purple, black, and whatver other colours you wish to add..my name is Jojo xo
I am doing more videos! I've got Megs coming over tomorrow.
I'm currently working on my full website with the graphic designers, reworking the mini mag, and in negotiations about some business prospects! Very exciting. So will have some new vids up, and I'll do a video soon to talk about all the new exciting stuff!
For single eye lids, you want to really concentrate on the dark colour being intense on the lashline, and then fading out. It should be really well blended.
If your eyes are small, either make the shadow under the eye go down further, or don't do it at all, or don't line the waterline, and add a bit of shadow under the lower lashes.
I will do an asian video soon, and demonstrating a smokey eye.
on my god your eyes look very sexy i've been trying to kno how to do a well smokey eye texture so it blends in right but as u kno u have to be careful with black eye u dont want to look like a zombie but u do excellent with blending so it looks really good but i kno u use mac and napoleon but what other products do u use. well done amy ! luvs
I'm sorry if this offends in any way but I'm surprised you're Indo! I'm Indo, haha. I was just surprised, cos like, you're soooo great at these makeup vids. Way to put Indonesians in the youtube map (:
As I explain in the video, I started with liquid eyeliner and a crayon eyeliner, and then smudge it. It gives a very intense black colour on the lashline. I then blend this out with black eyeshadow so the colour is gradiated as it moves from the lashline.
Good point but what if u have a customer with a teary eyes? you will get a huge mess not to mintion the BLACK color wich will lead u to fist steps adding foundations and powders.
I've been a makeup artist for 6 years, and I've not had a problem.
I don't know if you have seen any of my other videos, but I normally do liquid liner after the eyeshadow application. It's just for this video that I do it differently because of the colour intensity needed.
Yes, I am very open about my contacts. Freshlook Colourblends in Grey if anyone is wanting to know which I wear. Definitely the most natural looking on very dark eyes.
amy, i have to say that i am really fond of your tutorials! a lot of your makeup looks are very simple & minimalistic in the sense that they don't require 92750825 different eyeshadows like many of the other makeup tutorials here on youtube, and i like that.
Someone else asked me that question and I honestly cannot remember where I got it from or remember buying it. I only had it a couple of weeks. My boyfriend put it in the wash, and because it is wool, it shrunk!
I have to say how amazed I am that you're not only answering all questions from your watchers, but also giving thorough and clear answers. You've helped so many women, its unbelievable. Thank you =D
Rimmel London crayon pencil. I don't have it anymore, so I don't know what it's real name is. It's one of those eyeliners that's a techni pencil, you wind it.
Aahhhh... I do not remember where I got that hat from. I honestly can't remember buying it. I don't have it anymore, my boyfriend put it in the wash and it shrunk! Ugh! It's annoying me now... I can't remember.
i really like how your eyes look...but when i try to to the smokey eyes myself, i look like Sasha Grey, BELIEVE ME ....n i feel like a whore!!!!=(....n im doing it really great, its just that i think my eyes r the problem...thanks anyway!!!!!!!!...u r pretty..btw!!!
The trick to not looking like a "whore" is more to do with your blush and lips with a smokey look. If you keep your face as neutral as possible, a light dusting of blush and maybe just gloss (not too shiny though). It will look sexy, and not trashy... because I know what you mean!
when will your christmas make-up vid come online ? haha i'm sorry but ever since you said you'd do it, i've been checking it everyday. haha your askmemakeup stalker from the totally other side of the world
When you said that the shadow on the lower lid doesn't suit everyone...what eye shape does it not work well with? Obviously not yours, since you look beautiful! Thanks for the how to, I am going to do this tomorrow!
It's really hard to list, because every eyeshape is unique. Eyeshape, plus eye size, plus eye placement, whether the eye protrudes or bulges, etc- lots of variations. I find people with small eyes or round eyes, it doesn't suit very well. But then again, there are also ways to get around it too... arrghgghgh... hard to answer this questions easily!
Hello Amy! I just came upon your tuts last week and am obsessed w you! Question about your shiseido. You refer to it as their 'inkliner'. I haven't found a product by that name. Is it their makeup fine eyeliner? Tho you said your's was $70. The fine eyeliner is $27 USD. But it sounds the same. p.s., i wrote you on your email but i think you check here more often. I'm really looking forward to your hair tuts. Thanks!
Hi! You're right, I try to keep on top of the video comments. I have about 300 emails to answer!!! Isn't that crazy?!
Yes, the liner you are talkign about is the one. And the discussion on my frequently asked questions video comments has been that they are discontinuing it, and have changed the formulation, so you can only get "soft black" now, and does't come out very strong. I'm so upset about that.
Yeah, that was the other thing. Well I'll see how I like it. You'll have to tell us what you decide to go w in that case. I've been using Stila's gel for about 6 mos now but was very curious about shiseido after your raves and demo. Thanks for sharing!
HI AMY! Love your tutorials! I have become a huge fan of liquid liner now!~ Question i love your pallets, "muddy brown" what kind of a shadow pallet is that? I was trying to mock the beige shadow before you put anything else on.. i actually found a great one through MAC its called "Ricepaper" for anyone who wants to try it..:)It gives great definition...
when i go to put liner on my bottom lashes it looks reallyyyyyyyy messy, and it's not cute. idk why cuz every1 elses looks sooo cute when they do it.!!!
Can I use light shady pink instead of brown eyeshadow? It's part of my "Warm" collection palette. Also does it really differ on what type of brush I use; whether it's the bristle type or the mini spongy type?
If you don't use a bristle brush for your blush, just make sure you blend, blend and blend! Also, you could go for pink rather than brown. Brown would be better, but pink would work fine.
i love how your so honest... like most gurls woudl say sumthin like "kai i have no foundation on right now jus to make themselves look naturally beautiful. and wne sumone asked yu if those were yur real eyes yu coulda easily lied and said it was natural. buh i love how yur a relli honest person and thats such a hot look! i love tha smokey eye
Have you checked out my latest video that I uploaded a few hours ago... I explain that from now until the end of the year, I will be doing formal/prom/party looks for the holiday season.
I actually have no idea what the actual name of this eyeshadow is. I apologise. It came in my Napoleon Perdis palette, and I keep forgetting to go to the store and check it out. Sorry, I will do that soon.
when you need to use a pigment wet, what do you use? do you use the MAC mix and medium ? it is so exspensiv :/ i need somthing cheeper.. and i saw in one of your videos that you where using somthing that works the same way the MAC mix and medium :) what was it ? plz. answere ;)
You can either just wet your brush, but it doesn't have the staying power that something like mixing medium has. I use Napoleon Perdis' Cake Line Sealer. Or something called Duraline. I've also heard you can use Visine, but I haven't tried it.
that is the exact look i've been trying to get...although i have a hard time with putting eyeliner on the bottom of my eye(i get nervous and it tickles)..but great look!!
I think smokey eyes photograph well if you have light eyes. But if it's for your yearbook, you just want to do makeup that brings out your features. Take a look at my Classic Bridal video. There are a lot of principles there. You obviously wouldn't do your makeup as strong as that. But that look is designed to just bring out the feautres.
Question..I always have the problem when I'm applying eyeshadow it always falls underneath my eyes/face, and then smudges..very messy! Do you just re-apply your foundation...OR..?!
I remember I watched your videos 3 years ago and I still love them !

also, what kind of black eyeliner pencil do you use? sometimes, the kind i use is too hard (instead of being able to easily draw the line, it tugs)
JonelleElise 4 years ago
Rimmel London crayon pencil. I don't have it anymore, so I don't know what it's real name is. It's one of those eyeliners that's a techni pencil, you wind it.

i love your hat! where did you get it? great tutorial!
JonelleElise 4 years ago
Aahhhh... I do not remember where I got that hat from. I honestly can't remember buying it. I don't have it anymore, my boyfriend put it in the wash and it shrunk! Ugh! It's annoying me now... I can't remember.

i really like how your eyes look...but when i try to to the smokey eyes myself, i look like Sasha Grey, BELIEVE ME ....n i feel like a whore!!!!=(....n im doing it really great, its just that i think my eyes r the problem...thanks anyway!!!!!!!!...u r pretty..btw!!!
iloveupapi07 4 years ago
The trick to not looking like a "whore" is more to do with your blush and lips with a smokey look. If you keep your face as neutral as possible, a light dusting of blush and maybe just gloss (not too shiny though). It will look sexy, and not trashy... because I know what you mean!

lol...thanks for replying....i'm going to try it again, n im going to let u know how do i look.........

Hahhaha.. hopefully this week. I've been so busy. Sorry.
Scalmat actually did the look I wanted to do! But I am going to come up with something else.
askmemakeup 4 years ago
When you said that the shadow on the lower lid doesn't suit everyone...what eye shape does it not work well with? Obviously not yours, since you look beautiful! Thanks for the how to, I am going to do this tomorrow!
califaspochita 4 years ago
It's really hard to list, because every eyeshape is unique. Eyeshape, plus eye size, plus eye placement, whether the eye protrudes or bulges, etc- lots of variations. I find people with small eyes or round eyes, it doesn't suit very well. But then again, there are also ways to get around it too... arrghgghgh... hard to answer this questions easily!

I love your videos
when people explain makeup techniques
to me it's usually hard to understand
and remember because they
make things so complicated,
but your videos
are amazing
you make things really basic
and easy to follow

Thanks!
nakedcowgirl 4 years ago
I'm so upset about that.
askmemakeup 4 years ago

Can I use light shady pink instead of brown eyeshadow? It's part of my "Warm" collection palette. Also does it really differ on what type of brush I use; whether it's the bristle type or the mini spongy type?
demonwolfie 4 years ago
If you don't use a bristle brush for your blush, just make sure you blend, blend and blend! Also, you could go for pink rather than brown. Brown would be better, but pink would work fine.

when you need to use a pigment wet, what do you use? do you use the MAC mix and medium ? it is so exspensiv :/ i need somthing cheeper.. and i saw in one of your videos that you where using somthing that works the same way the MAC mix and medium :) what was it ? plz. answere ;)
lovelymakeup 4 years ago
You can either just wet your brush, but it doesn't have the staying power that something like mixing medium has. I use Napoleon Perdis' Cake Line Sealer. Or something called Duraline. I've also heard you can use Visine, but I haven't tried it.

Do you recommend smokey eyes for a picture ?
I'm gonna have a photo shot in two weeks for the yearbook but I'm not sure what is the best makeup for that.
SARA00H 4 years ago
I think smokey eyes photograph well if you have light eyes. But if it's for your yearbook, you just want to do makeup that brings out your features. Take a look at my Classic Bridal video. There are a lot of principles there. You obviously wouldn't do your makeup as strong as that. But that look is designed to just bring out the feautres.
askmemakeup 4 years ago
Question..I always have the problem when I'm applying eyeshadow it always falls underneath my eyes/face, and then smudges..very messy! Do you just re-apply your foundation...OR..?!
tortalinixoxo 4 years ago
Yeah, it depends on how messy I've been, I just take a cotton pad with some makeup remover, just wipe under my eye and reapply concealer.
I'm so used to applying this smokey look, I find I don't have as much fallout for some strange reason!!!
askmemakeup 4 years ago
awesome tutorial! i was wondeirn if the rimmel definer Exaggerate full colour can be drawn in the lower lid of my eyes?
mooony1234 4 years ago
Yes it can. I find because it just glides on, it's actually better for the eye. It's not dry.
