This is so cute! I love all of your styles but I can't really do the classic pomp and roll ones because my hair is so curly. The simpler ones work, though. Thanks for doing these videos! :)
i had a play and i tried to do that bang it was super hard i love how you made so easy aha i loved the hair look imma use that hairstyle a lot now :D thanks for the tips oh btw i use that hairspray all the time and i love it <3
XD I completely agree about the hairspray - we use it all the time in choir...how do you do this hairstyle if you have no bangs, and really long hair?
@MEluvsu94 My hair has grown really long the past year along with my front layers, and I have started using Fleur's excellent tutorial to get the rolled bang look with super-long hair: youtube.com/watch?v=UfhhXW_iDn0
@MEluvsu94 Seems like YT won't let me post a working link, so search for "diaryofavintagegirl" you'll find Fleur's videos and the "1940s Faux Bang" one is the video you want! :)
The 40's and 50's style of hair and clothing is really nice, the women enhance their beauty and the men look more handsome I suppose, I really like it.
And you're a classic beauty so this style makes you look cute, pretty, elegant, and beautiful at the same time, well done :)
@Sbdesigngirl I don't use anything super special; just Tresseme shampoo/conditioner, a deep conditioner occasionally, and a clarifying shampoo about once-a-week. Nothin' expensive or fancy! ;)
@carlyforniakid Thank you! ;) I get that comment a lot (about Taylor Swift) when I'm out, and still don't see the resemblance (she's so pretty and reminds me of a wood nymph! ;). lol.
@elegantlyamused Awwuuh you replied to me :) haha yes, she is pretty, that's why you look like her. lol anyways thankyou for the video, i was thinking about being a girl from the 50's for halloween, this made me wanna be one even more ^__^
this top you have on looks beautiful, I wish I could see it better! Did you sew it, or has it been featured on your blog? I love the hair too, I will be trying it very soon! Thanks for your time!
good lordy girl, you remind me of one of those old shcool girls who is all goody goody home maker but when in bed straight anal for sure damn my mouth is already watering. i think im in love
Female perfection you are easily the most beautiful gal on Youtube. You women go through hell to look beautiful now i know why you take so long lol. I thought combing my hair was hell!
I've never tried some of these hair styles but always loved them. You make them look so easy I think I'll give them a shot! Thanks for being such a sweet teacher!
You are beautiful : ) Ive always wanted to try the 40's and 50s do's.. I think your tutorials might actually help me!! lol Im gonna try this look tomorrow.. hoping you have one on victory rolls..
Thanks, I think you've just done me a huge favour! I'm attending a birthday party in a month's time and it's going to be a masquerade. I'd like to dress in a fifties style uberwide skirt and I think this hairdo could work with that - especially since I don't have bangs and I think those were all the rage back in the day...
Agh! I freaking love you!! Haha sorry but really your such an inspiration!! But just a tiny pointer if you don't want frizzies use a comb rather than a brush.
It's okay, I finally understood how to roll my faux bang :) I got an awesome hairstyle for a rockabilly concert (The Baseballs), thank you so much for your tutorial!
I'm also a child out of time, and I'm really into 50s and 60s style. But anyway, just wanted to say that you look great in this video! Just like in the 50s! Thanks for all the tips!
omg it looks as if I am watching hair tutorial from the actual 1950s! how do you make the camera look as if it were from those days?? you look like a real girl from the 50s!! wow LOL
i was thinking the same thing! girl you should try to get in the show Mad Men, they would love you there, although thats 60's none the less i think you'd fit right in! youre gorgeous and youve got a great style! two thumbs up!!
Wow Can I just say what a brilliant tutorial. I'm going to a 50's themed party on Saturday and you've given me a great idea for my hair and for my make up too! Your whole look is fab, gonna watch and share some more of your videos now x x
Awesome video! I tried out this hairstyle the other day and not having styling putty, I found that Curel hand lotion worked just as well. Your tutorials are so great: can't wait for more!
This was awesome! I have so much hair that it's hard to do anything with it but I might try and play around wiht this style one day. You totally look like an old Barbie that I had from the 50's a family friend gave it to me and she had this same hairdo and about your color hair. So pretty!
Thank you! About the blush shade: I'm not sure what the shade is called, but it's honestly just Ulta's house brand! ;) It's just a nice, mid-tone peachy-pink.
i have a layered shoulder length haircut but the ends of the layers tend to stick out a lot. what would you recommend to do to have the layers curl in rather than out? thanks:)
I would recommend curling the ends under with a curling iron (a 1" barrel iron should be perfect), which will probably be the easiest with layers (as opposed to doing rollers). Sometimes I put my hair up, and then curl the ponytail with a curling iron! ;) (Just in small chunks.)

I really like this, You really explained the pin curl well. I think I will be able to do this! Thanks for all you do, I have really enjoyed your tutorials. Do you still get your hair cut 40's style? I am wondering if I should consider do that. Thanks!
I'm glad it worked for you! :) Yes, I still get my hair cut in 40s layers (I need to get a trim actually! :), and find it's very helpful if you're interested in doing this look on a regular/daily basis. Everything just goes together a bit more smoothly!
This is so pretty! I have naturally curly hair and its hard to try out some hairstyles cuz a lot of it is for straight hair. You should do another look involving curly hair if you know of one. :)
