@MaSSaSlaYeR revving an engine without mufflers isn't bad for an engine. That doesn't even make any sense. Removing the muffler only makes the car louder and can possibly reduce back pressure which can cause reduced power or MPG. It won't do any damage to the engine itself...

@atomrocketcar normally aspirated engines have critical back pressure requirements so removing cat likely to loose a lot of bottom end torque except at the very high revs, (unless you get a race tuner to model an exhaust based on computer generated airflow models - very rare most exhaust companies plonk a bigger exhaust on) On turbo engines the turbo regulates the back pressure so just chop the exhaust off straight after for big power, (like drag cars and sand rails)

And "mufflers" on sports cars do not always dampen the sound but filter out all the crappy frequencies en leave the nice ones and amplify these. Or the sound quality of this video is just crap :P
