  • When asked how he kept his skill up to scratch, he replied 'Cractice' (think about it)

  • Quite amazing!!

  • amazing xx

  • Ray Allen is a BasketBall player!!!

    This is Ray Alan

  • @spiderchan9 Holy EMBARRASSMENT!!! You are absolutely RIGHT! I must have been thinking of DAVE Allen (which IS spelled that way).

But this piece has been up for TWO YEARS - with currently over 118,000 hits and 236 comments - and NO-ONE NOTICED!

In fact more than half of the commentators misspelled it like ME!

I'm gonna correct the title now - I just hope the hits don't STOP!

Thanks for the heads-up - I just wish you'd come this way TWO YEARS AGO!

    Happy New Year.

    Mike.

  • Timeless entertainment, still hilarioiusly funny today

  • Just Brilliant.

  • I hear he's a great 3 point shooter

  • What an act! Arthur Worsely in in the same league _ fantastic*****************

  • Ventricklist - AHAHAAAAAA!!!!!!!! :D

  • An absolute classic routine from a genious in ventriloquism

  • absolutely brillient takes me back to being a kid :)

  • I find Orville soooooooo disturbing. :S Never seen Ray Allen before - he's marvelous!

  • the greatest of all time

  • love these two...

  • Ray Allen transcends the traditional sensibility of an Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy, or even today's ventro-comedians with an exquisitely controlled mask of gentle bemusement. Over all his mastery of both narrative code, ventriloquial technique, puppetry and personification is supeb. The inebriated Lord Charles' faulty' attempt at ventriloquism by way of the second character prop is an amazing ruse. The enchantment of illusion here is at its best.

  • That thing really looks like Iain Lee

  • That's Iain Lee.

  • @djnotfound Jesus, he wasn't kidding. I'd have probably kept that to myself if I were him.

  • how does the second dummy work?

  • @ThePopcorn12 - I always figured Ray was working it with his FOOT!

  • @ThePopcorn12 - I think the clue is in the large box they are seated at - room enough for another person to be concealed??

  • Brilliant, thx for sharing.

  • That thing looks like Tom Hanks.

  • I also remember Titch and Quackers who I believe the late Ray Alan

worked with back in 1963. I think it was on the 5 O'Clock Special or

    something like that

  • "I was just going to do that.. I wish you wouldn't interfere."

    LAWL!!

  • We need to go down another level.

  • sounds like bon scott in the big balls song

  • yo dawg i heard you like puppets

  • Yo Dawg, we heard you like ventriloquism, so we gave a dummy a dummy so he could dummy while Ray Allen dummies, you dummy.

  • Gy my word, its a gyewtiful kerfornance.

  • Why don't you allow this video to be viewed on a mobile?

  • @jeffrey44 Not me, friend. It must be one of the vagiaries of YouTube.

  • @jeffrey44 p.s. I've tried "nudging" the "syndication" button - it MAY work on mobiles now...

  • incredible

  • So funny. So brilliant. :-)

  • Wow, this guy is amazing!

And yeah, how does he say "p"? It's a mystery... o.O

  • How on earth do ventriloquists say "M" words without any lip movement???

  • and no ones mentioned gustin gieber.

  • 3 geokle gink gottles of geer

  • bloody brilliant/// well done ray

  • Fantastic! Absolutely fantastic! Keith Harris and cuddles were the best combination from my childhood but this was almost as good!

  • Maybe they should have cut down Lord Charles salary, to put an end to his surreptitious drinking...lol. Is there anyone who have anything else with Ray Allen and would be kind enough to upload it??

  • I never thought I'd laugh so much watching this.

  • Ray Allen - what a consummate performer. Brought back many memories from happier times.

  • This man and Arthur Worsley are the best I've seen. I remember Ray from earliest memories. Only just discovered Arthur's act after watching a Paul Merton presented variety documentary on BBC4 last night. His dummy does all the talking and just torments him! There's a few clips on here worth checking out. He was British, and was also big in the US in the '60s.

  • I can't believe I've never seen this before! This is hysterical!

  • Ray Allen...the ultimate consummate ventriloquist and his friend, non other than The Quintessential English Gentleman (and ventricklist) Lord Charles.

I loved it when Ray challenged Lord Charles' ability in ventriloquism, but was soon made to look silly and put on the spot himself, proving just what a masterful ventricklist Lord Charles really is....hahahaha..Brilliant and ever so funny

  • iain lee you dark horse

  • @kaferere- it was the news today about a woman in the States dying of some illegal "bigger buttocks" injection that reminded me of this pair. "You silly arrrrse" was their catchphrase, with emphasis on the letter 'r'.

  • "i'm the vantrickelist!"

  • I love discovering new ventriloquists and this guy sets a new standard for all of us. Unfortunately, his standards are pretty dang high! No cussing, no vulgarity, a drunken dummy with a dummy. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

  • Ray Alan was a genius. He is my all-time favorite ventriloquist, and I can't say enough about him. His technique, lip control, manipulation, timing are all perfect. But his strongest skill had to be his characterization. Lord Charles is one of the most original and unique vent characters in history. He is missed.

  • @KJSuranna I'll definitely give your comment the thumbs-up. I agree with you entirely :)

  • THIS GUY IS THE ALL TIME GREAT. A REAL MASTER AT HIS ART. CANNOT HELP BUT LAUGH EVERY TIME I SEE THEM. LOVED THEM SINCE I FIRST SAW THEM DECADES AGO.

  • genius.

  • wow fantastic, really puts some "professionals" to shame

  • The finest Vent in the world, bar none. Brilliant routine and very very clever.

  • This guy plays for the Celtics?!

  • rip ray sadly missed

  • simply the best

  • I'm only 20 so i think this is before my time, but this is comedy genius.

    What a fantastic routine.

  • ps, thanks for this brill posting morpheusatloppers

  • ray and the lord were such a huge part of my teenage years that i feel as though i have lost a friend, make that two friends, there are people in show business that you just KNOW are truly nice people, ray allen is at the top of the list. a charming and extremely talented chap that will be very sadly missed by all who knew him and didn't know him. rip ray.

  • He was the greatest.

  • Absolute class, different league altogether. Thanks for posting.

  • Utterly brilliant. As well as keeping in character as to who is saying what, Ray Allen still performs a magnificent ventriloquist act, whilst keeping the calm composure of an accomplished, debonair artist , and, without resorting to slapstick or cheap gags, he makes it all completely believable. What a shame there are so few true entertainers like him. A true master at work.

  • What an act!

    Absolutely outstanding!

  • grew up with ray allen and lord charles and he was so funny , an amazing talent , just ill laughing again at him

  • Just genius, and what a classy guy. How he manages to get such utter contempt behind those three words "You silly ass" , I don't know. Thanks so much for posting.

  • childhood memories, silly arse lol.....

  • Lord Charles appears to be slightly inebriated.

  • I have never seen him before but he made me laugh HARD at that clip. That was hysterical! The guy was a genius! Such a complete diverse personality and so damn funny!

  • RIP Ray, It was a priviledge to meet you a few years ago, it was more of one to see your act. Sheer genius which no one will ever emulate.

    Graham

  • Brilliant ventriloquism from a world class master and a tight script that's funny as hell!!! Ray we'll miss you.....a great British entertainer. JC

  • He was a total genius and brilliantly funny.

  • Absolutely brilliant, I always thought this guy was the best ever. Thanks so much for posting.

  • It's just amazing to watch Ray at work!! I remember seeing him 20 odd years ago, wondering "how the heck does he DO that?". Seeing him again now, I still don't know how he manages to pull it off. A genuine "Performing Artist" if ever there was one. Probably the best "vent" you'll ever see..........Lord Charles is so REAL...especially if you see more than just this one routine....

Many thanks Ray for you talent, gifts and for sharing them with us.

  • If ever there was an outstanding genius,it was ray alan.He created the worlds most known character in Lord charles, whom will also have to be layed to rest with his master Ray Alan.I was honoured and priviliged to have seen ray and lord charles live at the Gala show at the blackpool magic convention several years ago,What a proffessional...R.I.P. Ray........

    Graham ( Manchester )

  • He was the best.

  • i remember these 2 from when i was younger

  • Amazing!

  • YOU SILLY ARSE!!!!!!

  • The worlds best, and a nice man as well. Sleep well Ray, and thanks for the memories,

  • simply the best no1 not another like him and there will never be another

    R I P ray

    nick cox hull

  • Looks Like he could have been in thunderbirds.

  • im a ventwikalist

  • There simply was none better than he. Pure joy, delicious.

  • Bloody funny. Why can't we have some real entertainment on TV instead of the crap amateur talent shows.

  • @LOCOMOTIONNUMBER1 Hear Hear and Amen to that!

  • Priceless

  • Lord Charles used to scare the SHIT out of me as a child.

  • @Cookster5 - LOL!!! I never thought of him that way - but I see what you mean!

  • @Cookster5 He always reminded me of the Thunderbirds.

  • @Cookster5 - Ray Allen was simply the best...and don't forget Lord Charles.

  • the dummy sounds like british bill cosby.

  • @condiersea

I was thinking the same thing as soon as he first mangled "ventriioquist"!

  • I used to watch Ray and Charles on Cartoon Carnival - if the cartoons were rubbish i knew the intro's would always amuse. Perhaps it is some tribute to his great skill that when I think of him I actually think of Lord Charles and that slurred delivery first. "There he is, there he is...." I have laughed tears since finding this wonderful routine on youtube. Thanks so much Ray.

  • a true and total genius the best vent act there has ever been ,gone but not forgotten.R.I.P ray and lord charles.

  • AMAZING!

  • This guy puts Jeff Dunham to shame.

  • @Thycid That is what I said before scrolling down, fn amazing.

  • @Thycid

Jeff Dunham is funny, but probably looks up to Ray Allen even now.

  • @Thycid

jeff is better asshole and funnier and HOT

  • @vittoria743 He's funnier to less intelligent people with no class such as yourself so yes I agree to an extent. As for sexiness I don't care what the comedian looks like. If they have no talent (such as Jeff) who cares what they look like?

  • Nobody even comes close to Ray. Not only in his flawless technical ability but the way he can make you believe that Lord Charles is a real person he's having a real conversation with. The man was a total genious and will be sadly missed.

  • Amazing!

  • without doubt Ray Allen was the best vent act ever. this clip is technically so good, so clever and so funny. Lord Charles' catchphrase "you silly arse" will live on. RIP Ray, sadly missed.

  • Aint it funny how they dont perceive audiences to have the attention span to watch this kinda stuff anymore.

  • Absolute genius. We'll miss him.

  • My favourite vent act. Lord Charles, as usual, has had too much gin and tonic and is being quite cheeky to Ray Alan. R.I.P and "Thank You.

  • RIP ray & lord charles babe;

    :o)

  • rest in peace Ray, you were fabulaous

  • RIP Ray

  • I used to love that emu that he did and cookie bear was good as well ;-)

  • Apparently, Lord Charles was speechless when he heard the news.

RIP Ray (One of the very best in the biz).

  • Brilliant! Unsurpassed.......RIP

  • Tich and Quakers were his other creations.. Wonderful memories... RIP

  • Sad to hear of Ray’s passing, always enjoyed his many TV appearances when I was a kid and was certainly the greatest ventriloquist of his era.

    RIP

  • RIP Ray and Charles, genius act

  • Someone please put me out of my misery. He had another dummy as well i'm sure.

    But who/what was it????

  • @helltopay1

Was his other dummy a cat?

  • @youngian67 Hi thanks but actually I got it,a schoolboy called tich

  • @helltopay1 He had two characters called Titch and Quackers in the sixties. One was a schoolboy simillar to Lord Charles and Quackers was a white duck.

  • R.I.P.

  • R.I.P Ray. One of the greatest entertainers of his time

  • RIP...very talented man.

  • Ray Allen, fantastic stuff. I must confess, when I was younger I loved you but over the years forgot how amazing you were/are. The talent superceeds anything from todays generation. I will enjoy this for years (and not forget this time). RIP old boy.

  • rip ray allen u will never be forgotten

  • I'm having trouble stopping laughing.

"Pleeze goys in the gand can I has my myoozik?"

  • @anthrax2525 " Have you ever tried saying "hospital" without moving your mouth?" is the bit that gets me - brilliant!

  • RIP Ray - 60's and 70's wouldn't have been the same without you. Thanks for the happiness.

  • R.I.P thanks for the memories, always made me kaugh as a kid in the 70's and 80's

  • This is Really worth watching! How he manages to get a vent's dummy to use a second dummy and then play with words is amazing. RIP Ray Allen and thanks for the tears of laughter! Please watch this!

  • @Resholden I love this too, but Jeff Dunham did this as well (after Ray of course!) But he did it with Peanut and Peanut operating a dummy that looks suspiciously like Jeff!

  • The GREAT Ray Alan ; another piece of my childhood gone forever but i still have the memories. Thanks Ray for Charles and all the fun !

  • Rest in peace Ray! Will be sadly missed! xx

  • Had never heard of Ray Allen until today, but this is amazing.

  • @mattkris2007 its ALAN ; its spelt wrongly on here

  • I love the fact that Lord Charles has a microphone strapped on. This really is a masterclass in how to do ventriloquism properly. Ray Alan's reactions and timing are magnificent. Also a gentle dig at Keith Harris!

  • One of the great's "You silly arse" One of his great catchprase's; or was it Lord Charles? R.I.P Ray.

  • I was so sorry to learn Ray had passed away...he was true quality & as kids, we used to love him.....great fun....oh, i love the look at 5.39 here....pure comedy.......

  • At the news of Rays sad death Lord Charles had no comment!

  • Class, quality, and a masterclass in ventriloquism. Rest in Peace dear Ray, you are a legend.

  • @stevej7332 well said Steve ; Ray and Charles were the best

  • Just heard that Ray has died today. This was Ray's greatest routine in my opinion, he was second to none and Lord Charles was second to anyone.... R.I.P. Ray 'cos you really were the best

  • Wonderful stuff. I remember this routine from years ago. He'll be sadly missed.

  • RIP

  • I'd forgotten just how good he was. Brilliantly performed.

    RIP.

  • This guy was the best. Lord Charles was always slightly the worse for drink. And as any one will tell you doing a drunk routine on stage is not easy. Ray makes it look so easy. RIP and thanks for all the laughs in the words of Lord Charles "You silly a**e!

  • RIP Ray Allen; one of, if not "the", finest ventiloquists in the world.

  • R. I. P.

  • See you on the other side Ray. Any kid growing up in the 80s will appreciate this man's contribution to Saturday evening entertainment. All the best. x
