I have 6 dogs, 3 are pits. I have NEVER been bitten by a pit, but I have been bitten by several other breeds. Pits are the most human friendly dog I have ever known in my 64 years, and I have had close to 100 dogs in my lifetime. Yes, if they do bite it's bad. Many other so called family friendly dogs also have a very bad bite, and they bite more often. However, the dog will act and react according to the way it is raised. So, just as a gun doesn't kill, the owner does, just as with dogs.

@MilitantOldLady Concluding from your statements you're not very bright, and certainly uneducated on the breeds, if not all breeds. There are many dogs bred for a purpose, not just the apbt. Greyhounds, Dogo Argentino's, Labrador/Golden retrievers etc. all have/had a biting-based purpose breedingwise. Same with the apbt, and all these dogs were trained and handled by humans for sport/hunting, meaning they are friendly towards humans. The most non-human agressive dog is the apbt.

Why this breed today is still alive? because it has the most human-like face, and facial expressions. Also the apbt has the most, far most, capable bodytype for any job if bred properly. Statistics show pitbulls have very little biting incidents, especially since there are so many, and even though other breeds get mistaken for them.

i am a patron of my local RSPCA, i have a dog and i go there as often as i can to bring donations...they frequently have pitbulls there, never have i seen one that was anywhere close to being "tame"...even after months of rehabilitation, they are still completely unpredictable and savage...we had one that was supposedly re-socialized when he attacked another dog for no reason and mauled him nearly to death
