this album really defines the amazing sounds coming out of the thrash genre at this point in time, you could argue seasons in the abyss or master of puppets, but i think this album combines all the elements of that genre and expands on them whilst still maintaining originality. fucking great record. i remember getting it as a teenager and fucking flipping out over igor's wicked drums...badfuckingass.

I can't remember if it was this song and sepultura or Morbid Angel's "immortal rites" that first made me realize there was something heavier than the big four. Nothing wrong with those bands, I still love Megadeth and Anthrax but after a few years I craved for something faster, darker and I guess much more "gritty". To me its like watching all the skin flicks on Skinemax for years and then being introduced to porn. It was like "Holy sh#t this is real".

Which was such a a perfect concert, most concerts you have opening bands that are very similiar to the main act but the "Farewell" No More Tears Ozzy show, had Sepultura, Alice in Chains, and then Ozzy. Three very different acts, it was like going to a buffet to get very different food on the same plate.

But This form of thrash is a little darker and more aggressive though, some fans refer to it as Deathrash, because it has some elements of old school death metal and old school thrash mixed together. Other albums that have a similar sound as this one would be Death "Spiritual Healing" ... or .. Slayer "Seasons in the Abyss"
