  • in my opinion, the new GT500 will win on the drag strip, but the ZL1 will win everywhere else.

  • @Boss1186 Its camoflouge so photographers cannot take proper pictures of the new design changes done to the vehicles.

  • @Boss1186 it's to distort the look of the car to hide fascia changes and minor cosmetic changes. it's not very effective, but it helps.

  • @corvettels9 Good ear. the 2012 ZL1 has a Supercharged 6.2L LSA V8 taken from the Cadillac CTS-V.

  • @RobNttBob if I remember correctly, it gets 580 HP and 556 Torque. but it'll weigh 4,120 pounds. but it'll go 0 - 60 in 4.0 seconds and finished a lap of the nurburgring in 7:41.

  • @Goirdy Why so heavy chevy? I was thinking about 3,500 pounds if it wanted to keep up with the GT500 but 0-60 in 4.0 seconds is pretty beast. Can't wait to see this car side by side with the GT500 though. Do you know if Dodge will make some sort of Charger or Challenger super car?

  • @lilgoss912 No, it could be the camera that's making it look wider because it uses the same body as the SS.

  • Between watching the Boss 302 take that turn and the Camaro, the Camaro went around the turn better. Noticable difference. Was being pushed harder though, most likely cause it can be. The checker design is to eliminate deep perceptions on cameras. They can't cover the car up to the point it takes it aerodynamics away so there isn't any getting away from someone knowing its a Camaro, but they can at least not allow detail of the curviture.

  • @asdfghjkl10531 it was a joke. and no it's not default paint. they often use checkers or stripes to hide the shape underneath for new cars during testing. kind of like an optical illusion. but since this car is already released, everyone already knows the new camaros shape.

The reason why the Camaro and Firebird were discontinued was because they weren't selling enough profit off of these cars. That doesn’t sound like winning to me... Unless you’re Charlie Sheen. I didn't come here to talk shit because I do like the Camaro, although I am more of a Mustang fan, I just want to get peoples facts straight. Ok, maybe I was talking a little trash to you...   • @SHTINONCHEVY Lets hope you dont hit a bump on the road though......remeber those numbers are from a totally smooth test track and have no bearing on real world performance. I have driven both cars and trust me real world the camaro is a much better handling car. There is no comparison. That being said, I give the mustang credit for it's straight line performance, it is brutally heartstopping, but thats all it is, a straight line car. On a real road with curves and bumps it's in 3rd all the time

  • @hackman03. I'm not really a big fan of Porsche or Ferrari though and I agree with you when put against those machines. Actually I find the handling on Porsche to be going downhill as time goes on... and Ferrari has never had that great of handling as far as I'm concerned..

  • In comparison to the GT500, which is it's only rival at this point, but the Z28 is heavier & the displacement is .8L more than the GT500. The only thing the Z28 has over the GT500 is the use of independent rear suspension. And the entire Mustang lineup will lose the live rear axle in the next couple of years and go to IRS.

  • In 1969 The Boss 302 and the Z/28 competed in SCCA trans am racing with engine size restriction of 5.0 liters. Its nice to see that when Ford wants to relive those days that can do it while staying true to the heritage of what the car was. Why doesn't Chevy bring back the Z/28 with a 302 like they did back in the day?

    The mustang GT500 has 550 HP, and this year they're making a model with 619 HP with barely a price difference.

  • @PolishStud101 And this is a Z28, with the Supercharged LSA, 550HP in the Cadillac CTS-V, with improvements being set on what Chevy does with it. Considering the ZR1 is actually what Chevy sets to compete with the GT500, the Camaro doesn't need any more than 550 HP.

    Does Cadillac CTS-V or Corvette ZR1 ring a bell? Check out how they did on the Nordschleife on YT (hehe). Maybe you´re living under a rock because you have an auto,motor&sport subscription, or you just can´t face the fact that american cars kick ass even when it comes to the most demanding track on earth. Time to wake up.

  • @knaagi I love American cars and I am an American, but even I'll admit American Cars are behind the ball in terms of good handling. They make good power, but handling is something that the foreign manufacturers are supreme at. That being said, Ford has certainly moved forward quite a bit in their handling department if I was on a twisty track I'd take a Ford over a Chevy without question.

  • Sounds great. Runs great... though the driver apparently got a bit sloppy on the track run. Very respectable. Now if only the Trans Am racing series (the car too), were back AND big time this would make the decade.
