  • Hotpoint is now Indesit re-badged.

  • @paulinroyton Polish workers are excellent. They are very similar to Germans. I recently had a boiler installed by a Polish Plumber wow was this guy knowledgeable. I had 4 other people come to my house to give a quote all English and to be honest all i could think of was ' How do i get you out of here quick. The boiler has been running for 3 months fault free with no leaks and the pipework is immaculate. This is my experience. I am very pleased.

  • My Ariston is over 15 years old, still going strong - no problems although will say the dryer never worked that well as standalone dryer. Had 4 moves including taking it abroad where it only took a cold water input ( more use on internal water heater for past 10 years). Used by a family at least twice every day.... So heavy usage and no breakdowns. Guess it depends on your luck - my next purchse will be another Hotpoint AristonAQ8L49U

  • Bosch every time for me too!! I bought one of there washing machines 8 or 9 years ago and it`s great, now my tumble dryer, oven, and hob are all Bosch....great stuff!! Before that, had 2 hotpoints in 18 months - the bearings went on both, I won`t be buying that cr*p again. My mother had an Indesit washing machine at the same time and it did more engineer visits than washes.....total crap again

  • if your looking for a budjet machine go with a john lewis.their aeg chassis.or for the ultimate theres no beating miele.

  • We've got an Ariston we bought in 2003. Since then it's had a grand total of 4 faults. 1 When it was new, as can be expected with Electrical devices. Ariston were out the next day to repair it. the programmer crapping out. The currys warrenty people were out the next day. The bearings went square, 2 days and Currys were out with a new set of bearings and the 4th was the pump dieing. Currys again were out the next day. I think you must have been doing somthing wrong.

  • lol what kind of muppet are you to defend a piece of junk like an Ariston which has gone faulty many times over a few years? which you admit!! My Bosch has never gone wrong!

  • I had a Hotpoint. Never again. Useless at washing and spin that shredded socks! I had to replace after two years when it caught fire!

I Saved a fortune by buying Miele which is on its tenth year with no problems. The Miele has turned out to be a very cheap machine.

  • Hotpoint are the most reliable brand I've used. My washing machine (20+ yrs) still works well. Never had a problem with it. Made in [Great] Britain.

  • dude maybe 20 years ago Hotpoint were good! probably were now they are junk! Just the name badge stuck on a really nasty piece of crap! think about it!! lol

  • After dealing with no end of frustration with an Ariston dishwasher, my advice is to avoid anything Ariston like the plague!! Lorraine

  • My mothers Hotpoint lasted 10 years! In the final year the call out man Mr Murphy came three times. Today we have bought a Bosch washing machine / drier! The model is a new machine £499.99 plus £42.42 for fitting and taking away the old model, model was bought at comet!

  • ok is this vid slagging off the 3 companies or currys????it doesnt matter where you buy it from if it breaks down it will, that has nothing to do with the shop and it is customer choice.

  • aimed at companies of manufactuers who make and sell junk......

  • hotpoint ariston and indesit are the same company cheap crappy italian junk that is sold on the cheap to people because thats what they want. Even your bosch washer dryer isnt made by them as its made in a factory in spain just wait until it goes wrong and see how much the parts will cost you!!!!!!!

  • It has not gone wrong........

  • i did say wait until it does but if people stopped buying all the cheap junk then perhaps manufacturers would go back to making stuff of good quality like they used to

  • Love your video !! I had a similar problem with a Hotpoint WD61. 1 year and 1 week old and it leaked. I agree that their product quality is poor these days. I am now regretting buying an indesit/hotpoint fridge. See my video

  • Have to admit, my dealings with Hotpoint / Ariston / Indesit have been strained to say the least, although on the minimum compared to the number that work properly. My store sells alot because people want the cheaper ones instead of the Miele and Bosch.

  • Thank you

  • oi ariston are good

  • ariston are crap i used to own one for 5 long years at least 9 breakdowns cheap and very very nasty.......

  • our one lasted for 10 years

  • a true miracle...........behold

  • i have a hotpoint wt960, 15months old and not a single problem, considering what abuse i give it (check out my vids), previously i had a hotpoint wd64 washer dryer, it lasted 4 years and did about 5000loads of washing and drying in it's lifetime. the first problem came with it - falty condensor, 2nd problem i think was a jammed suspension arm (which i caused at the time by me overloading the machine)

  • I was told the old hotpoint machines were good. Due to trying to make things cheaper the quality has dropped my Miele machine should last approx 20 years 4 years of use not one problem.i would never buy a british made washing machine again sad but true to much hassle.......

  • Nothing to do with Curry's thats where i bought the washing machine from and the extended warranty......They decided to stock low quality products i found out the hard way! "someone has to try an protect the name of Currys and the Dixon "....are you mentally ill"? lol They couldnt give a toss about you! wake up and smell the coffee baby!!

  • whats the point in this video, nothing better to do, honestly.

  • Its 'YOUTUBE' you muppet! You make video's and raise issues etc etc.....derrrrrrr

  • Do you work for Curry's?.........yes me thinks!

  • Hotpoint used to be a good brand util merloni (indesit) took them over. They have taken a good brand and turned it into a cheap shambolic organistion that was reminisent of their own shortfalls prior to 2002.

Such a shame.....HAving been an employee of GDA - (the original owners of hotpoint) for 20 odd years, I couldn't wait to get out once these w*ankers took over.

  • Well for the record Hotpoint have some rather nice machines. We've only ever had one failiure from the Aqualtis line of all we've sold. Some of those Indeshits coming in recently are falling apart out the box! But thats what people want these days, and thats what you get for shopping at the big corperates instead of supporting small local businesses.

  • well supporting local shops is a nice idea if you can afford to do that typically you will pay more to do so! usually quite alot more and when the local shop has sold the washing machine you have to deal with the manufacturer for warranty anyway! so best advice is buy from pricerunner/co/uk and save cash just buy Miele,Bosch or AEG you might be lucky with the other brands but why take the risk its just not worth all the hassle!!!!!!!! The cheap machines are JUNK!!

  • Well...not really no. The local shop is the first port of call whenever something goes wrong with the machine and usually they will deal with the manufacturer for you. In most cases people who buy from us will have their washing machine replaced within a day at no extra charge. You dont get service like that from internet dealers-you get to install it yourself, dump the old one, and you get to pay for new kitchen floors if the old one flooded.

Yeah, local shops are a total rip off.

  • Sounds great but the reality of it is small shops can be difficult to deal with once youve handed over the cash they see you as 'hassle' if you come back with problems best bet buy a miele with 10 years miele warranty parts and labour problem solved no currys to deal with or small shop owners who are trading on a knife edge who cant afford to take the product back!!()even if they wanted to) miele machines are designed to work for 20 years!!

  • Against my advice, my parents have just brought a Hotpoint built-in washing machine. It cost them £300 (bank hol offer). There reasoning is if it lasts them 3 years, they'll have got their moneys worth! I'd say if £ is tight, go for a Beko, but preferably stretch that little more and get a Zanussi. If you can afford a little more, an Bosch or AEG and if you have £450 or more to spend, a Miele.

  • A few days ago i got a request for monies owed for a service call and parts used by Ariston they say i have not got any cover!!(But phone them if i have??) my 5 year warranty parts and labour is still valid up to the end of this month once again dealing with these muppets is simply a joke.......they want £90-00 now i have to spend more time phoning them up giving them cover details...........They have now elevated themselves to a 'Bunch of wankers!!' Enough said............

  • i phoned Ariston customer services last friday they told me it was their mistake i do not owe them any money!! 30 minutes wasted on the phone after checking all paer work etc etc etc..........Just buy a Bosch Miele or AEG basically anything German.......

  • It may interest you to know that The Indesit Group owns : Ariston, Hotpoint, Indesit, Scholtes, Cannon, Creda - They've quite a collection at this stage. From what I gather, their washing machines are all now the same design.

  • I also recommend avoiding Hoover-candy machines.

Mine cost me £200 worth of clothes damaged.

Both Hoover/Currys state machine working to specification so they wouldnt do anything, even though the problems started at 6 months.

  • you guys are forgetting one really awesome brand, Whirlpool i have had my Whirlpool since 1976 and it is still working to this day. Another great brand is Kenmore.

  • I work at Currys and YES HOTPOINT/ARISTON/IN-DA-SHIT are the WORST manufacturer around. I hate them so much and they hate Currys. Which is probably why you had so much trouble. But they get them on the cheap I expect which is why they sell... sadly!

  • THANK GOD FOR THAT!

Currys has one less jack ass as a customer!

Did you take out what ever happends? NO! then how can you blame currys? its mad!

  • Wow you seem a nice friendly guy. one less jack ass as a customer! Hey did you sell me my washing machine lol? yes i did take out the five year warranty. which Magazine say they are a waste of money! i know that now.

  • well tis true that i work for currys so i do get annoyed sometimes when people blame currys for faulty products when its the maker of the product. But at least now you have found a product that suits you! And not all stores are the same like my store in stamford is great! Got bless currys and all that shop and work in her!

  • The trouble is when curry's sell you a washing machine if anything goes wrong you have to contact the manufacturer direct through their customer services that's when I got a problem with the Ariston group of companies after 9 breakdowns they refused to right it off. On two occasions after waiting in all day the Ariston engineers did not turn up! Curry's weren't any help they just refer you to the manufacturer. The experience is bad. They get you to the point where you feel 'broken'

  • I don't blame the staff but do blame the corperate- avoid blame game currys play.

Under 1979 sale of goods act, the product has to be fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality.

If a machine goes wrong that many times in under 12 months currys is legally responsible.

  • the machine failed 9 times within 4 1/2 years wow using the curry's warranty is a nightmare!! service men never turned up on two occaions and never even phoned to explain i had to phone the helpdesk again...just buy an AEG Bosch or Miele through pricerunner NEVER TAKE OUT EXTEDED WARRANTIES unless its with the manufactuer or YOU will suffer at some point!

  • Heh, Indesit is known as "IndeSHIT" by Curry's staff. Whatever happens product support will get your washing machine fixed for free! (Although its a complete rip off) No-one buys Ariston cause no-one else does. Hotpoint customer service is one of the worst so, so far i guess Bosch really is a good washing machine!

  • 5 starred now...;P

  • cool

  • Don't be too convinced... both our Bosch washer and dryer needed £200 repairs when they were 3 years old!

  • fair enough but ariston would have cost us 9 times call out whatever that is plus parts

  • Actually the best brand by far is Miele then Bosch and AEG but surprisingly the most reliable is Tricity Bendix according to 'Which' online but they don't have the best wash etc and there's only a few points in it between the other brands I have mentioned for reliability

  • cood video

  • The Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXL129 and Indesit WIA121 claim the dubious honour of being the first two washing machines we'd recommend that all Which? members avoid. In our latest test, these models struggled to get the basics right. Both were poor at removing tough stains,. The Hotpoint's easy-care program is also far from the best. Don't be tempted by the two machines' desirably short wash times because, overall, they have too many weaknesses to be worth buying.

  • Cheers for the response. Only took 20 mins to create this 'video' as you can tell. Its my little get back at Currys and Ariston who just couldn't care. But saying that when you buy something you expect it to work so if one person avoids all the hassle its worth this video! Thanks Dude

  • interesting. see thats the problem with modern washers is that they breakdown quicker than retro washers. ariston and indesit and hotpoint are the same company really anyway so they all break. best are LG Bendix and as u say Bosch :-)
