:-\ I don't get why the Falcons used IS names for their battlemechs, names which probably had not been designated yet. Also, that Summoner never looked like much of a Summoner. The Summoner is supposed to have an offset cockpit as well as a cylindrical missile pod. I suppose other than that, it looked remarkably like it, but... :x
Alt5hough I could have said this, disreragrd if I have: The Clans ALL use the Omni Mech name for their 'Mechs- because they are, basiccaly, Clan 'Mechs. In the cartoon, they only refer to them with IS names because the show is aimed at kids and so calling a 'Mech more than one thing would just confuse the little buggers.
Probably, but that was the first time the names of those 'mechs were used at all, and I don't think they were used much more (if at all) after that. The only time after this that "Thor" may have been said again (that I can remember) was probably on the last episode with the trial of possession where they announce which 'mechs they were using.
@CrazyEnzo03 They use them because the cartoon was made for children and would confuse the little tyke audience if the names kept changing.
A lot of people have complained that the cartoon didn't keep to the canon of the series (in books) but, it WAS for children, so that can be overlooked, unlike most other things in the toon series.
@thalmar7 It's irritating (for me, at least) because I always use the Clan names for their Omni's and never the IS equivalent, because if you're going to call a 'mech something, at least have the decency to call it by its rightful name. Quiaff?
Wow. I'd have serious respect for anyone willing to try that maneuver with the pop-up mines on the Sloth. I mean, driving that little thing underneath a full-sized mech that could very easily stomp you into paste, in order to plant a mine where it hurts? Just, wow.
gimme a crusader and a victor jump jets on a heavy mech can any1 say death from above :) but all around fav was always centurion lrm pack 10 jump jets ac5 or in the case of yin-lo-wang ac20
no, because the IS classifies the Maddog as the Vulture and the Summoner as the Thor.
its in the lore that the IS did not know the names of most of the new models of mechs that came out and gave them an IS desination. Timberwolf = Mad Cat, Dire Wolf = Diashi ect.
This show has aged well. I remember getting up early to watch this. It's really too bad that the series was so short lived. This is one of my favorite episodes in the series!
Clans people dress mostly in the colours of their own Clan (Jade Falcons in green for example) but they can wear anything they want so long as it suits their need.
Clans people do not normally wear hats either. The only real head piece they wear is that by the Khan, which is a mask in the Councel Chambers during a meeting which depicts their totem animal. This is just one small notch in the animated series that errs from the books.
i was reffering to how someone said the comstar officer looked like a klueklux klan member. I wasnt reffering to the jade falcom clan... but noeww that ya mention it what is up with there outfits?
freeburth scum u will fall at the talons of the jade falcons! they rule p.s kodiak was made by ghoust bear clan they rule too my clan mech i use the most outaa of them all is the timberwolf in mechwarrior mercs {i transformed a madcat}
il agree with with the fact the bushwhacker is an awsome mech but its gota be the Timberwolf for me. A nice looking clan mech thats well round and hard as nails.
Depends who uses the crypt-name... for Clans its "Mad Dog", for innerspheere its "vulture. So coled "Mad Cat" is supposed to be colled "Timber Wolf" by clans
It's still called Timber Wolf; it's just the clan designator. It was originally known as the Mad Cat before more was learned about Clan technology. Just grabbed the new print of TRO:3050 Upgrade hot off the press...it lists the Mad Cat as both that and the Timby still.
the Awesome mounts multiple PPCs, right? plus several lazer and missile arrays? just double checking my information that I don't wanna bother arguing with whiney smeggs. great show though, shows like this should eventually become public domain, like abandonware games.
thanks, I'll have to remember that. it's just that I've had a very limited exposure to the actual games; computer, tabletop and otherwise. I know there's no actual point for me to argue this because I'll most likely be wrong. thanks again!
I would have thought no more than an inch or two, futurisric armour may be light and strong but a lot of space and weight is needed for the servos and motors that make the mechs walk. All hail the mighty Mad-Cat may you pwn all lesser mechs!
Aye! Hail invincible Mad Cat! The most recognised Mech ever! In every trademark, on almost every box with MW there was Mad Cat... Look at now, at Mechwarrior Dark Age by WizzKids, it also has MadCat in logo!
Correction: Tank armor is crapped up paper mache that is more for comfort (Except Furies and Challenger MBT's- known for slugging it out with Mechs-) whilst Mech armor is far mroe than one or two inches! At the least armor on the Firemoth is 3 inches, The Vulture's armor is 5 inches, and the Dire Wolf's armor... is legendary.
You know, what every person that ahs posted a comment has had a different KNOWN FACT about the thickness of a mechs armour so why doesnt everyone go to solaris 7 and get SOME REAL GODDAMN INFROMATION!!
A M1 tank weighs about 65 tons in real life and these mechs are huge! so how can they only weight 50 to 100 tons? They must be made out of a exreamly light material or in the future we weigh stuff diffrently.
??? are you sure??? The Gargoyle is renowned for mounting a Gauss Rifle in the dead centre of the chassis, plus the gargoyle mounts ballistics from here to hell and back and the awesome is a well known beam specialist are you sure you've gotten correct information?
Damn it shadowcat, since when does the Inner Sphere start using Gargoyles? The Awesome only uses the pulse lasers on its arms. And, the Gargoyle has NO beam slots OR the capacity to hold beam weaponry on its arms. IT has two autocannons. And I didn't see them on the 'gargoyle'.
Did she say at 11:49 Vulture? I always believed Clanners called this 'Mech "Mad Dog"
MsGunMetal 1 month ago
@MsGunMetal "Vulture" is the Inner Sphere name for the Clan Mad Dog OmniMech and, later, a very poorly manufactured substitute.
harkeill 4 weeks ago
@harkeill yeah, the IS name. I simply wouldn't expect a Falcon Star Colonel to use IS codenames.
