BAnks engineering: 15psi of boost doubles the displacement of an engine...Do the math.

@GMisurdaddy I'm pretty sure the aerodynamics have a much more important role than the gear ratios, after all, the zr1 is well over 550 horse at the wheels, and the Ford GT is quite a bit under that, yet it still cuts through the air like butter. (zr1 also has plenty of gear left at 200 mph BUT it can't seem to really push much past that)

However the C6 ZR1 is computer not drag limited at 205. Jay Leno the owner of the #1 ZR1, stated it would do more than 210 mph with out the limiter. Let me correct you with the ZR1 dyno's 530 rwhp not well over 550,Hennessy proved that. The lilimter is why it doesn't push much after 200.
@IDontHateOnCars The zr1's struggle to get over 200, when the speed is PROPERLY measured it has a hard time reaching 201 mph, not because of a limiter either, I don't care what Jay Leno says, it's mostly about drag. I hope you realise that every motor is a little different, and every location of every dyno is different (humidity, air temp etc.) so the zr1 dynos anywhere between 530 and 570 depending on the conditions.

I will believe Hennessy with there 530 rwhp.They also said after 1500 miles they will gain 15 hp so the stock ZR1 is putting down no more than 550 bone stock. The ZR750 hp package only puts down 648 rwhp. They are smart enough guys and what they are doing ,I'm sure they pick the right time to dyno cars. I will say this once again the ZR1 is not drag limited at it's top speed which is verified 204.2 It's computer limited.

Limiter or not, it takes a zr1 a LONG time, even for 4 more mph.

@13tomabram First of all, muscle mustangs & fast fords got a stock 2011 gt500 to go 12.02 @ 118.7 mph. Some of those numbers you gave, mid 12's etc., were obviously with average drivers and maybe semi-warm tries at best. Make no mistake, the GT500's WILL beat the caddys with a driver who actually heats the tires properly before a pass and doesn't spin them for 100 feet. Don't always trust ONE single test/race to tell you everything. I've seen higher skid pad ratings than .89 from the gt500s too.

@marcomariaz26 you cant compare horsepower by the torque you noob. Design of the motor and the specs used for cams, pistons, crank, etc. are different for ever engine so therefore the power and the comparison of hp to lb/ft is different for every engine.

@000JERRY0000 What you have to remember stock to stock its very fare and can be fare along time but when you start getting crazy with the two going all out for horsepower the ls3 will make more just because of its size and because its an LS. Do you happen to know what ford uses for the 5.0 block ,aluminum , im sure its not cast iron, or what else?
@000JERRY0000 Yeah if it was overhead valve (16) and 1 cam it wouln't be close to 412 horses which isn't more than the ls3 but is a lie anyway. Chevrolet had the LT5 which was a 5.7l DOHC 32 valve and made 375 horsepower. There single cam 16 ohv 5.7 only made 300. Nelson performance builds dohc small blocks which are in the 300 cube area and they can make 2500 horsepower with twin turbo's . DOHC 32v makes up for it size,Still the 5 liter does not have a torque curve like an ls3.

Chevrolet does there thing single cam and 16 ohv 's. Big difference in engineering, totaly different ways to make power. The camaro has been around since 08, ford came after the camaro that was already out for a while with the new 5 liter. They did great job, but the camaro was old news.

The cobra dyno's 610 horse / the corvette dyno's 440 stock thats 170 horse to the pavement advantage. 170 wheel horsepower will beat 500 pounds any day in a straight line. Still the cobra does not do 198 miles an hour, and like ahovoraka10 said its obvious what the better car is , if your not mentally delayed. I bet the corvette still has a better 0-60, for sure pulls more g's and gets better fuel economy.The cobra is a great car for what it is, people get to cocky with its capabilities.
i love them both but anyone who is actually a car enthusiast will admit the z06 is a better machine, its lighter naturally aspirated and is a great handling automobile dont get me wrong the cobra is great as well but its cheaper and uses forced induction and is heavier. put 1/3 of the wrench time in the vette that you would cobra and this is no contest. no one on earth can disagree with that.

@SirKowalski666 Arguing over which cars are better is just stupid, almost all cars use the same basic technology, its a matter of compression ration, valve timing, port volume, displacement, the way I see it the Ford has an advantage with 32V DOHC heads AND a supercharger Vs. 16V OHV heads in the vette, the only advantage the vette has is displacement. BAnks engineering: 15psi of boost doubles the displacement of an engine...Do the math.

However the C6 ZR1 is computer not drag limited at 205. Jay Leno the owner of the #1 ZR1, stated it would do more than 210 mph with out the limiter. Let me correct you with the ZR1 dyno's 530 rwhp not well over 550,Hennessy proved that. The lilimter is why it doesn't push much after 200.

@IDontHateOnCars The zr1's struggle to get over 200, when the speed is PROPERLY measured it has a hard time reaching 201 mph, not because of a limiter either, I don't care what Jay Leno says, it's mostly about drag. I hope you realise that every motor is a little different, and every location of every dyno is different (humidity, air temp etc.) so the zr1 dynos anywhere between 530 and 570 depending on the conditions.

I will believe Hennessy with there 530 rwhp.They also said after 1500 miles they will gain 15 hp so the stock ZR1 is putting down no more than 550 bone stock. The ZR750 hp package only puts down 648 rwhp. They are smart enough guys and what they are doing ,I'm sure they pick the right time to dyno cars. I will say this once again the ZR1 is not drag limited at it's top speed which is verified 204.2 It's computer limited.

@IDontHateOnCars It's not about "the right time" to dyno, it's about the climate more than anything (expect of course the type of dyno - they're known to vary ALOT) I've seen stock zr1's put down over 550, but see, that was up north near chicago if I recall correctly, much more dense, cold air, makes for alot more horsepower and torque, and aside from that, how many miles you you suppose it took a zr1 to get from 200 to 204.2 mph? Limiter or not, it takes a zr1 a LONG time, even for 4 more mph.

@13tomabram First of all, muscle mustangs & fast fords got a stock 2011 gt500 to go 12.02 @ 118.7 mph. Some of those numbers you gave, mid 12's etc., were obviously with average drivers and maybe semi-warm tries at best. Make no mistake, the GT500's WILL beat the caddys with a driver who actually heats the tires properly before a pass and doesn't spin them for 100 feet. Don't always trust ONE single test/race to tell you everything. I've seen higher skid pad ratings than .89 from the gt500s too.

@13tomabram Dude, it was a stock gt500 with two cameras attatched. Even with that 12.5 second pass, it had a higher trap speed than the much larger displacement caddy. Do you understand what i'm saying? That drag race was won at the start of the race when the stang spun for almost exactly half a second, seeing as with a proper burnout and some throttle control it goes 12 flat. Forget the gt500 though, the 40k boss 302's without the track key will outrun audi r8's by 1/2 second and m3's by over 2

@000JERRY0000 Yeah if it was overhead valve (16) and 1 cam it wouln't be close to 412 horses which isn't more than the ls3 but is a lie anyway. Chevrolet had the LT5 which was a 5.7l DOHC 32 valve and made 375 horsepower. There single cam 16 ohv 5.7 only made 300. Nelson performance builds dohc small blocks which are in the 300 cube area and they can make 2500 horsepower with twin turbo's . DOHC 32v makes up for it size,Still the 5 liter does not have a torque curve like an ls3.

@000JERRY0000 The ls3 engine has been around for 4 years or more and the 5.0 has been around not even two yet. Ford does there thing dohc 32 valve, very much which makes up for its displacement . Chevrolet does there thing single cam and 16 ohv 's. Big difference in engineering, totaly different ways to make power. The camaro has been around since 08, ford came after the camaro that was already out for a while with the new 5 liter. They did great job, but the camaro was old news.

The cobra dyno's 610 horse / the corvette dyno's 440 stock thats 170 horse to the pavement advantage. 170 wheel horsepower will beat 500 pounds any day in a straight line. Still the cobra does not do 198 miles an hour, and like ahovoraka10 said its obvious what the better car is , if your not mentally delayed. I bet the corvette still has a better 0-60, for sure pulls more g's and gets better fuel economy.The cobra is a great car for what it is, people get to cocky with its capabilities.
