@karl100589 He used drugs and was very arrogant when he cycled -- don't buy the media bullshit who wants to make him a hero -- 'cause he's not.
French gvt wants to make him a national level, but Fignon couldn't stand reporters making him remarks and couldn't stay on a team without fighting!
It's suddenly when he was on the edge of diying that he realizes all he needed to know and be -- bullshit! Be a good person when you live, not when you gonna die.
@MacYavel83 Because french gvt wants to make him into a hero just because he died of cancer -- it's bullshit -- I could die f cancer tomorrow and spend my life defending an association, nobody'd give a fuck about me.
And he was arrogant, especially during his rivalry with Benard Hinault -- and with Lemond.
Eveyrtime we'd ask him why the race didn't go well, he'd tell the reporters to fuck off.
@MacYavel83 He doesn't like reporters but he could be at least POLITE -- yes, I said fuck him 'cause he never gave a fuck about his team only when'd won
go on INA and you'll see a tons of interviews where he stalks off in the middle of them
In fact I'm gonna send them to you
in France the gvt simply wants to make a big fuss about Fignon -- that he's a role model, a warrior...
And your argument just because he was on rugs and everybody is too is a shame
@MacYavel83 In 1984 Fignon was being interviewed on the tour de france stage with Jeanie Longo -- and he told her he didn't like woman cycling 'caue it's not esthetic -- what do you say to that? And then you people write RIP just 'cause he died and the media kisses his ass
It takes 2 men to make a race congrats to Lemond but never forget the part Fignon played in the greatest drama the tour has seen. Thanks you both for the memories it was a privilege to have watched it live.
@MacYavel83 Thank you so much for you up-minded thoughts, I would of never figured it out myself (ironic)
But Fignon admitted he cheated and we all knew since he was bald at 20 -- the worst is he was a commentator for french television!!! How hypocrite is that?!
I love Tour de France -- I watch it every year -- but I gotta remind some facts
For English speakers this is by far the best commentary on this stage. "The clock is counting down... so are the meters to the line...". The excitement in Phil and Paul's voices as the spectacle unfolds makes this very special. Why did Phil redo this with an utterly lacklustre version for the 89 TDF DVD?
Also I think the editing when Phil prematurely announces Lemond's win is a bit screwy. In other versions (and my memory) Lemond didn't start celebrating until after Fignon crossed the line.
ah it's up again... no this is the way it happened, you can hear Phil say "(unintelligible) ... 27:47, the excitement is overcoming even me now" while LeMond celebrates and then looks a bit puzzled.
... could be the titanic mess-up I mentioned above. They are airbrushing it out of commentary history. Perhaps I should have kept quiet and enjoyed it for myself. ;-)
Great stuff, but Phil Liggett should be shot for the greatest commentary mistake of all-time! 3.06-3.12 Phil Liggett announces Fignon losing the tour a minute too early. Lemond, who is surely listening to Liggett, starts celebrating, so we all think it's over, and this removes so much of the drama a minute later when Fignon really loses it!
esto si es una carrera ctm!

@Lundahlium so he didn't like reporters... big deal... this is not what "arrogant" means
I watched the races when I was a kid ; and you may have seen something I did not see that make you call him arrogant. Give me an example.
And he's not responsible for what you say the government is trying to do with him (btw, what are you talking about ?)
And he does not deserve to be treated like you did (quote "fuck him, etc.) just because he was on drugs. Everybody was - and still is.

so what? lets let everybody take drugs?
Lundahlium 1 year ago
@MacYavel83 he wasn't a nice guy believe me -- and suddenly he's looking for some pity and recognition because he admitted taking drugs
he should of thought of that before taking them
and the result is when he didn't took any, he'd lose.
I don't like those people who all of a sudden he's dead, post their comments RIP when they didn't give a shit about him when he'd stopped;
I'm french and was a big fan of hinault because he was nice and took his loses like a man

Fignon was taking drugs anyway, so fuck him
Lundahlium 1 year ago
@Lundahlium everybody was, and everybody still is, and i'm not just talking about cycling.
And I don't care. I still love the Tour de France because it's made of beautiful stories of blood, tears, and humanity.
By the way, even without drugs, any pro cyclist would kick your ass on a race. They're good at it, that's why they're pros.

@Lundahlium then I don't understand why you insult him - and not the others.
At least, HE admitted it, which makes him a better person than the others.
