Dammm it, i finished the battery pack mod 2 weeks ago and made video but never got the chance to post it....:(. You beat me to it.... Lol. Goood job retro
have you though instead of basically using the Shell of the pack, just replacing the cells? i know ive seen people replace the cells in laptop battery's, i would think it would just be more of the same, order the same, or near the same cells and just solder them back in. thats provided you didn't fry the charging circuit. but that at least would provide a more OEM feel.
What a great project, I own a sega nomad and would love to be able to do the screen and battery mod, Your very skilled and talented at what you do, i look forward to part two. Cheers.
Pretty awesome, if you succeed in doing that mod, one of these days I'm gonna ask you to make me one like that, NOMAD + New LCD + LI-On battery pack... how much would it cost total?
what do you do for a living? you must be rich to afford all this stuff ... also, how many times you been scammed on ebay? you buy from ebay like theres no tommorow :p
Well its for the best as new battery cells are much better compared to ones from the 90s. You'll want a good charge with the Nomads notorious power consumption needs anyway but I guess the new screen doesn't use as much. Yeah I'd imagine the old cell would add a fair amount of weight to the Nomad? I can't see why it wouldn't work. Look forward to your Nomad Version 2.5.
I have the battery pack casing (I gutted it cos it was dead). I know I binned the circuit, LED & jack though. I'll watch with interest to see if can still do the mod somehow :)
That is a great idea for a mod. I guess you will have to change the guts entirely as youre going with Li-ion instead of the old NiMH batteries. At least thats what I assume the old batteries were.
My mod is original full battery 2100mah replacement stay tuned.... Hehe

Great idea. I wonder what kind of battery life you get from a Li-ion battery.
