Arj Barker has an incredible sense of humour. It's not the typical dumb, guy falls down, dick fart joke, obvious American humour seen from alot of american comedians. Arj is subtle without being dull.

As if he's not. I haven't seen he's type of humour in American comedians before. I like Dane Cook but he's nowhere near Arj's level. Arj uses that type of comedy typically seen in the english, picking out an everyday situation and flipping it to seem ridiculous. Also I've never seen such great use of semantics is uncommon amongst american comdedians (when he uses the literal meaning of "walking shoes").

Arj usually appeals to the overseas crowd really well. (By overseas, I mean not USA) He's huge in Australia. But, it's not because of his sense of humor. There are hundreds of comedians with unbelievable writing ability. If anything, I find Arj a little "obvious" as compared to other comics.

But really, you shouldn't make such a judgment. My guess is you haven't seen much American comics. There is such a variety here. Check out Louis CK, Doug Stanhope, Carlin, Bill Burr, Chappelle

I love chappelle. And i do love American comedy, i just like arj's style in particular. Katt Williams, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Dane Cook, Russel Peters (Canadian), I do love American comedy, but i like Arj's style in particular. Thats just a personal opinion.

I'm not saying anything bad about Arj though. He's definitely one of the best out. He finds such terrific premises.

But, he tells a lot of jokes. There are better comedians out there who actually have a "voice" in their act. A point of view.(Trust me, that's MUCH more difficult because it has to be YOU that is funny, not your material.) And that's why you get the extra "delivery" with American comics. Most of the act is their point of view. American comedy has far surpassed joke telling.

If you've ever seen Dimitri Martin, he's a joke teller. He's hilarious and he's material revolves around telling one liners one after the other. Comics don't have to have a continuous flow to be funny, especially in short standup gigs. But I completely see where your coming from. Arj is a bit more of a joke teller than a story teller.
