i wonder why people start discussing about what is better, lfs or iracing. but as this has started already ill join in: iracing has the WAY BETTER physics! you are not allowed to mix up the crash physics and race physics in a game. both games are supposed to be a RACE simulator, not a wreck simulator. its not only the physics in iracing that make it the best !RACING SIM! ever, its also the graphics and the updates which come every week. and with new cars/tracks coming again, its always excitin
I agree with you, the tire model for LFS just wasn't up to the F1. And as it has been said many times, not having a real track really hurt LFS. iRacing just keeps getting better and better IMHO, Ausy V8's... F1 ect ect.. can't wait for more
yeah! LFS has better physics than iRacing IMO, but iRacing has the better package, if LFS had real tracks and/or cars it'd be the best sim ever! I just wish LFS had the Nordschleife and a real street car such as the NSX or an old Ferrari, it'd be amazing! by the way, do you race in iRacing? what's it like? does it have pick up races or just leagues?
I think it is iRacing's lazered tracks that really push the game over the top as the best sim out. You really dont have to run in the leagues when racing, you can just do it as much as you like. It is good though, every race means something so everyone tries and I see very few incidents. Turn 1 is almost always clean.
yes, the tracks and graphics in general are great in iRacing, it's hard to believe it is so light on the equipment, I have a 4 year old pc and am able to run it smoothly, I love the latest Simbin games such as GTR Evolution, they're a lot of fun, I just wish they weren't so demanding on the pc, I guess they're on the market in order to force people to buy graphic cards and other parts, it's a shame really cuz despite them not being physically very accurate they're a lotta fun
Not really, it is easy to got a clean race if you aren't pushing too hard I find. It is graduated, so you start in rookie and move up from class c to class a then pro. It does take a little while, but it is similar to the real world. I love it, means you will be racing the same caliber every time you go out.
it is very interesting but in this case does the safety rating have anything to do with your perfomance in the races or do you get higher just by 'keeping it safe' and finishing last?
You gain safety rating by driving clean, so I guess it is possible to have a very good safety rating and be very slow. But I never really see that. Everyone comes to race, but it forces them to race WAY more clean than in any other online sim I have raced in. (especially LFS) The guys who have the 'Pro' safety rating are always the fastest, they have really put the time in and have the experience.
that's what I thought, it's very cool this way, just out of curiosity, have you ever played GPL? if so, what is your GPL Rank and what is your class in iRacing? My GPL Rank is -23 or something, I'm curious because I want to know how I'd do in iRacing by comparing myself to you
I have actually never played GPL. If you have played GPL and LFS and others, you will have no problems being fast in iRacing. For most people it is their 1st sim. In my opinion it is worth every penny of the monthly charge.
If you can figure out a way to do that, you've invented artificial gravity machine. I'd suggest you to patent it very quickly..
Of course, you can simulate it by rotation / movement of the cockpit, but only to a point in practice. By simply tilting the cockpit you can give a feeling of slight (less than 1 G) acceleration or deacceleration.
ive driven the toyota simulator its awesome. but at mercedes world brooklands in the uk. i drove there mercedes van simulator with working copit like speedo and rev metre
"However good this simulator is, its not quite like the real thing". He drives and speaks with no tension in his voice - look what happens to an F1 drivers head when they take a lap at the real Silverstone, its a dead giveaway.
Have to say though, love the naive comments about being 'powered by rFactor' (incorrect) and 'set up to give realistic feedback to the driver' ;) That is what a 'simulator' is supposed to do! I'm utliizing better, faster actuation and feedback as well as full stereoscopy, proffesional instruments and driving controls and a separate data aquisition computer. It is more realistic than this.
this is so much shittter than driving the real car mentioned. id have loved to know what blundell thought of it. weird though. some people think they can be racing driver because they drive fast on a game but problem is blundell is a real racer. its all the wrong way round!
The Williams Simulator is just F1 Challenge with a fancy cockpit and telemtry? Seems a bit overated, or maybe the 40 dollar piece of sofrware is underated. ;)
Yes they are 2 separate people. To make matters more confusing they were actually team mates for Brabham and when they were together they were collectively nicknamed "Brundell" ;)
Wow, Mr, Brundle has sure changed over the last few years hasn't he.

u mean to say that iRacing and Williams are actually teaming up? will there be a Williams f1 car in iRacing anytime soon?
rafa281 2 years ago
Yes! Williams and iRacing will be working together to add an F1 car into iRacing. It will be very exciting. Time to get the safety rating up!
Ghostca 2 years ago
Thats awesome! I just hope their F1 in iRacing will be better than the BMW one in LFS, that one is good but I think it could be better.

G force simulation is very expensive and needs a very big space to work. Indeed, Look to mine F1 simulator video. Leave a comment.
