Yes, it can damage the brake hose if youre not very careful, however, for many years, there were no other alternatives. If you clamp down really hard on the hose, it can do internal damage. Likewise, if the hose is obviously in bad shape. Then its best to simply replace at the time of line replacement. The hose would have to be in a condition that warrants replacement already in order for the clamping to turn it into a check valve by holding it shut.
There are clamps made specifically for brake hoses now, and while they claim to be safer , they are generally no different then if you clamp lightly with a pair of vise grips. It does make some people feel better to see an actual brake hose clamp being used though.
have never seen the gravity bleed method. I wouldnt think the fluid would get past the master without pedal pressure. assumed when your foot was off the brake theres no way any fluid could get thru -- or else your brakes would be on going down the road. great video tho
HEY DAVE CAN YOU HELP ME OUT WITH SOMETHING IF MY REAR BRAKE LINES PIERCE CAN I WELD THE FITTING AT THE MASTER CYLINDER TO CASNCEL OUT THAT BRAKE plz help me
Great videos! great product! I replaced all my 96 ford explorer rusty brake lines after one leaked. Took 7 sections of your product, avg $5 each. Advance auto had the polyarmour product. Saved me a fortune..I am looking at some estimates I got close to $1000 and they were for regular steel lines. Your product is nicely priced too and less than some non coated lines! I have great piece of mind now with all new lines with corrosion inhibitor.Ended up returning the tube bender, didn't need it!!!
this is one of the most informative videos ive ever seen, thanks a lot man, im going to be replacing all the hardlines in my truck, this was really useful
Thanks for the positive feedback on our brakeline replacement video. We also have videos on the different types of flares, as well as on our premium Poly-Armour replacement lines. Thanks again!
Vice gripping the hose damages it internally, often making it a one way check valve(holds the brakes on). Not advisable.
