Wow! you seem like a true Punisher fan. I admit Punisher is purely violence and gore and should have been handled with care and a higher budget. Using Vancouver all the time to be US look like is getting old, although I am from the later. I honestly would like to enjoy a Punisher movie with the intensity of war zone and made with utmost care.
This character is my favorite i have the original issues from marvel previews i have the entire max series and 40 issues of the first series written by mike baron but out of all theese comic movies this one tops them all with trueness to its origins. shows his origin but not to long just a flash back like in most issues and even in his first issues bloody and action packed .Great movie for all the guys in the military who love this guy and for all the action fans! Make a sequel Stevenson!
Sadly, the 2004 movie WAS a terrible Punisher movie ! Punisher equals action and the remake with Tom Jane didn't deliver that. It gave us a wrong origin that became the whole story. It could've been two hours of explosive action scenes, but all us Punisher fans got was something out of an early 70s western ! What was up with all of the ssslllooow...ness ?? War Zone, on the other hand, finally gave us the Frank Castle we've been waiting for. He's a "less talk, more action" kind of guy, after all.

I think telling people the movie is good because it is like the comics isn't a good argument. The movie is good because it's hilarious and violent and stupid, which is something that Michael Bay thinks he's good at but isn't. I had more fun watching Punisher War Zone than I did watching The Dark Knight, and I love Batman more than any other character, but PWZ was just totally different in a good way.
Its because of Punisher War Zone that makes me rekindle my love with the Punisher. People who says this Film Sucks Ass should go and read more Punisher MAX comics. The violence, gore and the killings are almost as violent as the comics.. Simply awesome right from the start. Budiansky, Soap, Jigsaw are all from the MAX comics..
Personally, I like all three Punisher movies. I know he keeps saying the 2004 movie was terrible, but if it wasn't for the amount it made in rentals and sales, this movie wouldn't had been made. So you have to give it some credit. Plus I'm pretty sure Gale Anne Hurd did work on the 2004 one and the Terminator movies, so she can't be all bad.

War Zone was a B movie to me. Absolutely ridiculous. That Jigsaw brother was nothing but a fat idiot bald midget, and punisher a complete showoff. His knives chop heads, his punches destroy skulls, and god i hate so much that first scene where he hangs shooting in every direction: they confused Frank Castle with Antonio Banderas in a Tarantino movie.

Keep in mind that 2004's The Punisher was based on Garth Ennis' "Welcome Back Frank Castle" comic books released in the early 2000's. The film was faithful to that particular volume in that regard. But that is an aquired taste, and i personally like the 2008 one better.

Hollywood and Marvel have had a stab at the three Punisher films but each has been slightly better than the last and each have failed. I don't see what was so wrong with the 2004 Punisher. Yes, it was a bit campy and it was more of a "revenge" storyline rather than the entire Punisher theme. But still... I liked it. The 2004 movie had believable dialogue, whereas War Zone's dialogue was lacking. However, War Zone had amazingly over-the-top action and was closer to the comic book. A combination of the two movies would be the best Punisher film of all time.
Not good but a step forward for Punisher movies. Story arranged not well arranged and the villians were too comedic. However, I must say Ray Stevenson fulfills the character and image of Frank Castle better than Dolph Lundgrin or Thomas Jane. Dolph did ok. Jane was a f*ckin disaster. Jane couldn't even get close. Ray Stevenson reigns as the official real life Punisher. In certain parts of the movie you'd swear you were looking in the comic when the camera focuses on Stevenson.

This movie was amazing! Thomas Jane did play a good role in the 2004 movie but it wasnt the punisher I have grown to admire from the comic books. There was nothing wrong with this movie; she obviously didn't have time to put her crappy two cents into the project, infact it's the best punisher to date, not one boring moment in the movie; the only way this new punisher will get butchered is if they make a sequal; it ended with Stevenson continueing to do what he does best, we don't need another one A few more games will do just fine just no more movies.

As far as the soundtrack goes the punisher is the most metal comic character ever, of course the soundtrack is going to have metal( even though they chose to use the more popular metal than the kind that would actually fit the character)
As far as I'm concerned a lot of movies use metal in their trailers it does not mean anything. Clips released after this was posted confirm that it will have a musical score, and Lexi is still behind this production. I've heard the soundtrack and it's not great but that's no reflection of the film. I've found that the best movies often have the worst soundtracks and vice versa. And 3/4 of the time you won't even hear the majority of the songs from the OST in the movie. I think ur misinformed
I don't know much about the whole Alexander/Hurd dispute, but I do know that I can't stand when movies just use a bunch of metal songs as their soundtrack, instead of using an official score for their movie. I liked the first trailer more than the second tbh.

Neocaleb! This is so true. The last Punisher was a disaster. Jane looked like a male model more than he did an Ex-CTU and SF Commando. Stevenson reminds me of many men I served with in the "field". Gale Ann Hurd has ruined many films and cannot be allowed to ruin this one. The "Punisher" is supposed to be violent; rough; worn out; mean; ruthless; tough and manly...but with some compassion for the weak. The comic was somewhat gorey, more so than the first movie. One time whenever Captain America was recruiting villains to fight for him(Because they needed the help.)The Punisher walked in and seen them and shot one in the head. lmao Needless to say Cap punched him out though.

I don't know why you hated the 2004 Punisher movie so much. It was actually pretty good and Thomas Jane made a great Frank Castle. My main gripe with that movie was the lack of action and him sitting there taking shots while listening to Seether and Amy Lee.

I liked the redband trailer, made me want to see the film...violence, blood and gore...I love it. But then I heard they were gonna edit the film to be pg13, so no more gore. I'm gonna see it regardless, but if its wack, I won't buy the DVD. Its true what Punisher2 said. The movies never follow strictly to the books, but sometimes they turn out to be really good. A good example is The Dark Knight. They're actually in separate universes when you think about it.

Im a punisher fan and despite changing the origin a bit I think Punisher is best played by humanizing him. I liked Thomas Jane's punisher despite the lack of action and the change in origin. You can blame Garth ennis for the 04 version because those neighbors was in the Welcome Back Frank storyline.
My problem with Garth Ennis Punisher even his Max version as entertaining as he is, simply that his version is just a one dimensional sociopath with no real depth who fights a bunch of freaks.

in the 2004 version they got the skull wrong. The teeth were suppose to be magazine pouches (bandoleer) just like in punisher war zone. The punisher war journal issue 3 had a cool effect by having bullets as the teeth
because it is not the Punisher if you don't follow the story to the "T" the Punisher and his family were picnicing in central park. his wife and children were flying a kite and stumbled in on a mob hit. they were gunned downed frank hears the shots and goes to investigate and is shot as well. is it that freaking hard to follow a story that anyone who is a fan of the punisher knows and loves sheeesh.

Sorry for commenting so much, but something just hit me like a cannonball. Just *WHY* does Hurd want this film so destroyed? Is she against Marvel Comics, or does she just want a PG-13 rating?

But on a gun nut note: We see Castle using his M4 Carbine with a Suppressor, yet everyone knows he's there. That's more than just a little stupid. And damn them all for using an M4, silly Hollywood only wants to use automatic arms, not 3-round burst like with an M16.

As for the supressor come on he had to sneak into the mansion didn't he and that means silence. The suppressor also helps when shooting in a confined area.

And the Suppressor? He should've just used a pistol to sneak in. It only helps velocity-wise, and that isn't a good thing having an M4. You've already lost velocity, now it's being worsened. And it diminishes accuracy, something NOT good in confined areas.
Alot of these Marine Recon & special forces guys use this exact weapon for that exact situation (exept they're not fighting mobsters. Sometime you need more fire power than a pistol as well as a suppressor and if your covers blown you don't have to switch weapons.
Well, they are issued .45 Heckler & Koch Mark 23s, which comes with a Suppressor and laser sighting.
And I'm not saying Frank's a Force Recon. But front line Marines are issued M16A4s, I believe. And they execept a suppressor, right? Cover's blown? Yeah, that's why backup's for. Not comic book guys.
I'm just saying, they shouldn't use a suppressor, just because it'd be handy. And Frank carries an M16A2/M203 in the comics.
Frank is Force Recon and they use M4s but it dosen't matter anyway because he's on his own.
my point is it is very effective weapon in that the lack of weight allows him to not only use necessary add ons but to carry extra ammunition and other weapons. The noise of rounds going off in close quarters combat can be jarring.

The Dark Knight trailer was pretty much random clips of violence to and so is pretty much every comic book or action movie. That's what trailers are about it's hard to show some emotional scene in only a minute.
From what I hear this will have a good and dark story as well as action. Because that's what fans of the MAX punisher expect.

You all do know this is just the first set of trailers right? As in thats probably all the action and gory death there is going to be in the entire movie. Most of the movie is actual story line. Of course they gave Daredevil thumbs up, it was a good movie, there was nothing bad about it, just like how there was nothing bad about punisher 2004. Both were solid movies. This on the other hand, with its over-top violence, will fail.
I'm not defending either movie, but the Thomas Jane movie did barely have a budget, supposedly they would've needed about $64 million alone for the stunts, origainally.
So it all comes down to money. No money=not as good as is could be.
It's not the budget that's the problem. It's that it wasn't about the punisher. If he wanted to change so much about this character why did he make a punisher movie to begin with. He should've just made his own character.
The 89 punisher had an even lower bugdet. It wasn't the greatest movie but at least it followed the tone of the character although his origin was a little off.

Yes budget plays a big part but the 1989 version of the punisher had a smaller budget but had more action and was more true to the punisher.
Interest in the Punisher as a comic book character is why PWZ is being made. Not the 2004 movie. If Punisher '04 had been nearly as popular across the board as you suggest it was, we'd be talking about Punisher 3 by now.

Wow! you seem like a true Punisher fan. I admit Punisher is purely violence and gore and should have been handled with care and a higher budget. Using Vancouver all the time to be US look like is getting old, although I am from the later. I honestly would like to enjoy a Punisher movie with the intensity of war zone and made with utmost care.

This character is my favorite i have the original issues from marvel previews i have the entire max series and 40 issues of the first series written by mike baron but out of all theese comic movies this one tops them all with trueness to its origins. shows his origin but not to long just a flash back like in most issues and even in his first issues bloody and action packed .Great movie for all the guys in the military who love this guy and for all the action fans! Make a sequel Stevenson!

Sadly, the 2004 movie WAS a terrible Punisher movie ! Punisher equals action and the remake with Tom Jane didn't deliver that. It gave us a wrong origin that became the whole story. It could've been two hours of explosive action scenes, but all us Punisher fans got was something out of an early 70s western ! What was up with all of the ssslllooow...ness ?? War Zone, on the other hand, finally gave us the Frank Castle we've been waiting for. He's a "less talk, more action" kind of guy, after all.

I think telling people the movie is good because it is like the comics isn't a good argument. The movie is good because it's hilarious and violent and stupid, which is something that Michael Bay thinks he's good at but isn't. I had more fun watching Punisher War Zone than I did watching The Dark Knight, and I love Batman more than any other character, but PWZ was just totally different in a good way.

Personally, I like all three Punisher movies. I know he keeps saying the 2004 movie was terrible, but if it wasn't for the amount it made in rentals and sales, this movie wouldn't had been made. So you have to give it some credit. Plus I'm pretty sure Gale Anne Hurd did work on the 2004 one and the Terminator movies, so she can't be all bad.

War Zone was a B movie to me. Absolutely ridiculous. That Jigsaw brother was nothing but a fat idiot bald midget, and punisher a complete showoff. His knives chop heads, his punches destroy skulls, and god i hate so much that first scene where he hangs shooting in every direction: they confused Frank Castle with Antonio Banderas in a Tarantino movie.
2004 one wasn't a very good movie but a lot better than this crap. I'm even doubting about Dolph Lundgren's one being better tan War Zone!

Keep in mind that 2004's The Punisher was based on Garth Ennis' "Welcome Back Frank Castle" comic books released in the early 2000's. The film was faithful to that particular volume in that regard. But that is an aquired taste, and i personally like the 2008 one better.

Hollywood and Marvel have had a stab at the three Punisher films but each has been slightly better than the last and each have failed. It's a shame.The Punisher is one of the most interesting anti-heros in Marvel and instead have turned in nothing along with DD, Hulk, Ghost Rider, Eleckra, I could go on and on but this is an amazing film.

I don't see what was so wrong with the 2004 Punisher. Yes, it was a bit campy and it was more of a "revenge" storyline rather than the entire Punisher theme. But still... I liked it. Though I've got to say, I liked War Zone much better, much closer to the actual film... but hey, people need to stop being so critic about films. They're films! The 2004 movie had believable dialogue, whereas War Zone's dialogue was lacking. However, War Zone had amazingly over-the-top action and was closer to the comic book. A combination of the two movies would be the best Punisher film of all time.

Not good but a step forward for Punisher movies. Story arranged not well arranged and the villians were too comedic. However, I must say Ray Stevenson fulfills the character and image of Frank Castle better than Dolph Lundgrin or Thomas Jane. Dolph did ok. Jane was a f*ckin disaster. Jane couldn't even get close. Ray Stevenson reigns as the official real life Punisher. In certain parts of the movie you'd swear you were looking in the comic when the camera focuses on Stevenson.

The movie is 1:54 mins long, or about that. and there's no need to do origins. maybe a flashback. And the less talk in this movie, the better.

As far as the soundtrack goes the punisher is the most metal comic character ever, of course the soundtrack is going to have metal( even though they chose to use the more popular metal than the kind that would actually fit the character)

As far as I'm concerned a lot of movies use metal in their trailers it does not mean anything. Clips released after this was posted confirm that it will have a musical score, and Lexi is still behind this production. I've heard the soundtrack and it's not great but that's no reflection of the film. I've found that the best movies often have the worst soundtracks and vice versa. And 3/4 of the time you won't even hear the majority of the songs from the OST in the movie. I think ur misinformed

Neocaleb! This is so true. The last Punisher was a disaster. Jane looked like a male model more than he did an Ex-CTU and SF Commando. Stevenson reminds me of many men I served with in the "field". Gale Ann Hurd has ruined many films and cannot be allowed to ruin this one. The "Punisher" is supposed to be violent; rough; worn out; mean; ruthless; tough and manly...but with some compassion for the weak. The comic was somewhat gorey, more so than the first movie. One time whenever Captain America was recruiting villains to fight for him(Because they needed the help.)The Punisher walked in and seen them and shot one in the head. lmao Needless to say Cap punched him out though.

I liked the redband trailer, made me want to see the film...violence, blood and gore...I love it. But then I heard they were gonna edit the film to be pg13, so no more gore. I'm gonna see it regardless, but if its wack, I won't buy the DVD. But I kind of hope the DVD will have an unrated version with gore and all...these are just hopes, even if its not like the comic, I just wanna see a good action movie

Im a punisher fan and despite changing the origin a bit I think Punisher is best played by humanizing him. I liked Thomas Jane's punisher despite the lack of action and the change in origin. You can blame Garth ennis for the 04 version because those neighbors was in the Welcome Back Frank storyline.
My problem with Garth Ennis Punisher even his Max version as entertaining as he is, simply that his version is just a one dimensional sociopath with no real depth who fights a bunch of freaks.

in the 2004 version they got the skull wrong. The teeth were suppose to be magazine pouches (bandoleer) just like in punisher war zone. The punisher war journal issue 3 had a cool effect by having bullets as the teeth

because it is not the Punisher if you don't follow the story to the "T" the Punisher and his family were picnicing in central park. his wife and children were flying a kite and stumbled in on a mob hit. they were gunned downed frank hears the shots and goes to investigate and is shot as well. is it that freaking hard to follow a story that anyone who is a fan of the punisher knows and loves sheeesh.

Sorry for commenting so much, but something just hit me like a cannonball. Just *WHY* does Hurd want this film so destroyed? Is she against Marvel Comics, or does she just want a PG-13 rating?
I can see a whole Paul W.S. Anderson/Alien vs. Predator thing happening here, she wants it to be less violent for a wider croud. May God have mercy on us all for this woman's crimes.

Oh and one more thing: The 2004 movie had like 17 minutes cut and some violence, and I sense that was Hurd's work too. Oh and I can see what looks like a mental hospital in there, too.
But on a gun nut note: We see Castle using his M4 Carbine with a Suppressor, yet everyone knows he's there. That's more than just a little stupid. And damn them all for using an M4, silly Hollywood only wants to use automatic arms, not 3-round burst like with an M16.

ONe last thing alot of these rumors are old and most have been proven un true. This movie does have a hard R rating it's official.
As for the supressor come on he had to sneak into the mansion didn't he and that means silence. The suppressor also helps when shooting in a confined area.

Most of these "rumors" came not only from numerous reports surfacing on the internet, but sources directly involved with production as well.
Lexi Alexander did have her involvement with post-production dimished to some compacity, but her major role has SINCE been restored.

And the Suppressor? He should've just used a pistol to sneak in. It only helps velocity-wise, and that isn't a good thing having an M4. You've already lost velocity, now it's being worsened. And it diminishes accuracy, something NOT good in confined areas.

Alot of these Marine Recon & special forces guys use this exact weapon for that exact situation (exept they're not fighting mobsters. Sometime you need more fire power than a pistol as well as a suppressor and if your covers blown you don't have to switch weapons.

Well, they are issued .45 Heckler & Koch Mark 23s, which comes with a Suppressor and laser sighting.
And I'm not saying Frank's a Force Recon. But front line Marines are issued M16A4s, I believe. And they execept a suppressor, right? Cover's blown? Yeah, that's why backup's for. Not comic book guys.
I'm just saying, they shouldn't use a suppressor, just because it'd be handy. And Frank carries an M16A2/M203 in the comics.

Frank is Force Recon and they use M4s but it dosen't matter anyway because he's on his own.
my point is it is very effective weapon in that the lack of weight allows him to not only use necessary add ons but to carry extra ammunition and other weapons. The noise of rounds going off in close quarters combat can be jarring.

I suppose it comes down to me, I'm a big guy and an M16 feels light to me, and ammunition isn't that much weight to me. And my hearing's been dulled out over a time, so I guess my retorts are from my biased beliefs.
I understand what you mean by the M4, though. But I still think it's Hollywood wanting to preserve the image of an automatic weapon.

It's stated in alot of different punisher comics but off the top of my head you can find it in (Punisher Valley Forge, Punisher Born,The Tiger and a few older comics I can't think of off the top of my head.

Call me what you want, but I think this'll be a bad movie. And I like the Thomas Jane movie.
I'm only speculating, so I could be wrong.
Basically, all we've seen is jumping-the-shark violence, a Jigsaw who looks like Liberace with food on his face, and a lack of story.
I could be wrong. But it seems, even if there is a story, all they're doing is selling off blood and gore. It looks far too much like the MAX comics, in my opinion. Show some origiality.

The reason it look so much like the MAX comic is becauase that's what they're basing this movie on. It's an extremely violent yet very well written series.
I do expect this to have a good stoy though, of course they are gonna show the most violent seens in the trailer. It's hard to show the story in a 1 minute trailer.

I just think basing your work soley on the MAX comics just shows a lack of dedication to making a movie, and not just a live-action comic book.
I don't expect it to have much of a story. They're only showing off random clips and dialouge. That's my biased opinion, but if they had anything else, they would have showed it.
Oh, and I don't think the MAX comics are that violent. But that's just my thought.

The Dark Knight trailer was pretty much random clips of violence to and so is pretty much every comic book or action movie. That's what trailers are about it's hard to show some emotional scene in only a minute.
From what I hear this will have a good and dark story as well as action. Because that's what fans of the MAX punisher expect.
And I don't know what MAX comics your thinking of because they are very violent.

Like I said to someone else, The Dark Knight showed that the Joker was making Hell, and that Batman would have to change his ways to beat him.
I don't hear much, but from what I see, I don't see much story. That's my problem. I'm not saying it's not got action. But some of the action looks bad. I'm a fan of the Punisher, but I don't expect much.
I guess it may be violent to some, but not me. It's my opinion. But then again, I'm a Tarantino fan. Not my type of violence.

You all do know this is just the first set of trailers right? As in thats probably all the action and gory death there is going to be in the entire movie. Most of the movie is actual story line. Most people thought the verison with Thomas Jane was going to suck, because they liked the one with Dolph Lungren in it. So, either give it a fair chance, or dont speak like you have.

He's a marine nam vet not an FBI agent.
He's born and raised in NY not Florida.

So it all comes down to money. No money=not as good as is could be.

It's not the budget that's the problem. It's that it wasn't about the punisher. If he wanted to change so much about this character why did he make a punisher movie to begin with. He should've just made his own character.
The 89 punisher had an even lower bugdet. It wasn't the greatest movie but at least it followed the tone of the character although his origin was a little off.

Interest in the Punisher as a comic book character is why PWZ is being made. Not the 2004 movie. If Punisher '04 had been nearly as popular across the board as you suggest it was, we'd be talking about Punisher 3 by now.
You're also wrong about most audiences liking Punisher 2004 and disliking RAMBO. It was the other way around. Check professional and fan reviews.
