I just saw the movie and right after I went to watch your review.its great as always but you say there will be spoilers but not from other movies, they were mild but still...

I really liked the movie, especially before the twist. When I realized were the ending was going, wich after half of the movie becomes really predictable, it was a real letdown cuz its always the same goddamn twist. But the final dicaprio line made me forgive the predictable ending

Ted Levine was very underused in this film, plus you can figure out the ending halfway through. I felt it was a mediocre effort.

Shutter Island reminds me so much of Memento regarding the plot twist at the end, so I was quite disappointed because Memento is from 2000 and as you say, The Sixth Sense from 1999 etc. I thought the book actually was from the 50s so back then, the story would have been really original. But it's from 2003....so where has the author been? Or maybe he just doesn't watch movies. ^^

MPC, I think you're asking too much.

Not every movie has to devote itself to the total balance of film making you talk about.

This movie is about placing the audience vicariously in the narrative of an insane person, who seems very sane until the later is reveal.

Leo's character distorting the narrative with his flawed mentality; Very mutlidimenional.

This film takes a story which has been done before, (Don't Look in the Basement) reinvigorating it for a new generation.
