when i first got into the who i didn't listen to post moon stuff just because of the bad reputation of it, but now I think face dances is one of the better who albums. I kinda wish pete had done it as a solo album so that he could sing all his songs
Pete Townshend is probably written more great rock songs than anyone ever. He's just the best. The thing that sets him apart aside from his brilliant guitar work, is that he writes everything. Music, melodies, lyrics...hes amazing.
It's a great song, but it also foreshadowed the incredibly cheesy synth-rock that would become popular later on in the 80's. Well, this and Eminence Front. Don't get me wrong, I love The Who, but it just wasn't the same after Keith Moon died.
Face Dances is a great album, in my opinion. It's a bit of a departure from the preceding Who stuff, but that's why people either love it or hate it. I happen to love it. Thanks for posting this!

I love this song SO MUCH. Don't get mad, but I thing Roger sings it with way more attitude.

He makes a tree glad to grow (want to grow), just so the tree can be an integral-part of producing a guitar.

Pete is one hell of a songwriter, i just hate it when he smashes instruments!!!!

That song kinda saved and otherwise ordinary album; their next, and last as Who, "It's hard" was much better.

One of the few really amazing songs from the 80's portion of The Who. Most of them were pretty substandard.

That's probably because it's from the 80's. Pete Townshend of The Who, wrote this in 1981.

this song is so cute, and has such an 80's feeling
