ive watched a number of your vids and they are impressive, im not going to bad mouth you off but at close range why dont you take the head shot instead ? that way the animal is down and dead instantly, great watching vids. ATB john uk
@bigjohntightlips I can answer that one lol....I thought the same thing and had those crosshairs buried between the eyes on that "first attempt" when I found out the safety was never taken off. The dog had been standing there for so long by the time I was squeezing off the shot for real, I just lined it up for the double lung for a quicker shot. 100 things go through your head in those two seconds and you work weeks months or years for the opportunity, I'd like to redo them all!
All these hater would be begging us to take care of the coyotes if their precious little dogs and cats where being constantly eaten. That happens a lot here. And no, coyotes will never be hunted to extinction. Too many.
You guys should go to fucking hell killing animals thinking your all good when you look like a couple of gay red necks that fuck each other to stay warm at night in your log houses in the woods! You are all fucked up in the head to kill a animal like this! How would you like it if I came over and shot your mom or your dad? Then how would you feel? Bitch you better watch your back becaause one of my bullet may go in it.
@DirtySkateRats You're an idiot... overpopulation of these animals will eventually cause other species to go extinct.. I'd shoot 100 coyotes a day if i could... Maybe you should dress up like one and go mix yourself into a coyote pack so someone can hunt you... you'd be doing all of us reasonable level headed people a favor.
You should also watch how you speak to others.. you've incriminated yourself with a threat to someones life...you should go to jail you dumb ass nigger
@DirtySkateRats After reading this comment, I seriously have to wonder who is the "sick" one. All you animal lovers seem to have a warped sense of Nature...no animals get killed by other animals...and if they do, it is a nice, clean, pleasant experience for the prey, who understands that he is dying so others may live. There is nothing but peace and harmony within the animal kingdom. Now...go watch a video of a lion pride taking down a baby gazelle.
Hey DownWindOutdoors, i live in TN i was wondering what kind of gun you would recommend. Most of my property is woods, but we have two fields and we have goats, chickens and horses. Our chicken numbers have been dwindling down, and we are worried about the goats. We have many coyotes and I am wondering what caliber rifle, and other equipment I will need to successfully cull the numbers.
@oscar12690 although we do not eat coyotes, we do fetch about $20 per pelt. Admittedly so, that is not our primary motivation. Coyote populations are out of control in our area and its affecting a lot of the other game. Deer and rabbit numbers are dangerously low as a result. Rabbits! The expression should be "multiply like coyotes!" Turkeys are impacted but still healthy.
@DownWindOutdoors well good point, but you can domesticate coyotes, couse they are wild dogs actually im interesed to get one coyote, you can get a good hybrid if you cross the coyote with a german shepard or a belgium shepard. And rabbits, squirrels, hares will ever be pest they are a problem to our garden and corn field :L
@oscar12690 the damage that hits home the hardest is the loss of livestock. This is the third summer in a row with a least two confirmed calf kills. Let alone unconfirmed/missing. So, if we can help to control this problem and experience the most thrilling exciting adrenaline pumping hunt in the sport, it's obvious why it has become so popular in recent years
@DownWindOutdoors well than if you have cattle is logic that coyotes are problem, specially with calves. But is no good driving coyote hunting to danger of extinction, you can raise coyotes like domestic dogs and breed coydogs too.
@oscar12690 coyotes are overpopulated. There is no such thing as driving them to extinction because if threatened they will instinctly have more pups in their litter and have multiple rounds of breeding. You can really only hope to contain their numbers.
I apologize if this happens to come off rude, but I think that you are missing the point in oscar's post. It is the your approach to the problem of losing livestock that I am sure the poster is ultimately disagreeing with here, rather than the act of killing/protecting, however it should be termed.
There are surely more cost and time effective ways of preventing your livestock from being in danger to these predators. It is how you readily accept that doing things this way justifies what you are doing. But you must have your reasons too, and they don't necessarily have to be exactly logical or the best way but it is the whole 'sport' approach to what your doing which makes it seem more cruel than it might be.
@DownWindOutdoors In away this in some form or level is a part of the culture. I'm not going to ask you to defend it on that level but at the base of it all, it seems more as something done in sport, rather than for the safety of your livestock. These types of canines, have been introduced in other countries as natural measures against what oscar had listed as other farming pests, so I am sorry if I fail to see why it is exactly necessary to kill them.
Most canines like these coyotes are territorial, even if you kill them another coyote will eventually take over the left over territory. I feel like much of the justifications, generalizations and assessments that hunters use to defend this 'practice' lacks research but that is just my opinion... perhaps you could prove me wrong, or even enlighten me about why there are no other alternatives to hunting, in order to protect your livestock.
@oscar12690 Coyotes eat small dogs cats. I know we lost a few good cats. I know a lady that watch her small dog get taken away screaming. They come in my yard all the time I have a small dog and if it wasnt for my boxer she would of been killed. ummm city people. joke.
thats a good looking coyote... I want to try out coyote hunting, but around here in northern CT they are really important to the ecosystem because not many people hunt their prey. But above any other game I want to hunt turkey.
@KR1M1NAL23 Where there's one, there's probably more so you should always keep calling in an attempt to draw in the other coyotes. Especially when conditions are so perfect and the first dog comes in so quickly, we'll often keep calling and it really has worked numerous times.
That dog looks more like a husky than anything. Coydog maybe. I hot one with my bow during the 2010 deer season. No season or bag limit here in Kentucky. Great shot!
@jackoliver12 Coyotes up here in New York have a high concentration of wolf genes, so sometimes they can look a little different and often bigger too.
What other kind of callers to you use? I hear your callers comment to "challenge" . Sometimes I hear a howl like a real one. What other kinds do you use? And how do you see at night to aim, etc. Thanks for your help. Maybe there is some printed info on this- I really am looking to get into this because these dogs are everywhere down here. You can here em calling all night and they are close!!!! People need help decreasing the numbers and I'd love to learn! Thanks
@MrHardPressed It's a closed reed cottontail rabbit squealer. Believe it or not, that is what a rabbit sounds like when a coyote is ripping it apart!!! The idea is, coyotes in the area will come running in to try and get a piece of this catch.
I found your sight looking up 22-250 and was way impressed with your long distance kill on the head of the one dog. He just rolled back!... Then into more of your great shots!! What type of gun, sight, stock, and bullet. I'm new to hunting and we have alot of coyotes down here in the piedmont of NC. I'm going to go next season.
@MrHardPressed If you expand the description of any video, we try to list all the details for the specific hunt. We all have one thing in common, and that is the Remington 700. But comfort is probably the most important factor when it comes to stocks and scopes. Bell and Carlson to HS Precision, Nikon Monarch to Leupold, its really personal preference. That was a 50gr hornady vmax bullet on this hunt, although usually they do a better job putting the SMACK DOWN! Thanks again for watching
@CountryKyle007 although for this hunt, I believe it was filmed with a more consumer-based Sony CX500V video camera. If you're thinking about getting into it and bringing a camera along, this might be a good choice to get your feet wet
