I recently got a harmonica for christmas and ive watched quite a few vid online which all gave me something good to start but this is the only vid that taught me a technique to get a (relatively :P) consistant single note sound :) thanks
Really excellent video, thanks for the clear step-by-step instructions! I just started trying to play, and I noticed an immediate improvement after watching this.
Thanks so much! I'm a beginner and was wondering for single notes. I did what you said and it works. Not everytime but if i focus enough I can do that:)
thank you so much for you lessons.. I have been trying to figure the harmonica for a months and one liesson from you and I can play pioano man!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!
I'm a multi-musician, and I'm wanting to learn harmonica to add to the instruments I do play, but mainly to add with my guitar and singing. I do a lot of folk. Any pointers?
I am a rank harmonica beginner and I will tell you what, you just taught me how to easily make a lip block single note. You cannot imagine the frustration I have had in learning single notes, blow blow and draw. I have been to many harmonica websites, and no offense to them, but by far you are the best teacher, for me anyway. Thanks so much! Happy harping!
Dude, you're a legend. Been trying to figure out how to play single notes properly, but don't have the strength for a shallow pucker. This really helped a beginner out, thanks a lot!
FINALLY I can get just one note! and something out of the 2! almost quit! now that I got the first step I can move on to the rest, a long way to go, but if you can't make the first step you go nowhere. Thanks, now my lips are not so DUMB!
Smacks head on desk, doh I point it down so my lower lip blocks the notes I am a smart guy i do not why it took me 20 minutes to figure it out, thanks
I have found that hitting single notes clearly is difficult and usually end up splitting holes and distorting my notes.
I've found that sticking the tip of my tongue through my lips to find the correct hole, then puckering my lips around the hole, allows me to hit notes clearly.
Is this a good strategy or am I going to learn the wrong way and screw myself over later on? I have not seen this technique used anywhere else so should I assume its no good?
This is great, I haven't got my harmonica even yet and i feel so much more prepared and better equipped to play it, I didnt expect to find good lessons so easily, you are simple and clear and stay on target with every lesson, and you show every step of the way how you are able to do it. Thank you!
i was so hopless when i got my harmonica i didnt even know which side to blow into. but you have helped soooooooooooooooo much! i cant thank you enough!
is it normal that the 2 draw and 8 and 9 (blow and draw) are harder to play? Because every note I play both blow and draw go perfectly with your technique, but 2, 8,9 just wont go along =p
time to clean it, take it apart and use a tooth brush and rubbing alcohol, scrub it well, taking care not to bend the reeds, then dry it with a paper towel and put it back together! sounds like new
Hi I´m a complete beginner on harmonica. Any advice on how to perfect the 2 hole draw? This is causing problems. Thanks for all of your hard work with these classes - it is very much appreciated. Cheers.!
ive been trying to get this single note thing down but my problem is that i cant get my mouth around one single note using the pucker method my mouth takes up 3 notes. do i need to learn playing with the tongue blocking method?
Props. Just wanted to say that you make it really easy, and you explain things fully. Most other instructional tubes for the harmonica tell you one little detail then they go all crazy with it to show off. Again... props and thanks!
i want to express all the acknowlegments and my gratitude to YouTube and and all that generous people that have gave me so great help in several fields, not only in jazz & blues (my passion). Now I'm going to begin my harmonica learning. Thanks a lot.Psigonzalo@gmail from Bogotá; Colombia.
