  • SHE CAN SING?!?!?!?!? WHOA. was NOT expecting that. That was flawless

  • This woman blew me away! i wasn't expecting this to be that amazing

  • i feel like fantine should be played by an older person, i mean shes supposed to have experienced life

  • @MrDuffmann22 I would say she should be played by a younger actress. It makes it more tragic if she dies before she is old, and I find it more powerful to think think that a young erson could have given up on life so young. Cosette is about 8 I think, so Fantine should not be more than 30.

  • Oh my gosh it's Jan Levenson Gould.

  • Who else can't help themselves crying whenever they hear this song?

  • @wasilaify ME!

  • For a movie actress, I think she did a really good job. Sure, there are some technical stuff you could criticize, but for someone who isn't making a living on Broadway, you've got to give her credit.

  • Holy crap. Isn't she the principal from 17 Again?!

  • @crazymileyfan6 Probably. I think she was also in The Hot Chick (or a similar movie with Rob Schneider) and she's a pretty major character in The Office.

  • too old to be fantine. sorry

  • Please don't cut each line abruptly when you sing. Savor and sustain each note. There are many videos of the legendary Lea Salonga to learn from.

  • Patti Lupone and the love of musical theatre brought me here actually.

  • Polish version with Edyta Krzemień is the best :)

  • don't get me wrong, her voice is beyond FANTASTIC and she is an amazing fantine, but all i see is jan from the office...

  • Love this song. sounds like Suzan Boyle :) She's amazin the person singing this <3 x

  • With a little bit of autotune and looping she could make a good film Fantine.

  • She has incorrect breathing technique. This explains why she her voice lacks power and she has major difficulty sustaining notes (all lines are cut abruptly). She's painful to listen to.

  • Her voice is very pretty and very powerful. One thing I didn't like was her vibrato on the climb in "shame" in the line "as they turn your dreams to shame"

  • I find her vibrato quite annoying.

  • who else is thinking she'd be a good fantine for the film version?! huh? she's got my vote!

  • her voice is perfect for the role of Fantine.

  • Love this musical

  • This lady looks so familiar!

  • its jan o_o

  • whoa who knew jan could sing. guess she left dunder mifflin

  • Holy crap! She's incredible!!

  • This is the ABSOLUTELY painful to watch. Only Daphne Rubin-Vega's Fantine is worse than this. This is very bad singing! I know Fantine is a ravaged woman, but this is just like Fantine's corpse came back to life like a zombie, and her vocal chords are decomposing, but she managed to sing.

  • @AlanNJUSA

It's not the best I've heard, but I like it! She has distinct vibrato, and I like that.

  • Why are people so upset by what brought people here? Who cares if gLee or Susan Boyle brought the person here? The point is that the person is HERE and not only being exposed to a masterpiece but also getting into the wonderful world that is musical theatre. Personally, I feel like the theatre group is just too small - I know of maybe six other people at my school who are into musical theatre. So the fact that pop culture brings them here makes me proud and hope for a larger theatre fanbase.

  • @MissLeannxx - your statement just makes you look like a showtunes snob. Who cares why someone comes to love something as long as they do?

  • Hey, is this a lousy singer from GLEE? NOT!

    GLEE SUCKS

  • That blew me away

  • does anyone no where i can download this version of the song?

  • JAN!!!! FROM THE OFFICE!!! SO AWESOME! Not as good as Ruthie, of course, but still amazing.

  • Oh my God! She plays Jan in the Office! Had no idea she had a voice like this!

  • beautiful rendition...powerful performance....

  • she is a joy to listen too

and maybe mightve changed my life

  • She uses so much vibrato. It's overwhelming.

  • Just wanna say that this video's view count would probably significantly lower if it weren't for the misleading "Lea Michele" title.

  • this woman is too bullish to be fantine, she's meant to be vulnerable in this song.

  • @TheWakamatsuable same with me lol

  • i thought this was lea mitchelle and there is nothing wrong with susan boyle if she makes people happy and encourages them to like musical theater!!!

  • JAN!!!!!!

  • Doesn't look or sound like Lea Michele?

  • @wehoscotty123 its not lea michelle. read the description lol. cuz i htought the saaame thing(:

  • Ruthie Henshall was one of the best Fantine's I've seen. This was pretty good though.

  • I didn't know Melora Hardin was a singer :)

  • Wow. Ms. Hardin does a remarkable job as Fantine! Very impressive.

  • one of my favourite fantines!

  • lea michelle brought me here

  • After discovering Susan Boyle and this wonderful song, a tend to realize this version is the best by far.

  • i love this version!

  • THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!

Sorry, I love Jan. It's not my fault.

  • i think that melora would sing yentl very beautiful!!

that's the part you have to play :P

  • do castle on a cloud this evert

  • i think this is the most beautiful fantine i've ever seen!! with so much emotions!!!

one day i'll be at your concert mmelora hardin.

  • Sorry Jan, stick to the office. terrible

  • this song is incredibly hard. for one thing. you have to move from full chest belt up thtough middle belt. anyone who accomplishes that has good control on thier voice.

    she did a good job

  • just because the song is "incredibly hard" to sing doesn't mean she sounds good singing it.

  • @dirtylos30 Seriously? She's great! If you want to hear terrible, check out Daphne Rubin-Vega from Rent as Fantine. She actually got let go from the revival....ick.

  • OH MY GOD JAN

  • No cabe duda, el mejor instrumento musical son las cuerdas vocales

  • i love jan but i've heard fantine so much better than this

  • haha I think I'd rather see dwight or andy up there singing

  • hahaha you know iiit

  • this is the worst fantine i've ever seen in my life

  • THAT IS JAN FROM OFFICE!

  • SuBo (that's Susan Boyle) sang it bet... JUST KIDDING!!!

This was a good interpretation :-)

  • Whoa, who knew Jan could sing?!

  • It's not Ruthie. Ruthie has a totally different feel to her version. Althouigh I think Ruthie does it better than Melora, I think she does the song justice. I'm surprised and pleased.

  • hm, I'm really impressed

  • That is not Ruthie Henshall. It's Melora Hardin.

  • check out the movie The Rocketeer. Jan from the office performs in it.

  • Woah, secret Jan!

  • HEard her do ON MY OWn,, now this, two completely different songs, two different voices, what talent.......

  • sing it, jan levinson! lol

  • Holy Shit its Jan, and shes very very good.

  • since there are no words yet invented to describe how moving and perfect and beautiful this performance was *sniffles, wipes eyes* i'd like to say how much i love that dress. i want a bunch of dresses like that. to wear everyday. totally serious. *sniffles* god that was beautiful. brava.

  • I had no idea that she was such a good singer! I LOVE LES MISERABLES!!!!!

  • wait a second...that's jan from the office!

  • WHO CARES WHO BROUGHT YOU HERE?

The point is that we are all here enjoying the beaufiful music of Les Miz.

  • Why all the mean spirited comments about someone who has stirred up an interest in a great song?

  • Copy and paste if your love of MUSICAL THEATRE brought you here, and the next person that says Susan Boyle got you to love Les Miserables will be bitch-slapped.

  • copy and paste if culture brought you here

    :D

  • copy and paste if culture brought you here

  • Its two different voices and two different occasions. We don't have to hate Boyle just because she isn't a professional...both of these women have a passion for singing.

Frankly, its just idiots posting comments saying Boyle made them love Les Miserables but whatever. Don't hate HER cause of the idiots, geez.

  • lea michele brought me here.

  • @phoneoperator me tooo

  • @phoneoperator LOL 69 likes (Y)

  • @phoneoperator Give me a break. I love lea, but this musical is a classical and should be looked as so. Les Mis is wonderful, and if you only liked it, I'm not saying you do, because of glee.

    You are missing a lot.

Glee can be amazing if U know how to like it's covers

  • @phoneoperator Give me a break. I love lea, but this musical is a classical and should be looked as so. Les Mis is wonderful, and if you only liked it, I'm not saying you do, because of glee,

You are missing a lot my friend.

  • Copy and paste if your love of MUSICAL THEATRE brought you here, and the next person that says Susan Boyle got you to love Les Miserables will be bitch-slapped.

  • copy and paste if culture brought you here

  • i think its ridiculous that it takes someone doing this song on a reality talent show to have anyone give a damn. Les Mis is an amazing story and and even more amazing musical.

  • Susan Boyle introduced me to this song, and I love seeing all kinds of performances of it.

This is wonderful. Thanks for posting. Orchestra was wonderful, too.

  • Copy and paste if Susan Boyle brought you here

  • Lovely, but... actually, I prefer Susan Boyle's version... she had more heart.

  • Copy and paste if Susan Boyle brought you here!

  • Copy and paste if Susan Boyle brought you here!

  • Susan Boyle brought me here from Michigan, USA. This is...ok but she's singing this WAY too damn loud

  • That's...really ridiculous. She's singing loud so the people in the far back can hear her, and it's a superb way to sing the song...Fantine's full of remorse and sadness, she's about to go be a whore for her daughter for Christ's sake! Lol, it's not supposed to be a whimpy song.

  • OMG, I only know Melora from Quantum Lep...the ABigal Trilogy.

  • Copy and paste if Susan Boyle brought you here!

  • Copy and paste if Susan Boyle brought you here!

  • Susan Boyle brought me here from Manila, Philippines. This is a pretty good performance, too.

  • A kiss to Susan .. She brought alive this song and music.. God bless her. Question who can now judge her performances. Those three! It's insult to the talent, if they judge her any more..

  • Copy and paste if Susan Boyle brought you here!

  • Yeah, Susan Boyle is MUCH better than this.

  • I was at this show......last row with the vino!

  • Copy and paste if Susan Boyle brought you here!

  • Another remarkable performance of a remarkable song.

  • Copy and paste if Susan Boyle brought you here!

  • Copy and paste if Susan Boyle brought you here!

  • Copy and paste if Susan Boyle brought you here!

  • Susan Boyle iprefer

  • Melora Hardin is Jan Levinson from the fucking Office!!!!!

  • yeah, i agree, susan boyle is better. i actually thought it was lip synced when i first saw it, it just sounded professional right at the beginning. yeah, she's better. who is this singing in this one again? lol. =) but we all know susan boyle, don't we? =)

  • This version is ok, but I agree with those who say Susan Boyle sings with greater power and emotion.

  • I agree, this woman is amazing but susan boyles was just awesome because it was an emotional experience. Everyone was laughing and thought she was a joke.

  • Holy freaking crap. I just started crying. And I've been listening to/singing Les Mis for years. Damn my ignorance for not knowing that Melora was such an extraordinary singer.

  • Wonderful voice and great control. She is hot also!!!!

    I still LOVE Susan Boyle!!!!!!

    :)

  • Beautiful. Recommended by Susan Boyle. Haha~ both have beautiful talents in their own way.

  • susan boyle gets my emotion more, she rocks! she actually experience the meanings in the song so she sing with more emotion, you can feel it deep -weeps-

  • she makes susan boyle sound amazing

  • now if she could only get her candle business off the ground and her relationship out of the gutter

  • Wow. I had no idea that Melora could sing. What a beautiful voice.
