  • Nobody Does it Better is a great song, but I still think Goldfinger should have been number 1.

  • You put "You Know My Name" at number five, but you put "Another Way to Die" dead last???

    Well that's...very arbitrary. O_o

  • Wow. Just before searching youtube for a list of best Bond films I was thinking that Quantom of Solace was my worst and Spy who loved me was my favorite as well. You really nailed it. The only thing I would change is that Goldeneye would be a little higher on my list and Casino Royale wouldve been my number 3. Great video.

  • Thanks for the commentary! Of course many people will have slightly different views but hey it's your opinion and it's good to watch any commentary that is well informed, descriptive and by a good James Bond film. Thanks!

  • "Who would've thought Paul McCartney could make a good bond song?". WTF? It's freaking Paul MacCartney. "Nobody does it better " is indeed a great song, no one would argue with that (it's also a great movie with one of the best Bond girls), it's my second favorite after "Live and Let Die". Why do you say this is your professional opinion (what's your job)?

  • ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH YOUR CHOICES

  • His top 5 was better but a View to a kill not being 1 or 2 huge mistake! Goldfinger should be the other option for top spot.

  • You Only Live Twice and Goldfinger are my top 2.

Wasn't John Barry awesome? RIP, John. You were one of the best and your music will live on long after people forget who composed it.

  • Totally agree with #1! Great ranking

  • Overall, the list is somewhat balanced than most other personal 007 lists I could find. Agree with the top 3 on your list but not so much with the order ( but again, it is your list not mine ). I'd put Goldfinger by Shirley Bassey on top of the list and that is the quintessential 007 theme song IMO. Toss up between Paul McCartney and Carly Simon and they can be #2 and #3 either way and both are terrific 007 theme songs. Probably Carly Simon at #2 just because its from a better 007 flick.

  • # 19 and 20 are cheezy you are right, # 4 is like watching a disney movie theme, but whats a bad album cover of chris cornell have to do with the quality of the song, live and let die , know my name , no body does it better, gold finger and then the duran duran song

  • countdown....MY review is coming soon...

  • wow how I love live and let die, I get chills when I hear that song xD

  • Thunderball is my fave Bond movie and song, although I also love the unused Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang song by Shirley Bassey

  • How can you rank "For Your Eyes Only" at # 16 or whatever you did, and say it was because it put you to sleep" when "You only live Twice" is every bit as "sleepy"? I personally think both of them are top 7.

Goldfinger is my #2 also but "Nobody does it Better" (love Carly - hate that song) SUCKS.

Now for some trivia: The #1 best Bond"ish" song ever, wasn't even in a Bond movie, but starred one of the best Bonds (Roger Moore) - what is the song?

    Answer: watch?v=C0jCl5EvBx4

  • Daniel Craig is the worst James bond ever. when he TRIES to look serous he REALLY looks constipated

  • @smithmanish

I disagree. Daniel Craig in particular manages to convey cynicism and professional ruthlessness. Thanks to Craig's acting it was easy to see Bond's emotional struggles before he lost the last shred of his humanity in Casino Royale. I haven't seen Quantum of Solace more than once, so I haven't got much to say for him there one way or the other. I resented the fact that they returned to the formulaic Bond recipe again.

For the record, worst Bond: Lazenby.

  • @bacala777 I remember my first beer....

  • Ok all you haters can knock it off because he said it was his opinion and he has a right to it and you can differ, I like Thunderball and You Know My Name best, but you haters who do this all day can go get yourself something good and give this guy a break

  • mostly agree!

  • live and let die is a great movie!

  • live and let die is a great movie!

  • you re gay

    and have very bad taste

  • thanks for the great countdown, i've tried to place these bond themes in my order of opinion but i just can't choose my favourite (though the worst is die another day). although you mentioned it but didn't include it one of my favourite bond themes is the on her majesty's secret service theme, to me it sums up bond but so does nobody does it better. all the themes are great in different ways and i hope theres many more to come :)

  • That is my favorite Bond song too. Good choice

  • number 1 seemed one of the cheesiest =/ . .. but I liked the other 4 a lot

  • 5: Would have been 2 for me....but to each his own.

4: Would have been 5 or 6 but again, its still a good song.

    3: AGREED

2: Certainly a top 5 song, but I would have put it at 4. Goldfinger is a great Bond film (my #3 best film) but I really think it is a tad overrated as well.

1: Good choice! Again, not my personal favorite, but it's a top 10 for sure. They really did great picking this song to remember Desmond Llewelyn with.

  • I'm with you with most of the top 5 here. You Only Live Twice is great, especially considering it places you in the country where most of the film takes place. So is Live and Let Die, another of my favorites (though I like the film too...). Goldfinger, who doesn't like that song. And Spy Who Loved Me might be my favorite film, great theme. Casino Royale, I don't know if I would have put it here, it's kinda the outlier, but it is a good song. I would probably have put GoldenEye there.

  • I do love the opening credit animation to Casino Royale, that stood out to me when I saw the film...

  • You don't strike me as a man who plays video games, but there's one game that I think has an amazing opening song. The game is called Nightfire. It's just my opinion, honestly though it got me in a 007 mood. Your #1 by the way...have that on my playlist for graveyard shift. Makes work feel like it's not even happening.

  • Well, it's . . . . huhhhh. . . . different. And nowhere near what I'd pick as a top 5.

  • Your countdown is almost the same way I would.

BTW I loved that pun: ''Nobody does it better than Carly Simon''. The name was Nobody does it better. Loved your countdown.

  • btw, did u know that you only live twice (the movie) is written by roald dahl

    how cool is that!

  • @digydigdogdead Dude it was Ian Fleming. Roald Dahl wrote the screenplay. For your not-so-bond-fan memory, Ian Fleming wrote the first 16 bond movies until GoldenEye

  • @iffar321 thats wat i just said

if u look agian i put the movie in brackets#

    read before you troll

  • @iffar321

Well, he wrote the stories that the films were then based on...didn't write the films themselves (as evidenced by the fact that the name of anti-spy organization SMERSH in the books was changed to SPECTRE in the films).

  • Well done, sir; I applaud your choices and your reasoning behind them (although my personal fav is 'You Know My Name'). I also think "License To Kill" should've have been lower; not so much for the god-awful lyrics but the fact it drags on interminably...the album version is over 5 minutes long! A Good Bond theme should be 4 minutes and no longer.

Again, good choices and a question: Do you also like the score for "The Spy Who Loved Me" as well as the theme? Thanks for the vids!!!

  • My favorite; View to a Kill.

  • I really enjoyed this countdown! Thanks :)

  • GOLDFINGEEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i would love if the next Bond films have that rocky stile and mysterious lyrics as another way to die and you know my name

  • well if i'd have to call my favourite songs then it would be ( I have no particular order)

    You know my name

    Goldeneye

    Goldfinger

    The spy who loved me

    You only live twice

    Another way to die

    Live or let die

  • another way to die would have been in my top 5 instead of gold finger

  • hey

I liked garbage's James bond song

  • One more thing, I think Goldeneye is a hell of a good song, I really enjoy listening to the Tomorow Never Dies song because of it s opening (In my opinion the best opening sequence)!

  • Hey Dude, seriously! Thank yoU!!!!!! I m a huge james bond fan, at this excatly min tears are runing down of my eyes... It s been soo long since I saw a good james bond movie! I have the hole collection at my parent s house. I really love the james bond world, in my dreams I would like to be like him, to live his life...and of course, everything coupled with some nice songs such as those your showed us. Agree with you n#1, and for me Thunderball is the best movie too.

  • i love you know my name

  • WTF at #1, it's the least fitting out of all of them, it's too fragile and the least fitting to bond's manly, badass character, IMO, Chris Cornell's song at #5 should be first

  • I go for "All time high" but this one is also among my favorites.

  • Not a bad list but I reckon that Goldfinger should have been number 1. Its one of the most popular James Bond songs

  • You pronounced Shirley Bassey's name wrong..... god damn man you're sitting at a computer making this video, look up how to pronounce her name. Disgrace.

  • Very nice job on your review and presentation, one of the best on you tube. I'm sure everyone does not agree with all of the choices, it is very subjective, I would have put

Diamonds are Forever and For Your Eyes Only higher. Thanks from a Bond fan

  • Nice top 5, however your #1 would probably be my worst rated. Funny :)

  • the spy who loved me has the best theme song and is the best movie

  • Nice list :)

I totally agree with number one.

    It's the best :D

  • I disagree I dont think The spy who loved me had the best song.

  • Good List

  • Great video! I love Bond films. Not my Top 5 though.

  • WHAT!

    GOLDFINGER ISNT NUMBER #1?!?!?

  • IMO 1.Connery-He is Bond 2.Moore-Close 2nd 3.Dalton-Very Underrated 4.Craig-Good Bond 5.Brosnan-Ordinary 6.Lazenby-Meh BOND SONGS 1.License to Kill 2.Goldfinger 3.The spy who loved me 4.Goldeneye 5.Live and let Die 6.View to a Kill
  • Good list. Goldeneye and License to kill should have been higher

  • awesome man... not only was your favorite a great song, but there could be no better song to end a video haha congrats

  • Marvin Hamlisch's score is more suitable for "Saturday Night Fever", not a Bond movie. The ratings are well explained, but after all it's all just a matter of taste.

A View to A Kill, Live and Let Die, Diamonds are Forever, The Living Daylights, Goldfinger and GoldenEye - these are my favourites, and I don't rank them.

  • the best bond songs are ones with singers with powerful voices aka shirley bassey and tom jones maybe micheal buble should have a go at the next bond film cry me a river sounds like a bond song already

  • Oh my god. Now I know this is only your opinion but I couldn't disagree more with most of that. Goldfinger yes your right that one is probably rightly placed but I would have changed allot of them, especially goldeneye!

  • nice job overall with this list...I agree with most of it except I'd move Goldeneye up and Nobody Does It Better pretty far down...

  • I've seen every 007 movie in the cinema the first week they come out and nearly cried when I heard the Madonna one. I remember thinking, "Does she have to be in EVERYTHING?" at the time. And I like Madonna too. Just think she did not fit with 007 image in any way.

My top 5: 1. Goldfinger 2. You Know My Name 3. A View To A Kill 4. Live & Let Die 5. Thunderball

Good Job here. I enjoyed watching! 5 stars!

  • Great list! The only issue I have (I say issue, but meh) is that your criticism for 'For Your Eyes Only' seems to correspond with what I hear in the 'Spy Who Loved Me' track, which you rated highest~! hehe (just a personal opinion)

  • wait he said that number 1 is the first one that the songs tital didnt match the movie but the sings name was teh spy who loved me

  • my no.1 favorite too!

  • What is your favourite bond movie?

  • I liked the theme of Tomorrow never dies the best, but that's my opinion :P

  • my favorite is: you know my name from casino royale. like you said it's loud and it has the best lyrics of them all. and it's also a great movie. thank you for this countdown. it heped my find some theme songs witch i don't know the name of. great videos!!

  • Number 5 is my favorite of the bond songs

  • You only Live twice sounds like a dying cat being dragged along a thai highway.

  • Funny... but you didn't really have to say that. I like it.

  • NUMBER ONE IS FUCKING HORRIBLE!!!!

  • @EvilAlligator no? its AWSOME!!!!!! :D

  • How dare you! You have no FUCKING place to make a comment like that! It's not my favorite, but, it's up there. Actually, I hated it when I was a little kid, but, any little kid would find it boring. I love now though and that's all that matters. So, don't bitch at people like that when they did nothing to you!

  • @Bisbeatle who the fuck am i bitching at you retard? I said it was horrible. explain to me, mr. fuckhead, who i was bitching at. i have every right to say that. so shut the fuck up and go fucking by a brain, you stupid fuck

  • @EvilAlligator Let's see... 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... I counted five fucks in there! Wow! You really got pissed for no reason, didn't you? Tell me, do you have a reason to do that to someone who posts a comment disagreeing with you? Or are you just that fucking stupid? Have a nice day!

  • @Bisbeatle k ur obviously fucking high.

  • @EvilAlligator Haha! Dude! You're hilarious! You continue to post these stupid comments, when all I did was disagree with you! Stop making me laugh man!

  • @Bisbeatle you know what? this is funny to me, because I simply said my opinion, that number one was horrible, and you startted going all pussy on me. maybe listen to your own advice and stop trying to sound cool, faggot. "How fucking dare you". Seriously, you're the funny one. you started this whole thing and your telling me not to disagree with your comments?! wow. U are such a fucking idiot

  • @EvilAlligator Now see, there you go again. I started "going pussy" on you. And... no, I'm not trying to be cool, and I'm not a fag. I'm just not getting as upset as you are over something stupid like this. Have a fucking good day!

  • @Bisbeatle wow ur stupid u started the argument retard. way to get pissed too

  • @notJUSTmatt Yeah... I did. I'm a hypocrite though.

  • My top 2 fave's are You Know My Name and Nobody Does it Better!!!

  • goldeneye should be 5 or at least above the diamonds are forever

  • I'm going to guess before I watch it I already know this guys' number 1 is 'Live and let Die' by Paul McCartney.

  • Wow, look at that... you were wrong.

  • you and I don't see eye to eye when it comes to James Bond opening songs.

  • Wow. That was a pointless thing to say. What's your fav? Moonraker?

  • I actually think that Goldfinger is one of the worst Bond songs. It is not unbearable bad but it sounds banal and a big mess of brass instruments.

  • I somewhat agree... it's not a fav, but, it's good. Goldfinger is my favorite Bond movie though!

  • I thought it was great, I have my own opinions, You only live twice and Man with the Golden gun would be switched and A View To A Kill would be up there, but it was great, Well done, Personally my Favorite Bond is Roger Moore :3 which distorts my opinion about bond themes, I enjoy them more if they're Moore's :P... And your right, the first Canadian to do a Bond Theme K.D.Lang does Surrender and gets replaced by Sheryl Crow :S...Surrender is the most Bondish theme in my opinion.

  • Editing and commentary were great...no doubt. But your ranking is really a mess...I expected Goldeneye a least in the top 5. Putting it on #14 is a blemish.

  • Well, it's his opinion...

  • are you serious.... Nobody does it better is the number 1... that spot should belong to Goldeneye. I don't know what your on, I mean awesome list but was shaking my head at the top 5 and seeing goldeneye at 14......

  • my top:

    3. goldfinger: duh.

    2. you only live twice: gives me a tingly feeling, very soothing, and the movie that follows it is great.

    1. casino royale: best one because like a week before it was announced i watched archangel and danial craig became a favorite actor, and suddenly... HE'S THE NEW BOND?!?! :D and then the song itself is like the perfect bond revival song. intence and in your face. and the movie that follows is just as amazing, better than quantum of solace by a long shot.

  • The games don't count?

  • Same number 1 song as me. Bond fans thinking alike

  • I'd put Goldfinger right at the top

  • ILOVE THE SPY WHO LOVED ME !

    the best song EVER.

    it's so beautifull!

and she is a good singer (my english is bad becouse i'm from holland)

  • A very well edited and entertaining countdown, TokDiYel. Although I disagree with some of your chronology, you make very strong arguments. One question, though: what is that fantastic Bond theme composition at the beginning of Part 3 (with good ol' Rog being thrown out of the airplane by Jaws in Moonraker?)

  • I agree that Nobody Does It Better is the best, but I have no idea why you don't like Tomorrow Never Dies xP

  • the newer the Bond movies get (look at Bond helping aids in Quantum of Solace) the more modern the songs get, look at another way to die and you know my name, the songs are getting different. If there would be another sequel with Craig, (they haven't found the top boss of the Quantum yet) I would love it they would put a song like

    Hysteria of Muse

    or the new one

Underdog of Kasabian(well, on second hand, that last song won't fit

  • I personally put the Shirley Bassey epics above the others, but I'm sort of small minded about the classics. Thanks for doing this countdown, I really enjoyed it.

  • You did an excellent job on your top five. I'm not sure there's a more beautiful Bond theme than "You Only Live Twice" I would replace "You Know My Name" with "A View To A Kill". I would have also put "Live and Let Die" #1.

  • hmm... interesting, not my top 5, but pretty good, my favorite is Casino Royal, just because of the (somewhat) fast paced music it brings to the bond film, I still really like ur choices : )

    5/5

  • Hey Toyman, would love to know your top 5! Anyway, thanks for watching. I really like Casino Royale, and in 10 years, I might look back on that song as groundbreaking enough to bump it up a couple notches.

  • ok thanks for asking...

    5. Gold finger

    4. The spy who loved me

    3. The man with the golden gun

    2. Live and let die

    1. Casino Royal Maybe not your top 10 but we all have opinions... :)

  • @TokDiYel eh, WRONG,....god such sucky top 22, you should have made a poll or something...

  • TokDiYel! thousands thumbs up for u!! i really love your countdowns... Anyway, English is not my first language,, can u explain to me why u putted Another Way To Die in your least favorite??

Nobody does it better than Carly Simon!

  • "Another Way to Die" breaks tradition. Nothing wrong with breaking tradition...but do it with a good song. I believe the best component of music is is hormonious melody. Another Way to Die is not harmonious nor does it have a melody.

  • @TokDiYel well yea but it kicks ass it really defines the new bond movies and alicia keys has an amazing voice

  • @TokDiYel i can see you thinking that in the way madonna performs it but by some stroke of luck i got a cd with all the bond themes before the appearence of daniel craig played with an orchestra and die another day sounds like a much more appreciatable piece btw great vids great choices good insights
  • casino royal is the best i think

  • my favorites is the new with daniel craig and a view to a kill

but i think what from russia with love is very dull

  • Nice list overall. Your Top 4 is nice. YOLT it too high and TLD is too low. DAD is not that great but you're being to hard on it. Good to hear you prefer the underrated Tomorrow Never Dies end credits song to Crowe's mess of a song.

As far as the films go I love LALD but agree AVTAK is one of the weaker ones. None of them are bad for me.

Lastly, I prefer FRWL's opening the way it is: without lyrics. Matt Monro's singing is good but Barry's orchestra playing during the titles is so damn good!

  • I like your re-arrangement. I obviously have a bit of personal bias in my rankings. YOLT may not be top 5 strong, but I have a weakness for that song. I love the way the melodies intertwine. Don't think I'm being hard on DAD. I almost put that one dead last.

FRWL's original opening was very strong, indeed. But I think an intro with lyrics is always stronger.

    Thanks for your input!

  • i love qauntum of solace and casino royale

  • live and let die is a good movie

  • What's your favorite Bond movie?

  • ok i'm impressed. i'm pretty darn critical by nature, and i'm a huge 007 fan, but you did good. i can't argue with your choices even though view to a kill and thunderball would be a little higher on my list. but you certainly did your homework and you definately know what you're talking about. well done bro :)

  • Really good and entertaining videos!

Your arguments and criteria also seem very smart and logical.

    Good work!

  • Well done, thank you very much. :-)
