Lou Prohut was one of the greatest accordionists of all time. He had super clean technique. I have some of his music taped off the radio from my first accordion teacher in the 50's. This stuff is really rare. He's doing lady of spain, glow worm, and many others. I have a question to Mary was Lou Polish ? He will live on in my heart forever.
That is my dad's accordian. It warmed my heart to hear it played again and with so much great technique! It brings back many happy memories of hearing my dad play and perform. Thanks for sharing. Mary Prochut Marino
Thanks for your comment Mary. I see a different spelling of your name on the comment then I thought was correct. Was your dad's name Lou Prohut? I found several LP's in me collection, and one has your dad playing the accordion in the video. Both on the Front and the back of the LP jacket. I will see that David gets this copy of the LP. It seems to be appropriate for him to have it because he has the accordion. He is really a great player and gentleman. Thanks again, Len
OH! The name thing. PROCHUT is our legal spelling. It is pronounced PROHUT with the CH sound, so for ease of pronunciation was changed for show biz! As a note, another of his accordions is in use with the Tamburitzan's through the Unniversity of Pittsburgh. I have seen them perform and the accordian is in use for the stage performances. Such a joy to see the special Imperial accordians still be used on stage. Thanks for the U Tube experience. Dad would have loved this new technology.
