The only problem Israelis had with that song was that it just wasn't good. The IBA thought that the whole peace trend would make Europeans vote for them, however they judged it for its quality which is why it reached the 16th place. Not that we didn't send worse songs...

I was five when Israel won ESC 1979. It is a classic and maybe the song that reppresents best Eurosong and its aim - to gather a few nations of this world commited to celebrate with the human voice. This song is universal. Simple things we want most are granted through Love and Peace. We don't need no more than a simple word to thank what we receive for free everyday - no matter if we are jewish, christian or muslim we know what Hallelujah mean. That is our common heritage.
