Congratulations you've just discovered RADIO waves! This device is an E-field generator. That's not very non-conventional at all.

Try tuning your receiving device(s) with a coil & capacitor tuned to the frequency your generator (transmitter) is running at. You should be able to hear it on a short wave receiver.
