I've only seen the series twice in my youth.

The first time was when I rented a video of it from Randalls.

The second time was when the story had something to do with that squirrel and a nasty wolf.

I read on Wikipedia that this is an anime.

it was a show we all watched as kids because we didnt have other chanels playing cartoons at the times that this was on . i used to make fun of this show but i was still captivating and i always felt sad at the end.  I think a few swear words and adult themes would be funny as f==k .

I was never satisfied with the finale of this anime when I was a little girl. I figured if Rocky left his family to discover what adventures awaited him in the green forest, he would've at least or at one point gone back to revisit his old family back home, but that never was the case in the end.

TVO shows like Parlez-Moi, Jeremy, Fables of the Green Forest, Read all About It, all had this certain duality. They could educate..as well as terrify. Seriously, plug in "Parlez Moi" on youtube and check that out. Very freaky. "Jeremy"...a bear kidnapped and enslaved by a tyrannical Circus Master...it goes on and on.

Yes, is Anime made by TOEI and it was called "Rocky Chuck, The Mountain Rat", but ZIV International and Mark Mercury adapted the series as it was part of the Thornton W. Burgess novel. As I assume was International distribution, Canada may have see this and the Candy Candy anime, but was wondering if the USA also see those!

I would also be interested in finding out if an Anime known as Candy (Candy Candy) was seen in the US around 1981 or later. I know I seen those in Puerto Rico, but was wondering about US TV stations overall.
