  • I know ow the dude feels at 7:38. I used my 7D in the rain while shooting a concert yesterday. It also survived Mushroomhead's Water Drums.

  • 7D and 5D Mark II are still Great Camera, better investing to the Canon L Series Lenses than buy 5D Mark III.. wait until a year the price of 5D Mark III will be drop significantly

  • 5D mark2 or 5D mark3?

  • why does he have that masterpiece hanging on a Nikon strap?

  • I'd wear Canon weather proof pants

  • 6:30 Foodwishes music!!!

  • @EinKompliment another foodwishes fan lol

  • DEATH TO KONY !

  • 7D Mk 2 ???

  • This is top gear humour... Although not funny

  • The gag at the end isn't very environmentally friendly.

  • For some reason this is my favorite DigitalRev vid. I've watched it multiple times. I have the 7D and love it, but the 5D is also an amazing camera.

  • someone tell me which of those camara is better?

  • @1mcto Like he said. Depends on the user. If you are fast action shooter get 7D , if you are more casual or overall shooter get 5DmkII

  • @TheBunnyFilms ok thanks.

  • doesn't rain damage cameras?

  • I dunno the design engineer in me still is yelling...... we don't need those mirrors at all get rid of them !

  • @DigitalRevCom

are the iso test photos taken with the in camera NR or without?

  • How important is really the full frame? I have tried the Mark II with a wide angle, and it was fucking amazing. But I'm still poor, and I don't know if I can really justify buying the Mk II

  • which one is hotter?

  • 60D FUCKER !

  • that will be 1500 HKD for the umbrella, thank you very much, now tree huggers will come chasing after you with a slaughtering knife : )

  • Just get rid of that umbrella

  • 05:02 Food made in China

  • Mark ii or 7D .. I'm TOO CONFUSED ! What would you guys recommend ?!

  • @Trunkyard depends what you want to use it for, look at some of the best you tubers, Freddiew, devinsupertramp, they all use the 5D, but devin also uses the 7D, so its totally up to you, i would recommend going to a shop and testing both of them. Hope this helps :)

  • @Trunkyard

    mark III just arrived!

  • @msaha1992 It's toooo expensive !

  • Comment removed

  • Nothing is going to succeed the 7d this year :/ :'(

  • :yuno: get a strap for 7D!??

  • is 5D or 7D or other better when wanting to make amazing youtube videos or making movies at home

  • @2Exotic2Fly2High both of them will make great videos for home or youtube. it all depends on you. but even with the crop frame sensor in the 7D you can get really good picture. almost every professional camcorder (video camera) between $2000 and $10,000 has a crop frame sensor. Excluding the DSLR's obviously. The 7D is cheaper usually so I would go for that one.

  • 7d Is Better for movies.....Point Blank

  • Thanks for dumping more trash into the oceans... Can't believe he did that after himself complain about the trash at the harbor earlier in the video...

  • why does he sound like a asshole, all the time?

  • "7D is a bit of a smart asre". I love this guy!

  • I'm I the only one who watches this through their fingers, when he dangles those cameras over the water?

  • @FeckIdiditagain I was less concerned when Michael Jackson dangled his kids over a balcony.

  • I CANT WAIT TO GET THE 7D...

  • Having a Nikon strap on a Canon camera is like having Nike socks with Adidas shoes

  • @Jsflor55

    He does that deliberately!!

Kai has a sort of 'Top Gear meet cameras' thing going on.

He's goofy enough to be funny but not so goofy that you think he's a pillock.

It's his opinion we're hearing but that's fine, we're grown ups and can make our own decisions.

We just like being entertained while we get the specs.

  • i wont buy the 7D mk2 unless it has flippy swively screen

  • @sasktank and for me...if it does...i don't buy....

  • @sasktank flippy swively screen is gay

  • @sasktank It probably wont have one. Why? To keep it weatherproofed.

  • Please tell me which of the two is better for videos. 5d or 7d?? Thanks

  • @Gkatoto: let me know as well when you find out... I'm thinking of getting one of those myself but which one is better for Videos?

  • @enricoamniat 5d smokes the 7d for video

  • @Gkatoto 5d mk2 wins against a 7d for video,

  • @Gkatoto Yeah the 5D is better for video because of the full frame sensor. In my opinion if you are not shooting video that is going to be shown on a big screen, lets say at a festival, then the 7D or even the 60D will be good enough. Like on Youtube or Vimeo, its hard to tell between a 60D, 7D and 5D. But when you blow up the image on a big projector screen the 5D will outperform. This is only my opinion though.

  • I'm the 2000th comment. I think I just jizzed in my pants...

  • Is 5d and 7d waterproof?

  • @legostarwarsfan20101 They're water resistant but I don't think they're waterproof.

  • these 2 DSLR will going to get murdered with A77

  • @1addictsad78 The A77 is not better than the 5D Mark2.

  • As Seen On: مـنـتـدى الـعـرب الـم...

    LOL

  • Are dslrs waterproof ?

  • @WantedTom most of the modern ones can take some rain but you can't submerge them or anything.

  • @hobocamptheater lol.... if anyone submerges their camera.. their in trouble.

  • He obviously favors the 5d Mk II considering the strap and all

  • looks like that 7d is ready for ebay after getting so wet, what did you shoot this video with please. thx

  • after watching this video , i finally made my decision. i'm taking the d90. tnx

  • You don't turn off the beep

  • @faroeseporn nikon fan XD?

  • umbrela - made in china xD

  • just proves the aliens have landed

  • Why ur tone of talking sounds so weird...?

  • hey dude can i tell you something?????

    your umbrella is fucked up

  • MkII is also 21.1 megapixel.

    7d is 18

  • @ChicagoLongboarding And so what? Full HD is 2.1 MP, so you need larger resolutions for print only. I'd say 99% people don't print larger than 18MP, which is HUGE. And 21.1MP isn't that much wider..

  • @janne4567 You think most people don't print larger than 18MP, I'm still using my 20D (8MP) for my wedding photography and news photography, and I don't print as large as A3 which is possible with only 8megapixels. Makes you wonder about the necessity of ever larger resolution cameras...

  • DigitalRev Umbrella ROCKS!! \m/

  • dude ,he said fanny pack

  • I want the Canon 75D ...

  • Comment removed

  • I would rather go for the Canon 7D and don't tell me I'm sounding like a dumb-ass !

  • Really enjoyed the video, you kept me laughing, all throughout it!

(i needed a bit of fun), so thanks! :D

  • LOL Canon camera with Nikon Strap ... WIN / FAIL

  • @GamingLord007 Knowing him, he's done that on purpose !

  • -.- He has a Nikon strap for the 7D

  • @KOJOMOSES *5D not 7D

  • @DigitalRevCom Canon 5D Mark III is coming out?

  • @vanityaffection will be announced on the 28th

  • @LiMiTMediaHD I'm merely replying to you saying it's not possible. I never said it improves quality or anything of the like.

  • that umbrella is really strong... I guess you didnt buy that from Temple street

  • The 7d is clearly a better camera in every way.

  • I was really nervous about seeing him with that cameras in front of the water :S

  • Love the Nikon strap on the camera lol SMH!

  • he should've used the double black rapid strap for efficient and convenient use.

  • What? "A flippy uppy flash," then I must have one!

  • @LiMiTMediaHD ...It's called using a converter.

  • i cracked up at his opening his umbrella lol

  • hi kai..!! i love watching your videos.. and after quiet a while i have planned to buy a dslr.. and i want to buy canon 7d.. but there are rumors that its replacement is on the way.. so can you please tell wether i should buy it or should wait for its replacement

  • "Its like top gun!" hahaha

  • Your weird!

  • 1.300$ http://goo.gl/etSaj

  • Horribly executed review, lovely touch shooting both in full burst where you can't differentiate the sound of the shutters. And the shot of the shooting in the storm while struggling with the umbrella was bufoonish in the extreme. You want to get level shots on the 5d just "put it down?" brilliant, utterly brilliant

  • You guy realize they use opposite straps on the cameras to show they are unbiased, right?

  • The idiot throws the umbrella in the water, so clueless ....

  • i'd pay the extra and get the 5d anyday!!!

  • Awesome video

  • nikon strap on a canon ? XD

  • @matthiaslorin: wanted to mention it as well....

  • haha anyone notice the Nikon strap on the 5d?

  • While I liked this review, as it's one of these two cameras I'm trying to decide on purchasing, I think this guy a a bit crazy, and that's putting it mildly. As crewsd mentions in their comment, watching this guy wrestle with these two great and expensive cameras before and after a thunderstorm makes me REALLY nervous, especially so close to the water and what happens to his umbrella towards the end. If he did drop one in the water I don't know if I would have cried or lmao!

  • Brilliant! :)

  • This was one of the first DigitalRev video I ever saw, months and months... probably almost a year ago. It was when I was just starting to get really into photography, and I would watch any video I could about cameras. I really didn't know which one was better then, and I didn't know a lot about the difference for a full frame, other than the crop. I think when I upgrade, it would probably be for a 5D mk 3 in a while FOR the full frame.

  • Funny how people worry about him breaking a camera when on Top Gear they always risk destroying $200,000 cars. Then they intentionally destroy $5,000 used cars.

  • What lenses is he using on both slr's?

  • @kasparov9 looks like 24-70 f.2.8

  • @kasparov9 24-70 I think

  • @kasparov9 sorry, the lens on both slr is 24-105. But I thinks 24-70 will be better on 5d. for 7d, 17-55 or 24-105 will be better...

  • znowu ten idiota

  • What sort of bag is that your carrying (white with green)? It looks quite practical for carrying your gear.

  • Everyone watch the "Great Camera Shootout" where professional cinematographers and directors use Film vs cameras such as the 7D and 5D. Overall the 5D won their approval over the 7D (but both were very good). They even used the T2i and it looked stunning.

Also, did you know the 5D was used for parts of Iron Man II and Captain America? Something to think about.

  • Reminds me of an Asian Dwight Shrute haha, good video nevertheless.

  • watching him wrestle around with those really expensive cameras without a strap makes me so nervous

  • @crewsd Thats what insurance is for ;)

  • @crewsd especially when hes looking out on the bay/water without a strap.

  • @crewsd Why? I shoot weddings for job amongst my hobby/passion and straps are for having the camera on a shoulder while using a second body. Never use it for anything else.

  • @crewsd explains your account name........

  • Next money making brain wave idea!

    Camera with umbrella attachment!

  • May need to start workin out bud! can't even hold up an umbrella!

  • My heart stops every time he gets either of those cameras close to the water / holds them above water o.o

  • i like how this almost has a millions views...

  • Is this Chinese guy speaking with an English accent or is this white rhino got me loaded?

  • wtf? the 5d isn't just about its full frame, its got better image quality, noise reduction, color depth, and a better true resolution... not to mention anyone who is spending the money you do on these two cameras isn't gonna be upset about having to buy another flash, that's gonna be better than the flash on the 7d anyway. the 5d mark ii costs so much more than the 7d for a reason. woopty do... we have to hold the camera straight... darn. 7d is just very noob friendly.

  • i still prefer 5D MarK II instead!....

  • @mattabiko24 D'ooh. Meee too. ^^

  • thumbs up if you wanted him to drop the camera in the water by accident :D

  • If you throw them to the river and dry them out, would both still work?

  • @videotitan1 why in the actual fuck would you think throwing electronics into flowing (and more than often nasty) water would be a good idea

    to awnser your question: no

  • weather sealing only works IF THE LENS is ALSO WEATHER SEALED!!!!!!!

  • A wet 24-70 oh god

  • 5D mark III please come out already!

  • @ChaosConRad The 5d mark iii won't come out until later this year sometime in the late this summer this is the rumor nobody knows for sure yet

  • 2:46 dont drop it

  • I'm sorry, 7D, but Noise reduction is a very big deal for me. Its either i will save up for the 5D Mark II, or wait for the 5D Mark III. :D

  • @ 1:53 -

What I'm supposed to be thinking:

"Well, what a competently composed shot."

    What I'm actually thinking:

"They're gonna fall off, they're gonna fall off they'regonnafalloffOHCHRIST."

  • that was probably the first time I sat through an entire ad

  • im so lost between 5d & 7d :( i wanna by 1 but i don't know witch one it will be my first DSLR

  • @AAAANNNNGGGGEEEELLLL buy both then.

  • @AAAANNNNGGGGEEEELLLL You're going to buy a 5d or 7d as your FIRST camera? That's just bananas. My first camera was a Canon eos 300

  • @ImAliveYeah My first was a 7D.

  • 11:36 hahahah facepalm

  • I upgraded a few months ago to the 5d mk 2 from the t3i...That was not a mistake

  • poor umbrella...

  • Great info, thanks for posting the review/field test.

  • loving the weatherproof review! lol you're so funny! thank you for sharing

  • Sorry about my stupid question, but the 7D has a slightly better video quality because of the higher shutter speed? Because of the AF? I don't understand anything about, sorry again. I just want to buy a good camera to record the performances of the musicians in my studio, so I can't wonder a better place to ask than here. (A tip about which lens would be really appreciated too. Is the EF-S 18-135 enough?). (I'm not a pro, ok!) Thanks in advance.

  • @tmmphono 7D hands down better than the 5d on video, not only because of what you mentioned but remember, its a newer camera, so canon has perfected their ways. that lens is a ok lens, its not bad, depending on what conditions you want to shoot it. if there will be low light, get a faster lens canon 28mm f1.8 is a great lens for video.

  • @elsanchokaki Thank you very much! Yes, most of the time will be at low light. I was reading (and looking the samples) about the EF 70-200, and I loved what I saw, even with cameras such 550D or 60D the image is stunning... But it has no IS, what worries me (cause I'm not a pro)... Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.

  • @tmmphono well yes, and you'd expect that for being an L lens, plus the price tag. just keep in mind that on a camera like the 7D you need to factor in the crop sensor so it won't be a 70-200mm it will be a 112-320mm lens. that IMO is too much of a focal length for indoor shooting. its better to go with a 24-70mm f2.8 L lens, which is the same quality and with a faster aperture better for indoor and low light situations.

  • Who cares what brand someone uses? Especially a strap. Half the glass I use on my 5 and 7d are Nikons.

The only people that give a rip about such stuff are the ones that care more about carrying equipment around as jewelry rather than shooting images.

  • @path88productions Exactly! I use a Nikon strap on my Canon equipment.. and I'd prefer a soft cloud-like strap than the crispy Canon straps

  • @path88productions absolutely correct my friend

  • @path88productions yep so true I agree I carry a Nikon 3000 proud

  • Press 5 for shutter speed ;)

  • How we all- digitalrevtv watchers know- Kai usually knows how to break and drop things :D

  • Comment removed

  • D700 vs 5D MK2 please.

  • The last 3 minutes of this video, I got the overwhelming feeling to murder this guy!

  • @fsastudent They're just fake kits.

  • @fsastudent No problem, it's just a canon!
