Yes I have had Beta since the beginning of the year. If you bought a computer in the last 3 months with Vista, you can get a free upgrade to windows 7. I bought it yesterday after testing it all year. Great OS.

Um almost any new computer ( aside from the latest vist fiasco) will run much better all the way around. I mac deal with Macs and fix them occasionally for partner's wives.

They crash just like anything else if you put crap on it. And its not better all the around - I always have those lovers of Macs complaining they cant user alot of hardware or software with it.

Plus most professionals went with Vista 64 because Apple dropped the ball with alot of its software 3rd parties.

I do not have any interest in business infrastructure. I am interested in programming in Java amongst other languages which is arguably more complex than tasks generally carried out by the IT department.

Most mac users are normal, and I know a very good programmer that uses a mac. And he does most of for sites and uses flash ironically.

I also have a friend thats in chanrge of game design for the military and he deals with mac designers too. As a platform the mac is simply not as collaborative with others. In technology they are one of the last ti implement.

At a costs - they are the most expensive for even just repackaging the exact same hardware they never even built.

I do feel that I should make the following point though: as a platform the mac is actually more collaborative than Windows, it's just that more people use Windows, you don't find an 'export as Pages document' button on Word, but you do find 'Export as Word document' on pages.

Not sure about the last to implement thing also, they have pioneered a lot of ideas, such as multitouch and magsafe.

Actually most of the "hardware" under the hood of a Mac is 3rd party/PC vendors. They have made only slight modifications , no of which are performance enhancing and most of which are simply to help fit their shells/cases/deisgn. And I admit its pretty.

However its is NOT more collaborative and they as you can tell most 3rd party addons are for Windows.

Multitouch is a COPYMARK not a patent as they didnt pioneer the work on it.

And Magsage - again design nothing to do with computers

Yes I agree that looking at specifications alone, you would clearly end up buying a PC as it appears you get more for your money.

It is difficult to explain this to someone who has not owned a mac so please excuse me for any misleading comments. On a mac you get the OS included on a disc with the computer, which allows you to maintain it yourself. The OS is built for the hardware, meaning it can be more efficient than any PC of the same specs. I've run out of characters.

And many companies DO send the OS along with the PC - its their base IMAGE that is meant for that PC with their key already set so not authentication by MS needed.

Windows also sells unlocked versions of their OS. But you can put this on ANY PC - including a MAC natively. This is the innovation and collaboration of MICROSOFT AND HARDWARE VENDORS and NOT APPLE!

In fact apple ilegally locks their OSX to an EFI chip on their board. Because it breaks the copyright misuse doctrine.

Yes a lot of office have people still on XP but many many offices are running Vista.

And with increased performance, start up time, battery life, etc. There's more than enough reasons to switch to windows 7.

I highly doubt you know about "professionals" if you have ever even taken a glimpse at the business world, it is dominated by PCs. I doubt you have ever even used Windows 7 because you are spouting off features like it being instable. Windows 7 is rock solid stable, I have NEVER had to restart my computer due to a crash, and I run Microsoft Security Essentials, a free anti-virus that does not interfere with me but protects me from pretty much all viruses.

I'm running the final release of Windows 7 Ultimate and it is running much faster than the Beta and RC version. The only thing that is slowly is the boot time is maybe a few seconds slower, but then again I went from 32 bit to 64 bit and 64 bit is known to have a longer boot-time.

I have been running Windows 7 since January, and the final code since september and I can tell you from personal experience that Windows 7 is the most stable OS I have come across, and yes, I have used OS X.
