Nothing has changed since I was Pembroke student 20 years ago except that the absurdity of it all has mounted a little higher. It is time to drop both the Latin and the religion. Most of the people in the room don't understand Latin, and aren't religious, so saying Latin grace just wastes their time while giving a tiny number of reactionary theocrats a small buzz. Oxford has dropped the mandatory Old English which was inflicted on me as part of the English course, so it can drop this too.
