  • well here in the north of ireland the kids play .... way apart :( the prods over there and the fenians ( as they call us ) over her :( now that cant be right ? :( cant the kids , all the kids of the world play 2gether as 1 ? :) omg thats my dream :)

  • Saw him do this Live in a Small Gymnasium at McMaster University in 1976 and he Still Rules!!!

  • truely talented man

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • wonderful cat ....

  • turn off the lights, turn up your gizmo...plug in ear phones, sit back and relax, listen to the lyrics. When you are done, unplug the ear phones, gizmos....can you answer his question? Where do the children play?

  • @polmaccaba01 Inside each and every one of us.

  • he's just one chill guy playing some pretty perfect music. Why cant people look past his religion and find that?

  • This version of Where do the Children Play is the absolute best....Nothing tops this version...Yusuf in his youth let the music gently sway and move him to the core of his being (and ours)...I so loved that as well as all his music...But, to quote a Master, "We're changin day to day.." I'm thrilled to my soul he's back with new music water the garden of our heart...I'll love him forever...His music is a tale of my life too...He's a master! <3 :) NOW!

  • words cant describe the beauty and tragedy of this song..as we all grow older we are more wiser yet more dumb. I don't have answers but i know a good tune, and my kids will listen...like i did when my my father gave it to me.

  • freedom for the people, no more consumerism

  • An absolutely fantastic performance from a great artist! - Thanks for uploading this....I'm adding it straight to my Playlist!!

  • There's no more room up there. How true. Our greatest sin is that we're leaving a world to our children, our generations to come, that is so sadly skeptical. There is no more innocence, and we are all worse off for it.

  • goosebumps, a beautiful song from a beautiful person

  • AS THE GREAT GREAT GRANDAUGHTER OF ALI MOHAMMEDS SUCCESSOR I LOVE YUSUF ISLAM HIS MUSIC SAVED MY LIFE SADAT SORAYA MAHEEN ZIAI

  • No matter how many times I watch this I cry because his music is so beautiful.

  • This is my all time favorite performance of this song... Absolutely soul moving!!!

Especially when he sings "crack the sky..." and the curtain rises... oh god... Enjoyed... taken to heart...The children play with me!! Listenin to you, With you....dancin, spining... ahhhh's and ooo's...They feel it in their hearts today!.Pure JOY!!..I can hardly get enough of it!!! LOVE!!! Yea!!! I love this man and all he is...he's the beat of my heart. The breath I breathe. The Love of my life..<3 Doreen.

  • Meaningful.

  • Not a bad guy..Went back to his roots.I have never heard a song uttered from this man proposing ill harm to anyone. Please correct me if i am wrong.

  • @HuxleyBarada What about " I'm Gonna Get Me A Gun" ???

  • Will you crack the sky Scrapers fill the air. Will you keep on building higher till there's no more room up there. Will you make us laugh, will you make us cry. Will you tell us when to live, will you tell us when to die? These lyrics have yet to be matched. I wonder if they ever will. Peace. Saalem Alekum.

  • Let's face it. Religion, including Christianity, Judaism, and Islam have all been misused politically. Let's not demonize a religion which we know next to nothing about when ours has been responsible for atrocities against all peoples of color for millenia. It had a powerful enough message in equal proportions of love which drew this artist to it. Let's not judge others, that we may be judged harshly.

  • will you tell us when to live? will you tell us when to die?

    love this song, thanks, yusef

  • i wonder why such a good peaceful person adheres to the despickable religion, im surprised people can identify with islam when so much attrocities are being commited in his name.

  • @levellifemars Religion DOESN'T make the person!! He is love and peace incarnate and nobody can change that. I love the man for his music and his feelings!! He is GENUINE--surely you can see that!!?

  • @levellifemars so you never heard of the Ku Klux Klan? The Crusades? The Inquisition? No-one expects the Spanish Inquisition! These were all atrocities comitted in the name of, presumably, Your religion......

I doubt if he finds his religion despicable. He was the headmaster of a Muslim school in days gone by, and when Thatcher wanted to channel money to Religious schools (intending to Christian ones Only) he said "Thanks Very Mush". Probably only 0.00000000000000001% of Muslims are Terrorists.

  • Jerry Sandusky's favorite song

  • I love this song!

  • i respect him

  • I saw him in Atlanta during this 1976 tour, his last I believe?, ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC, I still love the music and admire the talent. One of the very few performers I would actually pay to see, I have all his albums.

  • An incredible poet for the ages. Left the limelight at the top pf his career and fame to find spirit. The man walks the talk.

  • @pusseytat amen

  • this man is a musical beast from the heavens.

  • I press like before listening. :)

  • What a man. I just love his style. He's not saying stop building skyscrapers, he's saying make sure you keep a place for the children in nature, or what have you. He's just so chill.

  • Salaam Aleikum!

  • I love this song !

  • PEDOBEAR APPROVED!

  • god only exists in your brains...

  • @takethatDeepPlz GOD is a 4 letter word!!(God is LOVE..)

  • I think he was more passionate about his music before he became a muslim. Nothing wrong with becoming muslim but I like his music better before!

  • @XonG1000 agree agree

  • Yusuf + Cat+ Harold and Maude = Priceless

  • he is so beautiful

  • His music leaves me speechless, touched, thoughtful. No one else comes close. I wish I could tell him about how his song, Home, changed my life and my family's life after a terrible tragedy. It wasn't just the lyrics. That song made it through dozens and dozens of others at a most extraordinary time. It was life altering. Sadly, he'll never know. I grew up with his music and somehow, I'm still growing up with it 35 years later. God bless you Yusuf.

  • its not complicated, work it out .

  • This man is an angel, with the voice of one. He could have had more women than you could shake a dead cat at, but he was looking for something spiritual, not superficial. His music is the soundtrack of my life. I'll always love him, and not just his outer beauty.

  • @1RainDawn He, like other islamic males, is waiting until he drops dead to enjoy his "40 virgins"

Who but adolescents and the mentally ill believe virgins to offer the acme of sexual pleasure?

    Love Cat, nonetheless.

  • @oysterjoe It's not 40 virgins, it's 72.

  • @brofranomo 72!!!! Sign me up.

  • even if i was born in 1976, i feel the same, his music makes part of the original band of my life, he makes me feel in peace, I' m in a quiet world when i listen him

  • @1RainDawn I SO agree with you!! He IS an angel. His music always makes me cry....I loved him then and will love him forever!!

  • ZOMG ZOMG CAT STEVENZ IZ TEH PEDOPHILES ZOOOOMGGGGG CALL THE POLICE HIDE YOUR CHILDZZZZ!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • If you think that things are bad now, you will not be prepared for the future. Be the best that you can be, and help others to the best of your ability, and your life would have been successful in all aspects, and you'll have no regrets. This man is not a Prophet, so don't follow him. He doesn't even know where he's going.

  • Shit happens. The one truth we can all count on. When shit stops happening, then you're really fucked. Till then, do the best you can, be better today than you were yesterday. We all make mistakes, we all do a lot right. Cat (Yussuf) deserves no less than we. Those who are without sin throw the first stone.

  • great song!! thanks for sharing

  • hello everybody i just stopped by this video to tell you that my youtube channel is an CAT STEVENS VIDEO ARCHIVE where i store ALL VIDEO FOOTAGE OF CAT STEVENS i have really really rare video's i think its worth checking out!

    Peace

    Sacha

  • J'ai le dvd Earth tour 1976,et bien d'autres disques 33 tours, tout simplement divin...

  • One interesting thing is that in an interview upon his return to music, he said he realised that his prior belief (that certain types of music and musical instruments were un-Islamic) was in error, an error that kept him away for nearly three decades. One decision made with the best of intentions can change your life. In Cat's case, he lost ~30 years of creating and playing music.

  • just simply great music..........and the hell with the bigotry....seems anything Muslim, Jewish/Israeli or American are the butt of offensive remarks.....but where are the children play?

  • Music Written & Played with Heart, Mind & Soul all in one place !

    Simply Beautiful.

  • briliiant quality for being recorded in 1976

  • God damn it ppl comments should be towards cat/ysafs music his music has nothing to do with religion it is great and peaceful so put ur comments on religion be it pagan hindu christian cathiolic wiccan buhdist islam or what the fuck ever elsewhere :) (sorrry for the ones i didnt mention)

  • @xarinja333 To be honest, you're wrong. When people post songs or any other thing on "You Tube" they open themselves up to all kinds of digressions and comments. It's called freedom of speech. Cat supported the assassination of Salmon Rushdie and that hurt him. That's the bottom line on this. In his defense, he did recant but unfortunately, a little late. My opinion, extreme beliefs in religion will destroy us all. Praying does nothing and will do nothing....ever.

  • @brofranomo: What hurt him was denouncing ALL HIS MUSIC, up until that point i think he had the world at his feet, and rightly so. He made a decision and it deprived the WORLD of his lovely talent for many years, I would almost go so far as to say it was selfish on his part to proclaim himself to be all of the sudden so insular. But, life goes on, we have youtube, and i still remember the 1st time i put the LP on and listened to Tea for the Tillerman, 28 years later i am hear listening to CAT..

  • @polmaccaba01 Hey, I still listen time to time. I also remember the first time I got an LP through "columbia" pay a penny deal. That was around 40 years ago for me.

  • no matter what you think of him, you took time out of your life to watch, listen, comment and hate. if someone hates what your doing then your doing it right.

  • @KRACKERJACK6913 you're a prick

  • 1976 . . . and what he's saying is even more pertinent now. I don't know if he meant to be prophetic, but his heart was definitely touching the pulse of humanity.

  • Classic! Saw Cat Stevens in Hawaii / early 1970's and he and band were awesome.

  • His music always takes me to the most peaceful places. Im 15 and hes my favorite muscician ever!

  • good life

  • Amazing!

  • If only. If only...If only then were now..and now and than. Were did things become so over complicated for greed and fame. For pain and power. Too greed and fantasy?!

  • wher did you go? i miss your music and messages!!!

  • Funny how a BP Oil ad pops up in this. Do they think we're stupid? Classic Cat. And his message is not lost.

  • I particularly love the extra beautiful notes here on the guitar...this is not like the final version we're all used to hearing...Oh, I so love this version...wish he'd do it like this again...:) Later!

  • @Helotes420 If you don't know what racism is then you are even more ignorant than i thought before...

  • @xXShaydyXx Everyone is equal, but not the chimps who have 99% of our genes, or the rats who have 90% of our genes - why are they not equal?

  • there are too much sionist here ,its only pure music here no politic

  • @Helotes420 lol nice racism and sexism there. Does that make you feel big?

  • WOW!

  • puuurrrfffeeecctt

  • pretty sad when such an artist with such convictional values in his music gets stopped "wow" for his true convictions in his heart by who? yea thats what i thought you said. and our constitution says protect? Im not anything but american ok? police state start! here comes the fbi key word fbi fyi fo!!!!!!!! lol

  • Yes, where do the children play.. it is worse for them now then when this song was written.. prophetic really.. Thank you so much..

  • Where indeed do the children play?

  • od i could listen to that guitar forever

  • clean guy, love him moust of all so good

  • Great classic song!

  • I love this but when I looked at the comments i wanted to throw up.

    peace,,,,peace

  • @Helotes420 and, one more thing, before I end this pointless talk we've been having over the last couple days. I can understand your opinions about religion, and I can understand your discontent with the ideals coming from them. But all I see is you spreading hate around. The world is the way it is because of diversity. If you can't tolerate diversity, then you are but another nameless contribution to war, strife, and the overall deterioration of Earth.

  • @Helotes420 nothing infuriates me more when people think they know what they are talking about, when obviously they don't. I'd tell you to read the quran so you'd get a better idea as to what you are trying to talk about, but your bias will only let you misinterpret everything that it says. I really feel sorry for you, because you automatically assume everything you are saying is correct, when you are indeed wrong about most everything you are saying. Peace be upon you, helotes. btw, im 28.

  • @Helotes420 u mad bro?

  • @Helotes420 Ah,so I have to live under Islamic law to be a muslim, yet Yusuf can freely in England, even though he is a muslim like me.

    Keep contradicting yourself, it's hilarious.

  • @Helotes420 so basically you are contradicting yourself by calling Yusuf a disease stricken muslim, regardless of where he lives, and me not a muslim, for not living in an islamic country. Guess what? Yusuf lives in England. Does he have to leave England to practice his religion? or are you going to keep making a fool of yourself by contradictions and insults that actually nullify themselves? Please keep going, this is quite funny, im amused.

  • @Helotes420 Did it ever occur to you that I am an american born citizen? And also, trying to bait me into a pissing match with you by getting personal will not work. As seen on this videos comments you do nothing but spit baseless accusations, false lies, and attack people for disagreeing with you. Stop living like a disgruntled prejudiced patriot. I see you've spent a good deal of time here arguing with people, just for the sake of arguing. I hope you find what you are looking for in life. bye.

  • permitted if we as a people are transgressed against, we do not openly seek conflict. ALSO, we will no longer continue our aggression if the transgressor ceases. Charity. Forgiveness. Self preservation. Honesty. These are all virtues of Islam, and if our religion bothers you that much, then that's too bad.

  • @Helotes420 Apparently you don't live in America lol. Here Muslims are persecuted because of the very small minority of us who completely misconstrue Jihad and it's ideals. Yusuf Islam is a very devout follower of what Islam is, and does not take God's work in his hands like the jihadists try to do. In fact, Christians follow a book altered by man. They believe in the trinity, God living through three entities, while Muslims believe that God is one being. We also believe that aggression is only

  • @Helotes420 What exactly is your problem with Yusuf Islam? He never claimed to want to kill Rushdie and if he did, please send me the video in which he did, or any proof whatsoever. As far as your views on organized religion go, I can agree with you on that idea of christianity. But the Quran is the true unchanged word, and it's what I believe in, and I'd appreciate it if you weren't so offensive when speaking about Islam. It appears that you like to spew out problems with no answers to fix them

  • insane talent. how can anyone not enjoy this?

  • He did not need the flying horse. He had the gift of reverie.

  • Music is the universal language, we all come together over a beautiful melody or inspired lyrics.

Religion ain't got nothin' to do with it!

  • I have been a big fan of Yusef since he began singing as Cat Stevens. He has a God-given talent, and I am happy to see that he has returned to his music. It's great to listen to meaningful songs.

  • @Helotes420 w.t.f. you on about cretin

  • beautiful, so much beautiful

  • Just have to add....This is how I remember Cat Stevens....Lively!!! Not restrained!!! Loved that about him as much as his music...You gotta feel him here!!! You can see joy all over his face! Love that! Excitement! :) Later!

  • This is the absolutely best performance of Where do the Children Play....So much spirit...love...energy..certainly feel his excitement for live!!! Love this!! :) Later!

  • Divine.

    Thank you, Yusuf.xox

  • I was a young child when I listened to him,he was about peace. You can't kid a kid,I still love those songs.

  • I just returned from Cats/Yusufs European Tour it was amazng and quite frankly as good as this Majikat Concert which I was at and so many of the Cats. His Essence is unchanged and he sounds amazing .. Really a loving soul and anyone who thinks otherwise is incorrect . Times change and we evolve . That is what life is for to grow xo peace xo Love this song!!!!! xo

  • @Helotes420 Ok now... good luck with your GED pursuit. And don't give up, an Associate degree is not such a far-fetched possibility if you stick to it.

  • @Helotes420 not really, I like Cat Stevens old music ... major difference !

  • @Helotes420 the only reason I keep replying to you is that today is Friday. Lots of people want Salmon Rushdie dead, including Iran's Ayatollah... and yes is stupid, many conventional forms of faith, as organized religions per say, have major discrepancies with their own theoretical teachings. Aside from that, Glee and NASCAR ? gay and redneck ? how many gay rednecks you know that like Cat Stevens ? You gotta do better than that, if you want a bit of my respect :-)

  • @Helotes420 let's then put down all "mentally disturbed" people or imprisoned them, right ? And I guess you've never said or done anything stupid; but in case you did, you're lucky that you're not that important so people will remember it. Frustration and lack of empathy makes "sane" people, much sicker than those who are really sick. The ability to forgo and forgive is what makes us humans, not the tit-for-that mentality. Btw, if you ever decide to run for president don't count on my vote.

  • that guitar is part of his body,,,,amazing

  • Allahu ekber!

  • beautiful :')

  • True Music comes from the heart and goes to the heart. You can't understand with the mind, it just does.

  • Soul to soul.

  • Every single human being has a talent or something beautiful. In Cat´s case is his ability to write music, love him for that and nothing else matters !

  • well, what ever more can be said about mr STEVENS ,he IS by definition:" far and above" one of a handful of SPARKLING BLINDINGLY BRILLIANT examples that this world rearly sees ,yet so soarly NEEEEDS... more of!! he makes us think and emote the way an ABE.LINCOLN,a KAL.GIBRAN and dare I say the way ,YES, the man himself,J.C.,once made us all,THINK/EMOTE! 4THIS I thank U MR STEVENS!!! you most definitely GET IT, in the way so many of 'us regular folk',DON'T.By the way mnyconservative/types,LV-C.S.

  • Cat Stevens, Yusuf Islam is the bomb. Does it really matter who how he worships? The man believes in writing soul inspiring songs and Im down with that.

  • I've always loved this song since I first heard it in the early 70's. I put a Canadian national park presentation together in the mid 70's with this as the soundtrack...$ are fine, but what do we do when the wild places are gone?

God bless the poets of the world. They keep us real.

  • one of my dads favourites rip xxx great song

  • Maybe just listen and learn....we all can... and maybe someday know

  • Obviously the best voice, performs with great passion and talent. always love, love,"the cat" Please dont take your music away again.........

    xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  • I've been enjoying Cat's music for the past 30 years-regardless of his personal choices.Yet, one can't just simply separate the man from his music. The beauty in his music gives him power over people. Just as his music sets an example for beauty, love & compassion, by association his actions gain the power to set an example too. This might be the reason for which he wisely retreated after he converted. He's responsible for what he does with that power-therefore judgement by public is inherent.

  • Please activate the option for mobile phones, so that this great song is also viewable on android mobile phones and especially on android tablet PCs (Youtube: "My uploaded videos - Edit - Broadcasting and Sharing Options - Syndication – Yes, make this video available on mobile phones and TV … - Save Changes").

  • @Terascon my htc android has youtube since ever!

  • Great song!!!

  • Where do the children play?

  • This is pure music, no flash, no fluff, pure art with a person and an instrument.

  • @JonathanJakarta very well said!

  • @donovanlover100 Thank you.

  • @JonathanJakarta

    It's totally fluff.

    He DOES fluff

    kids and love and fun

    fluff

that's why he is who he is.

    :D

  • @moussajinx This is a true artist that puts beautiful words to music. You're so full of crap!

  • @moussajinx no this is pure, emotion, joy and no marketing. This song has stood for over 25 years

  • @JonathanJakarta Indeed. Inspiring, as I am just now looking for my direction with my guitar and singing, and this is it. Just stay pure, write what you feel, play what you feel. No fluff, no flash. Make the words hurt so good.

  • Love this song!

  • he looks so happy! :)

  • the garden. the kingdom. heaven.

  • 2500 likers !

  • Comment removed

  • We all believe what we want. I can't let religion tell me what to like or dislike. As for the music....this man is greatly talented. I love the songs. As long as no one does harm...then it's all good. Peace to all

  • Oh god, hear his voice, the song, this is awesome!

  • aujourd'hui ce propos n'est plus a la mode dommage....
