Re Roxy – Here is what we know so far: First of all there is no synch and there are 3 fairly consistent camera angles and on that is pretty random. Everything visual that we have found so far has been transferred into HD. All audio elements (stereo mixes and multi-track masters) now live in the digital world. What we need now is a director/editor (and/or both) and a budget to produce the whole of it.

There is an astronomical amount of work to be done – conforming, synching, surround mix, general clean up and organizational stuff. All we have here is FZ’s stereo mix, but that’s it. Now we just need time and money. That and a few other value judgments based on what FZ actually saw are the reasons why he never made it a priority. The good news is we have a slightly different system of values and see it as a worthy artifact to keep pushing up the hill of possibility.

Stop releasing a lot of other things you have been doing for long time and do all fans a favour and show some respect to all devoted fans: Please release that DVD now! I was at the final show and it was damned good. The "Bebop Tango" was phenominal. But I think the record was worked over and dubbed a bit. Still one of the best Zappa shows I've seen. The one in the Pomona area where he recognized Ronnie(?) (one of the brothers from "Let's Make the Water Turn Black") in the audience was damned good also. He asked him up on stage to jam with them. Pretty funny.

I've heard from Joe Travers that the problem is the synchro between audio and video and It costs a lot becaue the original movie format is hard to work with

Bogus excuse, along with the excuse that the Roxy wants a ridiculous cut of the profits. I know the man who captured the audio on this performance, it was filmed with the intention of a movie being released, many cameras, TOP NOTCH audio. 10 years ago it would have been expensive to transfer from analog to digital, but not impossible, and it's much cheaper today. Zappa entered into one contract with venues; that he solely held rights to the performance capture, so the Roxy excuse doesn't wash.
