no offense but if everyone spayed and neutered their pets the species of cat and dog would be extinct. yes i agree, watching someone or an animal suffer and die is very very painful to us and the animals, but it is the way of life. we will all suffer at one point, we will die at another. but if everyone spayed and neutered their pets, housepets like dog and cat would no longer remain on the planet, all of them would be captured to sell.
i did not mean this in an offensive way, pls understand
Pet owners have no business breeding their pets. Breeders should be relatively rare professionals. Cats and dogs are not in any danger of going extinct. Encouraging every pet owner to spay or neuter their dogs and cats will not cause extinction, only control a population that has grown so large that thousands of lovable, adoptable animals are killed every day for want of homes.
There is absolutely no danger of that at this point in history. Absolutely no chance. Even with massive spay-neuter campaigns and programs the pets are still overpopulated. A lot more must be done to bring the population under control. Ideally at some point the number of pets being born would be in synch with the number of loving homes available for those pets.
The short answer is that nobody got their mothers spayed before I was able to do it.
Here's what happened to each kitten:
Smokepaw got hit by a car, which crushed her body. One eye was bugging out monstrously and half of her mouth on that side was crying pitifully. The other half of her body and face was completely immobile and stiff. She had to be put down because she was dying screaming in pain and was far beyond medical help.
The next time her mother, Blackie, had a litter outside, 3 other babies plus Cinder disappeared off the street and I don't know what happened to them. I have reason to believe Cinder was also killed by a car. I think the other 3 brothers and sisters might have been killed by a neighbor. Only one cat from that litter survived (Smokey).
The other two kittens that died were Graykit and Baby. They were Whitenose's kittens. Graykit most likely died when a car started when he or she was on top of an engine. All the kittens from that litter were crawling up in people's cars.
Baby I rescued and brought inside but she had a deadly infection and despite an attempt to save her by my veterenarian, she died while having seizures. Whitenose's other three babies I was able to rescue and bring inside before anything bad happened to them. Blackie and Whitenose are now spayed, and so is Smokey.
Tiger, Casey, and Serena are alive and well. These are the other kittens. There were two cats from the same litter that died. Their names were Graykit and Baby. The other kittens that died were Blackie's babies.
