  • dear Quandoman, i dont know what way is better and effective, how to understand it. There are martial arts (kung fu, karate, etc) and combat sports (muay thai etc) - sports are strong and people say that sportmen are better because they have more fights so that they can check themselves... It's hard to check fight of martial artist because if he uses it - can damage a lot more that guys in the ring. So whos better: martial arist without practical fights VS combat sportman with practice on ring?

  • @bogusiek whoever trains more

  • @bogusiek If you make that comparison, no doubt it'd go to the combat sportman because he actually spars and is able to apply what he learned against a resisting opponent. The reason most people think that kung fu is ineffective is because the practitioners themselves don't really spar or practice the applications. However, if a kung fu practitioner trains properly(forms, drills, and spar) and knows how to fully apply it, then he is just as good as the mma fighter. This is my humble opinion. =)

  • i've been studying hung gar after reading sifu bucksam kong's books in the 80's, and after years of practice, i still feel i need to learn more. after seeing the quandao man teach the gung gee, i see all of his sifu in him. i count sifu kong as my sifu although i never learned directly from him, he has been my inspirartion and light on my journey. good video, good form

  • Studded belt and studded wrist bands worn whilst teaching? ... oh dear, not a good sign that. :( Too many late night 70's kung fu movies is my guess. :(

  • big fat creepy black guy doing kung fu......now ive seen it all.

  • This guy is tight. Do you have any free sparring videos?

  • @jeffdoeskungfu Yes, I do have some free style fighting.Let me explain something.Figthing is unpredictable,u must understand how to read your apponent.

But,without basic fundemental ie,stance, foot work, basic blocking ,u will not be able to deal with an opponent. These techniques are drills to train your brain computer. There are many variations ,u have to play with the techniques until they become sec. nature. Then u will be able to spare free style. detect your opponents intent.

  • LOL

  • stupid. any fighting stile that stops a kick with his\hes arms it`s stupid

  • @octa12345678 I suppouse you should block it with your head. or even better maybe your genetals.

  • I am a beginer of Hung Kuen and I am very impressed by this video! I am now learning Gung Gee Fook Fu and actually I felt quite frustated to learn the technique as I found them hardly practical.

But this video changes my mind! what I am practicing is actually useful.

    中國武功真利害。

  • There is a Choy Li Fut version of this form. But it looks much different.

  • If he's good enough, it shouldn't matter what colour he is.

    It's all about dedications.

  • @sanshou822 That comment makes you sound ignorant and bigoted.

  • he has more than likely put in far more time than you have, troll.

  • and the kame hame haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

  • You know Hung Gar is from shaolin right? In fact its only called Hung Gar due to the fact the temple was burned down and to associate anything with the Shaolin Temple was Illegal originally it was to be called Shaolin Fist.

  • @clfguardian Yes in fact, southern shaolin fujian province and also from guang dong province. It was contribution of head monk Jee seen seem see. Hung kuen was getting started under his top desciple hung hei goon and carried by Luk ah choy, his desciple, hung keun got its start. Hung keun means "hung fist". Hung gar mean "Family of Hung". Q.2 ILLEGAL?!?!?!? NO!!!!!!! No to the revolutionaries but yes to the Chings.

  • @clfguardian Q.3 Shaolin illegal?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Yess!!!! But to the Chings... NOOOO!!!! With the Ming revolutionaries.Q.4 Yes it is Shaolin Fist!!!!!!!!!!!! Beacuase Jee seen seem si traveled to Fujian province with Northern Shaolin concepts. Then he lived in Fujian province until the temple was burnt. Then Sourthern Shaolin started the Saholin fist name is in inclusive beacuase it is the shaolin art... Being honorable and traditional with virtue of the Shaolin temple called Shaolin Fist!

  • Good one

  • gung fook fu means taming the tiger and its the main focaus in hang gar

  • This is just the kind of applications im looking for !

  • Nice Breakdown of movements and application

    Jehovah Bless. Jd

  • i love to see a reel demonstrations off hung gar applications.ihopedo this everyday

  • these techniques do work, i know the full gung gee form and i love the techniques because they are so practical. but i still more impressed with a smaller sifu making the technique work, rather then a giant using his strength. though im sure he makes it work for him very well. he looks quite agile for a big man.

  • @xoenhit Obviously, you are thinking from a small mans perspective. Your statement makes you sound fatuous.Size ,strength, intellect, and coordination will almost all ways dominate a smaller person.

To master that which is most difficult to master is to achieve that which is most difficult to achieve .This maxum doesn't speak of ones size, but reither one's ability to meet the challenge.Don't be so small minded.

  • An old prophecy: That which was held in secret, shall be revealed. That secret knowledge will be shouted from the roof tops.

  • There's nothing secret about the form really. You just have to look at what the moves imply.

  • Yes nothing secret... imply??? Do u know what imply means? We all need to practice!!! Even the masters practice to their last breath.

  • Thank you for posting, I always enjoy watching peoples applications of technique. I've noticed some people use double hammers as an upward thrusting blow, or even a combo of both up then strike down. You know your with a good style when just your salute is devasatingly powerful!

  • very clear and simple instructions would really help those who are looking to learn well done keep up the good work.

  • Holy shits, how big is the Black/American Sifu Hamby, his Ht and weight..his guy dont need any Kung fu at all, but is good to see big men enjoy the art of Hung Ga..power and muscle style

  • Very good video Sifu. What are you wearing on your hands. are these weights?

  • Thanks for your comment. Oh,they are wrist braclets

  • Now this is what I like to see. I love to see good demonstrations of Kungfu/Wushu applications.

  • Thanks for your comment

  • Who is the older man? Is it Lam Jo?

  • Comment removed

  • No it's Fred Lee, who studied under Lam Jo and Lam Chun. He teaches in Los Angeles today.

  • @Outermainstream he is sifu fred lee. he currently teaches in los angeles today

  • @Squuirt

I found out already sometime ago lol. Thanks though.

  • Thanks for your kind comment.

  • This is so so gung fu, poor range, poor texture, low to medium skill sifu, obsessed with technique and not that which is in its most complete sense. Pretty sure he is sincere..once past the costumes, music and set....not good sorry.

  • If you have nothing good to say then keep you

comments to youself. You don't know what you'll looking at anyway. You are not qualified to judge me or what I'm demonstrating. Show me what you'll working with.Yah,as I figured nothing! you'll just another ignorant hater mad because you can't represent. Show yourself little man.

  • Show me wat u gotto. What did u study? how long have u studied 1 year? 10 years? 40 ?or are u THE GREAT MASTER???Wat u gotto? Why dont u show urself to the WORLD!!!THANK U

  • Excelent!, very good.

  • Thanks for your kind comment

  • Skill is skill! Martial Arts were developed so the little person had a chance. Assumptions about Sifu's skill being based on size is not only an insult to Sifu, but Sifu's teachers and Sifu's teachers teacher and etcetera etcetera! Everybody talks about David and Goliath, but nobody really wants to be David? Skill and technique are skill and technique

  • Very well said big brother

  • Excellent work! Xie Xie Sifu!

  • Thanks for your compliment

  • I thought Sifu Donald Humby was a Sifu for Hung Gar :S

  • wow his a big guy imagon fightin him lmao

  • That Sifu is realy big :P

  • using 40 diffrent types of blocks for attacks is a recipe for disaster.

  • It is quite obvious you are a beginner for you lack understanding. These defensive techniques are variations of counters a method to broden one's mind. This is what Gung Fu is about.Seek more knowledge and understanding young man.

  • hehe i'll be doing this form in this guys tornament on the 15th!

  • RE-THINK YOUR APPLICATIONS the form is the ABC'S to write you have to pull out letter in random to make words. Its the same with kung fu instead of writing with gaps join the letters. UNDERSTAND

  • Hello Mark, ten circumference of one's knowledge represent the diameter of on's understanding.Don't be so pompous. These are just variation.UNDERSTAND

  • they might be just variations but maybe its time to turn that coin over and look on the other side.Your a big guy who's very strong and that means 80% of the people stand no chance with you however if you don't mind me saying your full potential could be a lot more.just rethink some things

  • hangin hammer is the shit!!!!!!

  • Sifu does jason gour still train with you?

  • Sifu Hamby your Hung Gar Gung Fu is very impressive.

  • Thank you
