it was not in live or a little baby when the R5 GT Turbo and the 205 GTi 1.9L dominated the World of GTi in the 80's and the 90's (the 205 Gti 1.9L was my car in the beggining of the 90's, a very nice souvenir of course :-) )

Quick and fun to drive, but definitely one of those cars you needed to sort all the design faults out on before it became usable. Overheating, head gaskets, refusal to start or tick over properly when hot. Most of it could be sorted with aftermarket parts, but the 80's French build quality and electrics couldn't unfortunately. Still a classic though.

phase 1 110bhp 0-60 7.1 secs. phase 2 115 bhp 0-60 7.3 as far as im aware. ive had 2 pse2's (still got one) but neither were a patch on my phase 1, that was a damn fast car.

The Renault 5 gt turba was a gourges hot hatch and fast but gave a bit trouble with the turbo, but i love the car.
