Firearms sold in CIP countries (Germany, France, Austria ...) must be individually proofed at a CIP prood house. Each member state hase one or multiple proof houses.
Proofing is done by shooting overpressure (+30%) proofing cartridges. Each gun is then inspected. If it passes the test, tamps are added on various parts (barrel, slide, bolt, frame ...) depending on the type of firearm. The "NP" mark for example certifies the firearm is safe for smokeless powder ammo ...

Nice shooting I got a glock17 its great but sometimes I get casings hit me in the face the extract looks fine but I think I got a lemon I'm going to tray it for a glock19 maybe ill get some luck
I noticed there is a small click just before each round fires. Is that a feature of the trigger? It sounded like a pre-click just before the trigger broke.
By the way, I haven't watched many of these close-up videos. I'm gonna start. :)
LOVE your videos iv seen a lot of them today i picked up a g-19 i did have a 17 but found it to be a little big for CCW thats why i got the 19 (nice feel) keep up the cool videos...
Great video, funny enough down here all the Glock pistols sold at the fun shop are Austrian proofed. The rare one's are the ones that have the Smyrna markings. A friend has a Glock 17 with the Smyrna markings and he loves to show it off!
hey hickock, I just bought a glock just because of your videos, I need to get used to it because I usually shoot my 1911 or my revolver. I got the 19c. what do you think about the compensated models? are they any good?happy new year from Rome,Italy
dda .40 cal is not much larger than the 9mm...get a 9mm u save a lil cash on rounds and there are soo many multipurpose app ammo out there and in the end its all about shit placement...but 9mm u can get some pretty deadly ass rounds...like hornady xtp jhp 9mm and hornady critical defense ftx's also jhp..hope this was helpful
Santa came early this year Hickok! Picked up a Glock 19C from Buds in Lexington today. Thanks for youR insight and videos showing what these guns are capable of. Your interest, devotion, and love of firearms help us all immensely. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE AT THE COMPOUND!
I live in Switzerland and I've got the same marks. If you want to use your Glock 19 in official Swiss competition shooting you also need the Swiss proof stamps. You have to send your gun in and they charge you an extra $80 to proof-shoot it.
greetings from the philippines!! id like to ask if my glock 22 is really from austria since i dont see a 'made in austria' on the frame?? is my frame made in the US and the slide made in austria? i bought it last year 2009 feb..
ive got a gen 1 glock17 with the austrian proof marks and the nitro proof marks. ive had it since around 1991. as to the steel front sight, mine were plastic. i replaced them with steel ones. i remember back then, everyone picked on me for having a plastic gun, now they all have glocks too.
"Ges.m.b.H." ("society with limited liablilty") is a legal term describing a company where the liabilities are limited to the companie's assets (and not the private property of the owner(s) or such), it is not in the exchange market (no stocks), for in that case it would be an "AG" (Aktiengesellschaft) and it is a form of company typical for small businesses, grocery stores and such for example are usually a Ges.m.b.H. Medium siced corp.s are "KG"s or "KEG"s, the big ones are usually "AG"s.
Can't thank you enough for taking the time to video all your shooting, advice, and stories about Glocks (and other firearms). I love watching you shoot and value your opinions.
rly nice vid, I am from Austria (Vienna) and just for your information "Glock Gesmbh" has the meaning of "Glock ltd", it is the abbreviation for "gesellschaft mit beschränkter haftung" -> company with limited liability :)
Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung. Translates to "Company with limited liability." In Austria, this is often GesmbH, although this abbreviation is not used in Germany or Switzerland. In Austria, there must be at least two founding shareholders of a GmbH. Minimum share capital is ATS 500,000, and at least half of this must be raised in cash. Minimum par value is ATS 1,000 per share. No citizenship or residence requirement for shareholders exists, and shareholders can be other companies.
I just picked up this same Austrian proofed pistol in a trade this morning. I did not notice it at the shop, but the front sight is steel. Did this pistol come with the same?
@hickok45 your the man hickok. wish my dad was you. I would like to come shoot sometime with you. do you own all that land? any neighbors? haha they must love you.
I can tell by your shooting that you aren't letting the trigger out all the way but up until the trigger resets.. I have been doing that a lot lately at the range and it appears to help a lot.
From what i am hearing in the video, you have a good follow through, by holding the triggrer down for a tiny bit longer after you fired the shot, then you release it back then pull again for the next shot :D
Love all your videos...and I'm a Big Orange guy but can't reside due to job in my beloved TN. Thanks for all the great videos. Will you comment on the type of holster your carry the 26 in?
hickok could you do a video comparison of .40 and 9mm, specifically the 19 and 23? There is so much debate between those two calibers and I am in the process of choosing one.
@kyle87t You can't go wrong with either. Consider joining the GSSF and shooting in a Glock Match. As a benefit of membership, you can purchase one gun a year at the law enforcement price. 40's cost 40% more and make extended shooting sessions a bit pricey.
I'm a liberal who will soon be exercising my amendment rights by purchasing my first firearm. I'm in California and currently interested, well VERY interested in purchasing a Glock 19 after shooting a 17 and 26 at the range.
Is there a cheap place to get a Glock in this state? Turners has one but it's $600 but I feel I can find one for cheaper somewhere else.
Do you carry with one in the chamber or with an empty chamber. The safety kind of scares me a bit, but this will be my next purchase once I catch my breath after just purchasing a Kimber Custom 2.
if only England had gun laws like the US! A glock 19 would be the first thing i'd buy!!...great vid's mate...i've worked my way through the lot and found them all to be very very good...think you should move onto assault rifles next!...then anti tank weapons!haha..that would be fun! haha
@hickok45 - my personal favorite Glock, and 9mm overall. Can't say enough about how well mine has served me on the range and as a daily carry gun. I'd have to estimate I'm up to about 8000 rounds through it, and nary a jam. Good to hear some info about the proof marks on the Austrian models. Great videos, keep it up!
thanks for another G19 video hickok! I just put a down payment on my first G19 yesterday and look forward to shooting it. It just feels great in my hand like it was designed for it, never fired one yet but looks like real smooth action with almost no recoil. Its a great size for CCW as well.
i had that gun and i had the extended clip but i traded it in today and got a smith and wesson .38 special with the hammer. but yea my glock shot really good and i would recommend it 4 concelled weapon carry. i would use some hollowpoints for the best protection
Ges. m. b. H. or GmbH in Germany (Gesellschaft mit beschraenkter Haftung) corresponds to the english Ltd. It limits the company owners liability. You can sue the company but not the owners just like you can sue Ruger but not Ruger's CEO.
Glocks assembled for the european market don't have proof marks on top of the barrel. They are located near the barrel's serial number, on the side.
Otherwise, they look exactly as yours!
"GesmbH" marking means "Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung" or "company with limited liability" which is a type of legal entity very common in Austria.
I have medium sized hands and find the G19 to be very comfortable. Accurate! A novice shooter can get some really nice groups. I give it 5 stars for reliabilty, value, concealment, ergonomics, and design. Not only does NYPD use it, but also USAF pilots, Iraq Security forces, the Icelandic National Police and numerous military and LE agencies all over the world.
Another great vid by Hickok45! Always with the great vids! Keep 'em coming!
The first gun I owned was a Glock 19. I still shoot it every chance I get. In over 5000 rounds I have had only one stove pipe.
My older brother has never strayed from owning American firearms, until he met my Glock 19. Within a month he purchased his own and uses it as his primary carry weapon. He trained his wife how to use it. I have been showing my girlfriend how to use it. It's extremely comfortable to maintain and operate. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice 9mm.
I bought a couple 19's last spring, mine have all the Austrian proof marks as well, But I don't think they are any better than one without the proof marks.
Hey hickok love your videos, i am not into pistol shooting but i am looking into it, what do you recomend for a target pistol (not necessarily a glock but the glock price range).
As a glock 19 owner I can tell you first hand that everything wonderful hickok says about it is true. Great piece of hardware, very little recoil and perfect size... I would recommend this gun to anyone looking to buy a glock
9mm's don't kick very hard at all BUT, for a kid of 12 yrs of age who hasnt fired a pistol b4, I'd suggest starting with a .22 just for training purposes. Just a personal oppinion though.
Yep, I was getting ready to "machine gun" it. Somebody's got to teach you how to flinch well! If one is going to flinch, he might as well see it demonstrated properly. :-)
Love it. After alot of research this one is the one I've been saving up for. About 3/4 there already. It will be my first handgun and possible ccw but definently home defense. Thanks to hickok45 and Nutnfancy. Thanks again....

the stock slide release is flush and flat which can be hard for some people to actuate.
Jsimp0487 2 years ago
If you use a glock 19 for ccw that might not be the best idea.
Verator 2 years ago
I know lot's of people who carry it for ccw including my self. I love it!!!!!!!

Verator 2 years ago

I bought a couple 19's last spring, mine have all the Austrian proof marks as well, But I don't think they are any better than one without the proof marks.

Hey hickok love your videos, i am not into pistol shooting but i am looking into it, what do you recomend for a target pistol (not necessarily a glock but the glock price range).
Thanks!
Sochill247 2 years ago
As a glock 19 owner I can tell you first hand that everything wonderful hickok says about it is true. Great piece of hardware, very little recoil and perfect size... I would recommend this gun to anyone looking to buy a glock

Another pumpkin bites the dust! Thanks for showing off the Glock 19. I've only fired the Glock 23 before, but I'd like to try this one.

Great Video.
The first gun I have ever shot was a Glock 19 last week. Very very smooth accurate pistol. Minimal recoil and perfect fit for my hand size.
I didnt like how the 26 had my pinky hanging off, and this 17 was pretty large. 19 was perfect. Gonna make a purchase for one really soon.

So with the proof marks, does that mean it could be a collectors gun?
Ralastar 2 years ago
Could be, but as I say in the video, I don't think it's unusual enough to be considered that much of a collectible.
hickok45 2 years ago
Nice video Hickok! If you have time you should make a gun collection video.

could a 12 year old shoot it or will it kick to hard because i was thinking about getting one
thanks
dodgehemi997 2 years ago
9mm's don't kick very hard at all BUT, for a kid of 12 yrs of age who hasnt fired a pistol b4, I'd suggest starting with a .22 just for training purposes. Just a personal oppinion though.

Thanks for the vid!
I'm not sure it was a flinch as much as an anticipation of good things to come. :)

Hickok I think I saw a flinch at 8:10!!!! Say it aint so!!
Buffalowdown 2 years ago
Yep, I was getting ready to "machine gun" it. Somebody's got to teach you how to flinch well! If one is going to flinch, he might as well see it demonstrated properly. :-)
hickok45 2 years ago
The 19 is a bit smaller all around the the 17. Check the Glock homepage for more specific details.

What is the difference between a Glock 17 and Glock 19? I have an old Glock 17, but I cannot see any difference between this two Glock models.
They are both in 9mm Para, aren´t they? Do they have different dimensions or barrel length or what?
ganimed1976 2 years ago
Take a ganders at the Glock website, ganimed1976. Specs galore. Glock 17 is full frame 9mm. Glock 19 is "compact" 9mm.
Buffalowdown 2 years ago
The Glock 19 is shorter in length.

I bought a Glock 19 about a year ago and very happy with it. Simple and easy is the way to go.

The 1911 is a historical classic but the Glock 19 is a modern day classic.
