  • Great Song, classic feel

  • HI

    The guitar player?

Who is he? Really wonderful! Can someone please tell me what type of guitar that is? What model? It "looks" so big and cool!!

    Thanks

  • @greatvideosABC Mark Whitfield. I don't know anything about the guitar itself, but he can make it sing. Really nice guy... he took Chris' picture with me once in an airport in SLC. :)

  • @greatvideosABC It looks like a Zimnicki guitar--bad ass custom made. That is if I'm correct--not sure. Pause it at 2:55 and try to read the brand on top.

  • @greatvideosABC The guitarist is Mark Whitfield, and he plays a Marcchione jazz guitar. Chris Botti has a harmon mute in his trumpet.

  • @greatvideosABC thats Marchione guitar

  • @greatvideosABC ACME

  • @greatvideosABC It's a Marchione 16" archtop guitar.

  • In my opinion he played it better in Warsaw. Totally owned it.

  • Крис, мы тебя ждём в Одессе ещё и ещё раз !Я влюбилась в твою игру !

  • love the guitar part

  • Can someone please tell me...

What is that silver round object attached to the mouth of the trumpet called? And what are its main functions?

  • @TheRc0211 It's a Harmon Mute. Jazz standard, it gives the trumpet a 'wah wah' sound when used. Chris' own music compositions like 'Venice' are copyrighted 'Muted Music'. :) It's a standard with him, and creates a wonderful sound on Hallelujah.

  • @DougWilliams

Thank you very much, the mute really gives it a distinctive sound

  • i think he is the most wonderfull musician in the world when he was in georgia he played uncommonly and i hope he will came back

  • 3 people aren't going to heaven...

  • perfect.

  • I bought the dvd from his concert in Boston. One word.... "Brilliant"

  • <3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @crowderfan10 no, it is most definitely and famously attributed to and written by L.Cohen.

  • this brings tears to my eyes so beautiful

  • Those growls are so perfect.

  • @crowderfan10 ...Singer Rufus Wainwright had briefly met Jeff Buckley and was struck by the singer, recording a tribute to him after his 1997 death. That song, "Memphis Skyline", referenced Buckley's version of "Hallelujah", which Wainwright would later record, though using piano and a similar arrangement to Cale's. Wainwright's version was featured on the album Shrek: Music from the Original Motion Picture, although it was Cale's version that was used in the film itself.[9]

  • @crowderfan10 From Wikipedia: "Hallelujah" is a song written by Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen, originally released on his studio album Various Positions (1984). Achieving little initial success, the song found greater popular acclaim through a cover by John Cale, which later formed the basis for a cover by Jeff Buckley. In recent years several cover versions have been performed by a large number and broad range of artists, both in recordings and in concert.

  • Heard this Saturday in St. Louis. Huge crowd too!

  • is it a dream,,,??

  • the note at 2:25 gets me every time.

  • @QueenBeatlesWings

I agree, it does have a different style of jazz. I think it's the style of Chris botti(: because he didn't play but 2 or 3 of his own songs in this concert. The best example is "Flaminco Sketches" by: miles Davis. Though it still has the same notes Chris botti makes it sound different. I don't know how he does it, but he has some serious talent.

  • THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG EVER!!!!!! SIMPLY B E A U T I F U L !!!!

  • I love the way the guitar echos throughout the concert hall. Just beautiful, I get chills. My friend dosen't like jazz music and I just don't see her side of it.....I think that there is nothing better. This song is a great example. Originally it isn't a jazz song. But put into this format it is better than the original. I love my friend for who she is but I just cant let go of my love for jazz, or chris botti. (:

  • @ecsisof3 I don't like alot of Jazz either, but I like this album/concert Chris Botti did as its a different style of jazz. It depends how good the players/singers are and how they play. This is peaceful, simple, yet has a unique style to it making it less like hard fast more modern jazz more like orchestral music or a ballad

  • awesome! fell in love

  • It's amazing how three chords can take you to the different world. This song should last 15 minutes. At least.

  • i love chris just got his album i play trumpet

  • Comment removed

  • love it

  • one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. the dynamics of the song, the phrasing.. it's perfect

  • Amazing

  • perfect... no more to say!!

  • Brilliant. Leonard, Jeff and now Chris. So mellow, so peaceful, so, so, intimate.

  • when i listen to this.........all my troubles and fears go away. for those few minutes I'm lost in a sea of serenading notes. its just me and the music surrounding me.

Its true, the simple things are the best things in life.

Thank you for sharing this :)

  • GOOSE BUMPS

  • My dad plays the trumpet so I LOVE listening to ANYTHING Chris Botti plays, but this was ESPECIALLY enjoyable!

  • Beautifull! just beautiful - Leonard Cohen would approve !

  • this clearly demonstrates the inherent beauty in simplicty. beautiful, beautiful playing by both chris and mark. my only gripe is, i wish they played another 5 minutes!!

  • The guitarist is Mark Whitfield.

  • i get goosebumps during this version of this song.

    it is beyond brilliant!

  • On the one hand, I want to hear Botti solo - the film noir smoke in his horn is the stuff of dreams; on the other hand, he is the master at melding his sound with others.

    And this guitarist is smooth.

    Who is he?

  • R.I.P...Jeff Buckley

  • great performance of the song, brilliant concert, i have seen Chris Botti last year in Newport jazz fest, and the heart is still vibrating ;) by the way, HELLO FROM SLOVAKIA :)

  • I just love that guitar. the trumpet is just the perfect touch. this song is so simple, yet so beautiful

  • I get tears in my eyes, if I listen to this number, its so good...it is so perfection. Mr. Chris Botti knows where the soul of music is.

    Rachid Mezroui From Holland,

  • Chris Botti is the man!!!

  • so much like it <3

  • BRILJANT!!!!!!

  • That's what everyone should aim to sound like. Playing high is cool, but not if you can't do it in tune and with a good, clean, full pitch. This is how a trumpet should sound.

  • It's simple........... and simply amazing

  • @Rocklobsterport just what i said, but didnt notice :)

  • Happy New Year !!!
