Hi, Other than the jet boil, Whisperlite, Pocket Rocket, and the Crux here, Does anyone know of other recomended stoves I could buy, I have a budget of less than 100 dollars, (U.S). Which Is why I was kind weary of the jetboil, I liked at the demo at Bass Pro Shops, But its kina pricey. Please Message or comment if you know of any good stoves. Thank you.
i think the jetboil is better because the whole point is its a self contained mini stove. if you need a lighter and all you have is this and maybe fire steel your screwed.
I think it would be foolish to not have a lighter with you in the wilderness. If worse came to worse, you could use the firesteel to make a fire, then use the fire to light the stove. The jetboil also weighs 5 times as much as the crux and is not nearly as compact. Just my opinion.
light it with the fire steel,i do it all the time, one spark even on the primus multi fuel ,i dont bother with a lighter, even though i carry one in the kit.
jetboils are good ive used one but they are mahoosive, they take up an entire utility pouch not including the gas. If your in the light role its not worth it.
Nice little stove! If it had a piezo igniter it would be perfect (as a non-smoker I dont' carry lighters). A suggestion would be to wrap a wipe cloth around it to deaden clunking and cushion any rubbing in the pot or against the canister and it would aid if having to move out quickly with the stove still hot. Regards.
Great Video was wondering how that guy set up. Thanks

Hi. What is that cookset used in the video? That pot with so nicely fitting lid, that the Crux and a gas cartridge so snuggly fit? TIA

Hi Tia
The pot used is the Letech Trek Kettle.
Cheers

Works great for, say...cooking a pot of stew, but how would it work for cooking a slab of meat?

If it's red hot, the last thing i'm going to do is shut the prongs with my lighter :)
Other than that, nice review, nice stove :)
