  • Worst port, until GBA.

  • i thought it was pronounced I.D. not id

  • Doom for snes has the second worst music among tye doom ports but it's still awsome the only bad doom music you will ever hear is the fart noices that comes out of the 32x

  • in short doom on snes feels so fake, like when you shooting on enemy,s you only hear hooaaah-hooaah and it takes less shots to kill them.

+ you can,t shoot and kill 2 enemy's atonce + their psysics sucks and they allready shooting on you from the distance.

there,re no textures on flours & ceilings wich is a big dissappointment, since this version also had an improved superfx chip.

if they had waited for the st0018 nec 810 32bit chip used in 1 snes game.

doom on snes would,ve be perfect!!!

  • Hey, buddy. Did you know that this version of Doom doesn't use the Doom engine? Also, what the hell is "straf"?

  • @iniche strafe means to move side to side like dodging in a FPS.

  • @PuertoRicanfjr12 I know what STRAFE is. I mean this nut is pronouncing it straf.

  • It really sucks you don't make videos anymore.

  • I like very few ports of doom

I hate the 32x version and the snes version and I say they both get a 4/10 in my book for different things.

    nice review though

how do you capture game footage (I use a dazzle dvc but I just wanted to ask).

  • Why would you have to do any research to see if the game used the SuperFX Chip? Just look at the cartridge connectors and see if there are any extras on it, like DOOM has.

  • One other note that NO ONE seems to remember that the actual cart version of doom for SNES has control delay. Emulators don't have that problem, so the SNES version is the worst version possible. The 32x version may have had crappy music but it at least played full speed, had clearer visuals and controlled well. That's far more than the SNES version can claim. Seriously I don't get Nintendo fanboys, they STILL defend this game. Get the PC version and forget the damn port already.

  • these are the probably the worst ports (along with the 32x saturn and 3do versions of doom) although given the hardware there running on, its damm good.

i agree with every comment you made about it.

but even this pathetic poor version of doom and wolfenstein there is still a damm good game, and still 2 of the best releases on the snes.

i still sometime digg my old snes out for a game or 2 but the best consule to enjoy these 2 games on is the Atari Jaguar

  • amezingly enough wolf 3d just runs smooth on snes in full screen size with no bugs at all,and that all without a super fx chip.

whereass snes doom despites it has a superfx2 chip on board, it runs averagely slow, runs in a small window screen size and has alot of flaws.

  • Don't hate on avgn

  • doom on the pc has 36 levels

  • the funny part about wolfenstein snes is that they redrew the sprites and made it look better.

  • 4:57 lol cacodemon looks funny

  • how come u have no views? u have like the most entertaining reviews

  • doom is okay castle wolfenstine is great doom 7/10 wolfenstine 9/10

  • The giant rats in wolfenstein snes makes the game look like DOOM.

  • Just thought you would like to know... when this game was released the FX chip was not made.

    Thats the main reason,

If you think this is a butchered version of the game look at bible storys. ID sold the rights to wolfenstine as a joke..

  • AVGN pwns

  • Doom in my opinion had great music, and decent level design. I'm not bothered by the lack of save feature, yeah it was on PC, but since it's age, I'd let it slide. Yeah the graphics are awful, with more work on the FX chip 2, it could've looked better and yeah the control sucks. Dodging is a pain in the ass. I probably would've given this a 6/10.

  • yeah, you`re right. but it was great if you don`t got a PC at the Time it was released. Smooth enough to make you enjoy the "Doom-Experience". ;) It doesn`t look sooo bad if you just keep in mind that it`s a 16 Bit console you`re playing this on.

  • I actually think DOOM on SNES has good music. Not better than PC or 3DO but still pretty good.

  • I'm surprised they didn't call "Super Doom"

  • @samscuba1104 32x version should have been called out dooms ass!!

  • @samscuba1104 When they were working on SNES Doom they were calling it Doom 3 at least in EGM vol. 71 cover and article. Considering the understandable downgrade in grafx, I've always found that pretty funny. On a personal side note, I find this port impressive. It's freaking 16bit Doom people! That's awesome.

  • Straff? It's strafe.

  • I had my first playing of these both games with these versions and I respect them both a lot... I could agree you with the Wolfenstein 3D thing, because it got all the nazi references removed, but it's still fun. For Doom, I disagree... it's called challenge, I mean, I found it great that you couldn't save or input passwords, the level structure is superior to any other port including the PSX port (XBox out because is an almost exact port from the PC version) and the music is great. 1 star.

  • We only rented DOOM for SNES when it came out because it had a Red Cartridge! Beyond that, it sucked!

WOLF3D on PC forever!! The sound is even F-ed up on the WOLF3d PS3 Version!!
