That sounds better than any other version. What's with the Capo? I thought it was on open E. You also have a fantastic guitar and amp sound. Great playing mate!
What's with the capo? G strings are meant to be tuned to G not G#. A strings are meant to be tuned to A not B. Just saving my strings. Open D with capo on 2 = open E
@modfather1965 yeah its a jc-120. i don't know anything about about the fender ultra chorus, but if this is the kind of sound you are going for i recommend finding a jc-120 from the 80's. i don't know what it is, but they just sound better to me. you have to watch the treble though... it can peel paint depending on the guitar or pickup you're using.
thanks....so what exactly wasn't right in the pre-chorus? if i nailed anything, it would be that, as half the people on here play it in a position that doesn't allow pitches to sustain. there are also about 3 or 4 other guitars interlocking through the whole song on the original recording, so if something sounds sparce on my vid, that's why.
This is really terrific. You totally nailed the finger picking parts, the sound, timing, everything. The only thing I would change is maybe add some more solid sounding, punchy chords (as opposed to open chords) around the verses where you'de sing "spineless swines cemented minds...up to "down the nape of my neck". By the time it gets into "I wanna go home" , you definitely bring it home!
Hope you are not offended by these comments 'cause I think you did an awesome job with this.
I guess I agree. ...It's an open tuning so... everything is gonna ring a bit more and you're limited to how many different ways you can effectively play certain chords. At least that's how I feel....... I guess what I'm really TRYING to say is when you're reducing about 4 guitar parts into one, something has to go..... but thanks for the comment.
Yeah...you are right. I guess if you had the advantage of multiple guitar layers (like a Smiths record), or if you had the backing of Craig Gannon and Andy, you'de have all the umph in the world. I guess I didn't consider that when I commented - sorry. Still, as a stand alone guitar playing a complicated song, you made it sound really close to a Smiths record.

Great job, man. Way better than mine.
Is that a Rolland Jazz Chorus amp? I love my AC30, but I think I might need one of those to replace my Fender Ultra Chorus...
