Is the Canon 550D the same as the Rebel T2i? Some cameras have 550D on the side and others have Rebel T2i......Probably a silly question but I have found a good price on the T2i named one.....

@tomsmith100 T2i is the name given to the camera in USA, and 550D in Europe. They are the same, just different names... If you can look for the t3i, its almost the same as the t21 except for an adjustable screen, and a little extra stuff like lomography effect option, blah blha hlb

I'm in love with the T2i (550D), the image quality is great considering It's low price.

We recently did a short using the T2i with just the 50mm f1.8 and the kit lens, with no fancy extra equipment, just a diy dolly and support, and even without a follow focus I found It quite easy to get the focus right.

@HiShaneeee This is better than the T3i in terms of price/performance. T3i just has the useless articulating screen and you can't even AF with it. Outdated? What does that mean? After 243 days, for example, the camera stops working? Why do you even worry about it. People still shoot with cameras from 2006 and get epic pictures.

Hi, I´m from Buenos AIres, Argentina. I have a T2i and I used to film a lot, I recognize a known bug on this camera: OVERHEATING.. That is a concern for me, after record near 20 minutes of video (in few steps), the display shows a signal saying: Almost burned. So, I need to turn-off the camera and wait a few.. not a deal ! Question: There is a way to solve this problem? Question 2: Does the T3i solve this problem? Thank you !!!

hey guyz I got this camera over a month ago and my window's media player doesn't open the video files! can anyone suggest any type of video player other can quick time and DivX. And also the video files don't show up in my windows movie maker! help???

@KarinasPets What OS are you using? I think the video format for this camera is in .MOV, I'm using Win7 and .MOV files are readable by my media player.

And by the way, Movie Maker doesn't support .MOV file formats, you would have to convert it (which is ouch because it will kill the resolution) try other video editing software, but I doubt it will work in Vegas, Ulead or even Premiere because they don't support .MOV, but I think you can research about codecs to solve that problem.

@KarinasPets Oh and another thing, I dunno if it's a clever thing to do because I hate to see the resolution of my videos deteriorate, I uploaded them on YouTube and downloaded them again using YouTube Downloader and set the download quality to HQ.

Though the file can be a little compressed the quality of the video is still okay, after downloading, the format turns to .MP4, usually this kind of format is readable by Vegas, Ulead and Premiere. I dunno for Movie Maker though. :)

@KarinasPets Ulead, Vegas, and Premiere: these three I use them. But I would recommend that you use Vegas, it's user friendly and somehow has advance options for editing, Premiere is okay too, but I'm not fond of it, yet. HAHA! :D

Hello everyone. I have just bought the 550D, and I use it for HD recording. My problem is.. I have Sony Vegas pro 9 to edit my films in, but when I i start to render the files, suddenly a popup apears saying "the system is low on memory. You may be able to reduce memory usage by closing other aplications", this always happens in the beginning of rendering or around 36 %.. Really starting to get on my nerve! Please help! I'm not sure. I just know that T2i is NTSC format and 550D is PAL. Aside from that, they are essentially the same thing. and Eleanna is right, it's a brilliant camera.
