the best way to do this is to use a blue light and have her exit the stage when the otrhers sing and get into a fat suit and come back on when she starts singing again

we didn't make her blow up--we had oompa loompas shine blue flashlights on her and dimmed the theater lights, then she ran out at the last "BLEW IT" and purple confetti was thrown from offstage left.

My school did Charlie & the Chocolate Factory a couple days ago for our Senior play and it was so fun to do, we really liked making the scenery and the cast really enjoyed acting and using improvisation when they could. During one of the scenes the bed with all of the grandparents in it actually collapsed right in front of everyone! lmao

Depends on your theaters budget, but possibly use one of those blow up costumes (sumo wrestler and stuff) so you can just activate it when the part comes (and ofcourse have large clothes over) or do what they did her and use a medicine ball with the head and feet.
