  • Awesome

  • Toyota did not make a supercar like porsche mclaren and mercedes did. they got a lola and put a plate on it. thats y they didnt win because that thing was clearly a prototype. they only made 1 lol........but on a good note at least they will be in a fair class with LMP1

  • Toyota did not make a supercar like porsche mclaren and mercedes did. they got a lola and put a plate on it. thats y they didnt win because that thing was clearly a beast........but on a good note at least they will be in a fair class with LMP1

  • This is Porsche, not SUVs. -R

  • Those Nissans were great cars, a shame they couldn't pull a win, but third and fourth isn't bad at Le Mans,

  • NISSAN R390 GT1 is da best !

  • True :)

  • In reliability, yes. In speed, no.

  • Too bad none of these cars could return again to lemans. Oh well at least we have Gran Turismo 4 to drive these cars

  • the Toyota GT-one demonstrated the simple fact that being very fast and unreliable doesn't get very far in Le Mans.. it's actually irretating!!

  • in 98 starts the modern racing

  • man, i love that porsche 911 gt1 ever since i played need for speed porsche unleashed

  • Its sad that the T0S20 couldnt pull it off

  • God, I just wish Porsche would compete at LM in the LMP class.

  • They are, it's called the Porsche RS Spyder

  • Hurray for Porsche AG - Their 911 GT1 996 LM is the best car build for Le Mans. Sad that cars like this arent racing anymore. Yeahh, the RS Spyder and 911 GT3 RSR are not bad but Porsche should have left their GT1 race and smackdown the competition for atleast 3 more years.

  • No they couldn't, the rules were changed enough after the '99 season that the GT-One, R390 GT1, CLK GT1/CLR, and the 911 GT1 couldn't compete. The FIA/LMS wanted the Prototypes to be the top class, they couldn't compete with the GT1's of the time.

  • So why don`t the create another GT1 for the upcomming years instead of improving the RSR and RS Spyder.

  • thats is easy to answer: because the gt1 of next yar will be what was the gt2 this year

  • the 911 GT1 1998 was a revised 962 with a 935 engine with a higher downforce package, and Porsche couldnt compite because is a component of the VAG Group and is imposible race with your brother Audi ( the R8 at that time )

Porsche quit to Le Mans in order to increase the Audi success in Prototipes and Porsche developes the Cayenne ( VAG design Q7, Cayenne, and Touareg are the same SUV )

  • not exactly, the rules are based in the actual GT2 but the next GT1 cars will still be as powerfull as they are now, maybe a bit heavier but with better aerodynamics.

  • I agree, but who has teached you?

  • Unfortunately Porsche don't do that anymore. Their strategy is to build a good car and sell it to private teams. Just like they're doing with RS Spyder. Penske Racing in ALMS has just been a development platform.

  • I been hoping and praying for Porsche, Bmw and MB to return to Lemans in the LMP class. Ill die a happy man. Thanks Gt1 for these amazing videos.

  • toyota should go back to le mans and endurance racing f1 ain;t their style man

  • i miss my porsche gt1 body for my RC car (tamiya f103 ) :( crashed into a fence with 90 kmph , man i love the shape of that car!

  • where is that bloody cheese at?

  • does anynoe know where the trailer selling cheese is located?

  • the Toyota Gt-one shouldve taken that race, toyota really deserved a win that year, the gt-one a Legendary and Fiercely quick car, and my favorite of em all, but damn , luck just wasnt on its side

  • Showing up to Le Mans as a marketing gimmick once in a while did not serve Toyota. They spent 1/4 billion dollars for their GT-One, Porsche spend 60 million for their GT1. Toyota along with Lexus does not even provide anything close to the 911 on the road, so even winning outright would sell more Corolla's(so what's the point?)

  • Thnx for uploading this Le mans 24 Hours '98 race.

I've watched all 5 parts and it looks very nice ;)

  • Estas provas teem mais sabor que os aranhiços F1

  • ^Kl thanks i just watched it. Very good stuff and thanks for uploading

  • the first part is back up if anyones interested

  • wtf inappropriate content????

  • Where are the part 1 and 3?

  • the bastards at youtube removed it, saying it was inappropriate content

  • I miss that flat six Porsche engines in 1998 GT1.

  • every time Toyota has the upper hand, something bad happens.again thanks for the video.

  • Like in F1, they have more funds than Ferrari, but they're still painfully mid-fielding.
