Best 3 Generals in American History in Chronological order.
1.General MacArthur
2.President/General Eisenhower
3.General Patton
Patton was a bit wreckless and of less tank, but cmon the man kicked ass. Drained lesser equipped/fueled tanks and kept other divisions going once because Eisenhower routed his fuel from the redball express to the British General whos name I cannot recall at the moment. He rounded up so many fleeing german POWs b/c of that.
Nikkotei - I AGREE!!!!! The Greatest American General ever bar none! As to you A holes- WPO Orange was in effect. Cables from Washington decieved him into believing reinforcements were on the way. Given the situation , resources, etc- who could have done better???? Those of you w/ negative comments to Mac- do you think you could have done better???? I think not! When you have the MOH, 2 DSCs, 7 SS and 2 PH, then maybe you can talk smack. I'd gladly sacrifice your fag asses to the Japs. Cowards!
i shall return when it is safe and too late. please!! macarthur. please come back. we need food, they took us prisoner. they are killing us slowly... macarthur returned when it was late as hell, having breakfast lunch and dinner on his ship. what an idiot. why do ppl embrace such cowards. if your main men are in trouble why run away?? history is wrong. i hope this fag is in hell.
we should be thankful for the general for keeping his promise and liberating the philippines, i recommmend you all guys to check the video- Lost Evidence, the battle of Luzon, very nice documentary must watch
I shall return if he trully was any kind of general he would not have had to leave. he had good troops and air assets which he sqaundered. He could have and should have defeated the japs hands down. He had time, reources and the people capable of doing the job not him however. So what happened? ask a vet who surrvied the battan death march and hear how much love they have for this prick.
what are you saying? im not good at history but I believe it was the president of the usa that ordered mc arthur to pull out the troops and concentrate on the war on europe before coming back to the philippines thus the famous i shall return quote
This is nonsense. The Japanese were completely mobilized. The American Pacific Fleet was crippled. There was no way to resupply the Philippines. The Japanese rolled over the British in Malaya, Singapore and Hong Kong. They drove the Dutch out of Indonesia and sank the combined allied fleet in the Java Sea and pushed the Brits out of Burma into India. It's amazing the Americans held on as long as they did in Bataan and Corregidor.
Precisely my point. The Americans in the Philippines were in the exact same position as the British in Malaya and the Dutch in Indonesia facing a totally mobilized enemy with no hope of relief
i am a current veteran and know how the fucking military works, i've always studied military leaders from a personal standpoint meanning i've the oppportunity to meet many a great men of the services but i for one concur with your comment. this motherfucking prick should rott in hell for abandoning his troops. instead, american history looks upon this piece of shit like a jewel.
I was a soldier too and you should be ashamed of your comments. MacArthur was called back by direct Presidential order to command allied forces in the Southern Pacific. He waged the most successful campaign in American military history, He took the most enemy territory with the least casualties of any General in World War II. The Japanese feared him more than opponent. He always outguessed them and they sent numerous kamikaze missions specifically. Read Manchester's biography American Caesar.
I agree he should rot in hell. Even though he was ordered by FDR himself to abandon his troops on bataan, if he was a good general he would have stayed with his troops.
@saintromes Man what an Asshole you seem to be, un-educated and probably drinking beer telling everyone how a great soldier you were.... like if they care !!!
Please take an history book and have someone to read it to you because I don't think you can read properly , it seems that at history classes you were probably sleeping !!!!
That's why my country the Philippines is called the "Promise Land". My parents used to tell me that MacArthur promised the Philippines that He shall return. Thanks for uploading this. Now I have seen the famous speech.
Does anyone know how long it took MacArthur to return to the Phillipines after his promise I SHALL RETURN?

The reason why The Brits and the Dutch didn't last long in the Paific, is because Hitler's raping them in Europe.
