  • Cat 6 all the way... but dont buy cheap cable from monoprice. cat4? LOL TIA/EIA-568 doesn't even have a standard for that.

  • CAT 7 FTW!!! ^_^

  • Cat 6 if you can afford it.

Cat6a 'flat' varieties, pre-terminated, are available on Ebay and online (often cheaper via the online stores).

  • I have bt infinity, and cat 5 is fine.

  • @14051996 Which only goes up to 40Mbit download and up to 10Mbit upload at the mo.

  • sweet, but why isn't this on the cnet account?

  • which are the best for online gaming cat5e or cat6 pls help ????

  • @SuperPeppinu its the same it doesn't mater your internet conection is slower

  • @fl0r1svdk LAN speeds aren't though I transfer data at gigabit speeds from server to workstation, but yes most users it doesn't freaking matter.

  • @SuperPeppinu cat6 is better

  • TERRIBLE ADVICE. You say that gigabit over Cat5e is pushed to its limits and that's not true at all, especially for most home users that connect to a gigabit switch over short distances of 10 to 12 feet. Cat6 is considerably more expensive for a full installation because everything, not just the cable costs more. BTW, your price comparison is PER FOOT. Try pricing per 500' to 1000'. Cat6 is substantially more expensive. Often twice the price. Don't listen to CNET for advice folks.

  • @misctrader no your wrong CAT5e cant go over GB but CAT6 is infinite

  • @AkramPropheci If cat6 is infinite why are they making Cat6 augmented and Cat7?

  • @Jaymn2589 its for more reliable and faster data through

  • good to know man thanks

  • It is backwards compatible to CAT3, which uses half as many pair.

  • i have cat7 running on my home net work and it so reliable my specs are a Motorola sb6120 modem a cisco 1812 wireless with cat7 in all rooms of my house.

comcast 50mb connection but my download goes to 142mb with docsis3.0 and 30 mb upload.

  • it was a 100ft cat5E cable and it was a piece of shit

  • i paid $40 for a 30m(100ft) cable(dont know which cat it is but it sucks laptop or ps3 doesnty recognize it...

  • @Showoff34711 the devices must support the speeds to work
