Welter weight starts form 141lbs - 147 lbs. Its just that people make a big deal about the "catch weight" if the boxer cannot fight the usual because of 2 pounds then they are not weight trained! Welter weight starts form 141lbs - 147 lbs. Its just that people make a big deal about the "catch weight" if the boxer cannot fight the usual because of 2 pounds then they are not weight trained! They fought at 145 so it was a welterweight fight. If it was not a welterweight fight then manny could not take the belt from cotto. The fighter that wins the super six will be not only be the number one super middleweight but the number one pound for pound in my eyes. Of course, I'm not forgetting Bute. If he's gotten a few good wins before the super six is over, there should be a fight with the winner.
The reason is that fighter would be the #1 in the deepest division, having faced most of the top ten contenders (who bring a variety of styles, strengths, and weaknesses).
P4P is all subjective, but it's the way I see it.

it should be understood that the biggest ppv fights are usually the fights where people think the perfect puncher beats the perfect boxer. Cotto and Mosley don't have a problem with a few pounds by the time Manny put on his shoes, supporter, gloves and socks Pac was 147.

I get that he only wants sanctioned fights but take a look at his video during the Pac/Cotto fight and dude was confident that Cotto was going to win after the 1st round but as soon as Cotto gets dominated, he uses the weight issue as an excuse. That tells me that he was refusing to give Pacquiao credit at all cost. He said DLH was weight drained against Pac, then after the 1st round of Pac/Cotto, he said "he (Manny) is finding out this isn't DLH," but the weight was the main issue afterwards?

Actually, Blood mentioned in another video that Cotto should stay at 147 and not drop to 145 as Manny's camp requested, if he chose to fight.
He also suggested that Cotto take some time off in order to replenish his body before another fight, otherwise it would be like picking on a worn out fighter... in Bloods opinion.
Even though he felt Cotto might have been drained, he still felt Cotto was a slight favorite to win based on his size and power.

The catchweight was still at the welterweight division unless you have a catch weight of 140. You can have a WBC title bout at 141 if they wanted to. Pac and Cotto fight was at the "welterweight division"
