  • Now if all Deville's held up like this then they wouldn't have such a bad wrap. U got a good one it seems. The majority of owners report many serious and expensive problems with these cars. Northstar eats headgaskets and gobbles oil. Glad you had good service out of yours. If Cadillac's weren't so unreliable statistically, I wouldn't mind owning one.

  • Our 97 Deville with 180k miles gets 23 mpg mixed highway and city. Wouldn't recommend one with high mileage to someone without a good background in mechanics. They need maintenance and you'll go broke taking it in. Getting a set of manuals off the bay helps a lot. Still, a great car that hauls when we need it too. Our pearl white paint and custom rims still turns heads. Remember this ... once you go Cadillac, there's no turning back!

  • my 95 cadillac seville is getting 26.5 mpg and even tho i sometimes rev it and race. it still great on gas. and its a 4.6 northstar.

  • my deville get 28.8 on i5 it just depends on how you drive it

  • see i am from bklyn nyc and cars rarely if anything run 70 plus so it doesn't burn out as fast,I now stay in augusta ga where cars burn out left and right a new car out here yea right purchase a warranty and still get charged for damage, its over hot in the summer and ice cold winter the summer kills cars out hear a caddy wouldn't last with driving all over out here

  • what people dont understand is if you do repairs by the book you wont have a damn problem that car will probably run 500k before it needs a new engine by that time it will be well needed to..but you got your money worth out the first engine .

  • @MrBry329 I changed my oil every 3Kmiles, i maintain my vehicles to the T, and most of the time beyond what the manufacturer quotes in the books. I have had Toyota's last into the mid 300K mile range without burning or leaking oil, without any major replacements, the Caddy, that lasted to 97k miles and died a firey death in traffic in NYC. It simply overheated, and i could not get to the shoulder. I think a lot of this depends on where you drive, no Caddy Northstar is lasting 500K miles in NYC.

  • it last so long cause all the major problem have been replace by the previeose owners caddies are made to last but with a over haul first

  • i have a 95 deville 4.9l v8 thats had alot go wrong in the 16 years of its life

  • @stydel311 after that itl last forever

  • 28.4 highway, take that in the city and youd be getting 15-16 lol

  • @TrollingForYou, just got a 2001 and net 22 doing mostly city. Haven't got to try out pure highway miles yet

  • Got a '93 Seville 4.9L that gets like 31 MPG on the highway, 129K miles...I'll never get rid of it. Bought it off a guy and it had trans and oil leaks...found and fixed the leaks(OE gaskets, mostly), gave it a tuneup and never looked back. Rides on rails for such a big car.

  • @crombieposterboy The Northstars were always great, yes they got better with time and a few had problems as does EVERY engine but almost every person I know with a Northstar has NO problems and many many hundreds of thousands of miles on them.

  • @nonpoint1987, I have heard about terrible issues with Northstars, especially in '97-'99 models but everyone I know, even with the problematic model years have got 160k+ on them and finally just traded in the car for something newer when they got rid of them, not because anything broke or failed.

  • @shred5 I own a 96 Deville, it has 290,000 on it and has never needed any major repairs.

  • @nonpoint1987 nice! As long as you flush your fluids regularly you should be fine. Like I said everyone I know personally had great luck with theirs!

  • those northstar engines get v6 mpg on the highway

  • my mother's 32 valve caddy gets close to 30 at 55.

It runs at very rpms for sure.

  • Comment removed

  • @thegreatkingdaniel, no if you do highway driving and use cruise control you can get 30+. My uncle gets 31mpg based on the odometer and pumps on his '99 Deville whenever he takes it on the highway...

  • im thinkin bout buyin a 96 deville wit 125k it test drove pretty good...any advice

  • @cvigil911 i bought a 94 caddy deville and it had 245k and its the best decision iv ever made

  • @droyfiend138 wtf? how do cadillacs last that long? mines is a 93 sts with a new motor and it has 64,340 miles on it but i have no clue about the trans. do u still have the caddy?

  • @MikeWithBigTube nope im retarded honestly im 18 years old and im a dumbass and the cadillac lasted a week awsome fucking awsome i wish i wasent so retarded

  • @droyfiend138 well at least you have good taste

  • @cvigil911 got a 96,so thatys my advice,stay clear of it,you'll run in a million problems,yep toyota,nissan and honda ,spoiled me

  • im thinking about buying a 1998 deville with 200k on it, i was a little worried, but it runs and drives perfect still, this video makes me feel better.. Are u still driving this how many miles does it have now?

  • my 95 with 160,xxx miles on it can get 33 mpg at times, crazy for such a big v8

  • What year, model and engine is your cadillac?

  • Who even knows if thats accurate or not lol. But still cool :-)

  • cause hes driving on the highway. id like to see how that changes during city driving.

  • mgza2007

my 1997 eldorado with 125k gets about 18 in the city and 27-28 on the highway

  • you have to be shitty me 28.4 WTF am i am going a 2.2 4cyl lon saturn that gets 24mpg in the city

  • well, what do you expect? It's a cadillac. My dad had one. And in direct comparison with a Mercedes Benz, the Mercedes was just second class. In terms of quality, ride and space.

  • anyone knows how much can i get on a 98 sts driving at 70mph? thanks

  • probably about 25-26, maybe more especially if you run premium like you should

  • yeeeeeeeeah man thats accurate hahahaha

  • these cars are awesome my 99 with 125,000 will get about the same...my blower motor went out last week too

  • It's LAS Vegas

  • My 2000 DTS with 22220miles gets about 25 higway

  • I have found computes to be not 100% accurate. they can be anywhere from .5-4mpg off the mark.

Use the trip odometer and the gas pump to calculate your fuel mileage.

  • thats still pretty good for a caddie

  • If you say so...

  • have you seen much better?

  • shit m deville 93 190k miles on it only gets 13.7 mpg wtf how can i fix that

  • That's average overall. Mine gets 14.4mpg overall because I drive mostly in the city.

  • This car has a completely different engine and transmission than the 1993.

  • Tune-up.

  • In Italy and in general in Europe the GAS is not less that 95 octane in US start from 87 and go to 92. Shell for example sell a better gas for charged engine that is 100 octane.

American car in Europe ( very rare) are a little less expensive and engine turn more regular than in U.

Also scooter, my vespa engine turn irregular with US gas

But in US we pay no more that 4.50 $ a gallon in Europe is over 9.50 $ at gallon so it's better have a worse gas that pay 9,50 $ gas.

  • I have a 03 deville, I had to change batterys, when i disconnected them i guess it reset the computer now it only get's 9.7 mpg, when it use to get 17 mpg, what can i do? thanx

  • Your milage didn't change, you must be driving in the city and it's calculating bad milage because of it. If you drove on the highway more than it would calculate more of course.

  • I have a 1993 sts with 133,000 miles on it, and depending on the freeway, I get between 25-30mpg, love it.

  • Actually I own a 2005 cadillac deville with 58000 miles on it and i get 32mpg while cruising at 60mph... so it is def possible

  • eeeeeeee HALLO.. It locks like you com from Britten? Have stupid can you get their?? Clio 1L Motor-Cadillac 4.6L v-8. Clio 1100kg-Cadillac 1800kg Clio 70hp Cadillac 300hk Clio Gay shirt Cadillac King... I pay more for riding in style... And I'm not even American and from scandinavia. Next time try to compare to a similar car... Not a car whit 1/4 of size, power, and style.
  • It depends on what you like really. You have to remember that Europe and the USA are very different places. The french don't really care about their 0-60 but they do care about their MPG.

  • Gas consumption does`nt bother me. My 4.9 litre Caddy gives around 25-27 on the highway Considering the absolute comfort, smooth ride and effortless acceleration, I`ll accept the relatively poor mileage. Small European cars can`t give me that. They are well made though, I`ll grant you that....D41H4T5U.

  • True, i just bought a Fiat Panda diesel and so far i've had 66 MPG. There are two types of road in this world, American i.e. long, straight, ideal for cruising and european, twisty, bendy, hills and hairpins etc. I guess the shape of a road and the distance can effect the overall design of a car. Not to mention the governments input in terms of taxes. Fuel, well we pay around $9.60 a US gallon! and around 75% of that is tax, you pay less but use more, get my drift?

  • I was`nt aware that you paid so much; those TAXES!! We pay around $3.50 per gal, that is for premium grade {93 octane}. I spend some time every year in Europe, I hire a car, usually a small one. I think that the major roads are every bit as good as ours. The German autobahns, the Italian autostradas and the British M roads are superb. Some of `em are very undulating but this is because the countries, compared to the US, are small and hilly. Such configurations are inevitable.

  • Dahatsu

  • Being that we(U.S) are a nation of consumtion...it is not in the best interest of car makers/oil companies to apply the technology. That said...the U.K. has much much better public transportation than the U.S. If gas was 9$ a gallon, I would probably use the bus/trolly to go to work, but still drive my caddy on my time. That would be pretty interesting though..being that the bus system sucks in San Diego.

  • dude how the hell does your 245k deville get 28 mpg and my 1997 25k deville gets 15 mpg.I have changed the spark plugs, ignition wires, and used a fuel injector cleaner.Any more suggestions?Thanx.

  • Go easier on the throttle and drive more on the highway.

That's usually how you can get that kind of fuel economy.

  • that car is maybe messed up on the electronic, my brothers de'ville gives about 17 mpg average when he is cruising. that car can only do 28 mpg if someone drives it 30 mph.

  • Try sticking with a Premium grade of Gasoline(NO ETHANOL), and run on the Highway 70-75mph thats when mine gets the 27-30mpg range

  • do you do a lot of street driving?

The car in this video may do a lot of freeway driving. My 94' Eldo TC gets about 10-15 on street. But if I am on the freeway Ill get 25-30mpg. I suggest you do a WOT test once a week if you do a lot of street driving.

  • 245k miles in 4 years What in the world do you do for a living? I mean when some1 racks up that many miles that fast you just know its job related

  • Looks like a 97 model. I guess the OP bought it used in 03.
