@PoplovPanda Sorry for posting such a long time after your original statement but i thought you might be interested. HoMM is - clearly, given the name - heavily related to the Might and Magic series. Heroes 1/ 2 were developed during a break between Might and Magic 5 and 6. The game was initially meant to be set in a different Universe and so Character portraits and Names (Crag the Hack being the First Portrait and a Major player in Heroes of Might and Magic 3) were borrowed from M&M.
There is a dungeon in this game that will give a character all skills, including the thief/ninja ones. It costs 100000 gold for all of the skills, but it's worth it in the long run. So, you can see that having a thief or ninja is not absolutely necessary.
Isn't there something missing? Like a robber or a Ninja? I would rather go with either a knight or a barbarian, or ditch the archer for one of the thief-classes
Interesting setup...my favourite party consisted of a Knight, Paladin, Rogue, Archer, Cleric, Sorcerer. That way you have decent close combat strength, and two caster of each of the two main magic schools.
Really very "veteran". Only for players who know which cave in order to get a key location they have to enter early in order to get a certain key and which location they have to enter afterwards to get the thieving talent and where they have to go to get it high enough temporary to be able to open any locks.
Afterwards they just have to remember where the hundreds of chests they couldn't open were.
An archer, eh? In my next game I was thinking of finally using one. I need to cure myself of Paladin dependency though. I use them as my "Healer of the healer", and rely on them to cure the cleric when the cleric is in danger. It's sad, really.
i never played might and magic, but this looks very similar to HOMM. the first orc knight char portrait is almost the same as one in HOMM2
