@boravw1 they ARE a joke though...basically said i was SOL with my light..it fell out of my mount on my rifle and stopped working. Told me they do not hold up if dropped or something similar...my only question is why on the packaging does it tell me its "durable and rugged construction" when it cant withstand being dropped from 3 feet up? i wish they didnt have good flashlights or i would never buy from then again...poor poor service
@boravw1 shouldn't have got the incandescent if thought it wouldnt work for more than just a nightstand flashlight...thats okay, ill upgrade to the LED
every so often I hear a story on CR123's, this happens when you mix brands or when on cell is full and you mix with a cell withb less power the transfer of power overheats them and you get venting with flame, thats why I strictly use AA's or AAAs for lights but it does limit me and I do miss out on some of the nicest flashlights out there...
IMO I think you are onto something there. The new AA and AAA can be very bright, no need to go to these all the time. Plus you'll save a few bucks in the process
@cutlerylover You can still use Lithium Manganese 16340 cells(CR123 size), 100% safe as it doesn't explode or vent with flames, plus it can put out a lot of amps, upto an 8C constant discharge which means 2 of them can safely power up a p91 :). They won't work with some bulbs and LED emitters though since it's 4.2V fully charged compared to the 3.2V of CR123 cells.
BatteryStation is now having their CR123 batteries made here in the US. I would still contact them and tell them what happened. Heck, show them this video...
Contact BatteryStation(dot)com They may (or may not) replace the entire light. That depends on their warranty policy.
I know that Duracell will replace a flashlight if that happened with their batteries..
.
Just so you know, this has happened before with other brands. You can find pics on CPF of this happening to other lights, many with name brand CR123's (like SF) in them..
Yikes! I've heard that inexpensive batteries could do that but this is the first time I've actually SEEN it.
Bought some Duracell 123's off of eBay some time ago and the seller claimed "Made in USA" but they were made in Malaysia or Vietnam or one of those Asian countries. Worked OK but I didn't like the false advertising in the listing.
Yea I think a new title is needed, wasn't the light, like you said the batteries. I guess that is one reason why Surefire has a warning about using cheap CHINA batteries. China is trying get us in so many ways, this time they were trying to burn down your house with those radio controlled fire batteries ;)
Only trust american made CR123. You can tell if the battery is american made my looking at the bottom of the battery (the negative side) for a green ring. It is hard to see but the label won't be snug against the battery, it will be lifted off a bit. In that area you should see a green ring. These batteries are american made and are made by the same company with different labels. They are labled as: Surefire, Panasonic, Energizer, Duracell, Rayovac, and Streamlight. All same manufacture
just send it back and see if they will hook you up, I hear surefire is no joke with customer service

@cutlerylover what if you used a CR123 but It had just 1 cell? 4sevens Mini 123 comes to mind... so you dont have to worry about mixed cells?
