Ooo! Dang, I've been re-watching old Benji stuff & tripping out on how sharp & emotional they can be. I heard harsh stuff about this one b/c of various abusive characters so I stayed away. This just hurts! I keep laughing w/guilt. That music gives you an emotional swell and then...??? Revisiting the Saturday sci-fi Benji didn't make me as giddy. I can't decide of I'm more or less scared to try this film now! (But I'll probably buy Camp's new book.)
I recently saw this movie and I was gladly surprised that I liked it a lot. It came with the Benji Collection DVD's (which includes the original "Benji" and "For the Love of Benji") and I didn't think it would be good at first. It actually is really cute.
Ah, hell, though, it's Joe Camp. He makes Benji what he is. ^_^

you're right, it's not Benji. It's Benji: Off the Leash! which came out in 2004.

I just finished watching this awesome movie and my dog looks very similar to the Benji in this one, just with shorter hair and a longer tail.
